So now I have to decide—which do I want more?

Utter perfection! This book has everything you need, witty one liners, snarky dialogue, swearing parrots, a naughty goat named Sue, rival bakeries, rival towns of Sarcasm and Shipwreck and rival softball teams. Did I mention the smoking hot baker that dirty talks to his donuts ?What else do you need? All you need is Grady and Annika… this book has so much love fun and crazy food descriptions all I want to do is read it again and again and Pinterest all the bakery items! Clear your calendar and enjoy your visit to Shipwreck and Sarcasm. *** there are cameos from some of our favorite Twins that happen pre hea.
In this much-anticipated return to the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia and the quirky small town of Shipwreck and their rival town Sarcasm, the Food Network’s food wars have nothing on the war between Shipwreck and Sarcasm’s rival bakeries. With business establishment names that would keep the Zon bots very busy, and clever, ironic street names, Grant sets the stage for a mayhem-filled, memorable read. You’ll meet a foul-mouthed fowl and a billy goat named Sue who thinks he’s a dog, in addition to the quirky, lively human characters.
Grady Rock does one thing better than anyone else. He bakes the most perfect confections that Shipwreck has ever seen. People come from neighboring cities to try the pastries that he’s sweet talked into existence. That is, until the girl who USED to be his best friend opens a bakery in neighboring Sarcasm and has the audacity to advertise all over Shipwreck!
Annika has her reasons for separating from the Army and returning home to help her mother realize her dream of owning a bakery. As much as the handsome master baker in Shipwreck might think, it really has nothing to do with him. But you can’t have bakery wars without rivalry, and you can’t have decent rivalry without contact between the rivals. And that’s were things really get interesting, in ways I couldn’t even begin to imagine.
This author has a rare gift, infusing the narrative with the perfect touch of hilarity so the story sparkles and shines with life and plays out in living color. She then gives us larger-than-life, unique secondary characters who are unforgettable in their outrageousness, and a flawed but loveable hero and heroine who effortlessly make a place for themselves in our hearts.
Reading a Pippa Grant book isn’t simply reading a book. It’s living a lifetime of zany laughter, unparalleled adventure and swoony, forever love in an alternate reality for the few hours we spend with these characters. They say laughter is like medicine, and every heart needs a good dose of Pippa, so grab this hilarious, heartfelt, phenomenal read today!

4.5 Stars
I loved this book so much. First of all look at the cover if that doesn’t entice you I don’t know what will. Grady is a dirty talking baker and boy does he make it an art form. He has such a big heart as well and when his high school crush and his former best friend comes back to town all I wanted was for him to get a HEA he always wanted. Annika has a lot of her plate and she could use her best friend in her corner. The attraction flares between these two and you can feel their connection burn off the pages. It’s not going to be easy for these two because they come from rival towns and now rival bakeries. With any Pippa Grant book the hilarity ensues. I was laughing from beginning to end. Anika and Grady’s family are great and funny. Grady’s grandpa is a hoot with his parrot. I can’t forget Grady’s goat Sue. He steals the show a lot. He’s like a dog and he’s one smart cookie. This is definitely a must Read!
Master Baker was such a fun, hot read!! Grady is so dirty and I loved it! If he was my local baker I’d be there every single day. Annika took some time to grow on me, but I like that in a story. It’s real life. If you need a good laugh and a little heat then pick up this book now. I highly recommend!!
Grady is a baker and he is a master at his profession. Grady knows he is the King of baked goods and no one is going to take that away from him. Annika is from the town of Sarcasm, but she has been away for the last 10 years in the military, but when something happens to one of her family members she must return home. Annika must take over running the families business, which is a bakery that her mother had always wanted to be her own and now it’s there’s. But Annika nice knows baking isn’t her strong suit, but she will try. Grady finds out that there is a bakery in the next town over that’s taking his business and he goes to confront the owner. But Grady wasn’t expecting to see his former best friend and the last only girl he has ever loved. Will these two finally get there acts together or will they let there bakeries and families pull them apart. Will these two be able to let there chemistry fizzle out or will Grady’s goat Sue keep pushing them together.
A fun summer read. While it’s friends to enemies to lovers, Pippa always has a fresh take on her stories. Grady’s sweet talking to his baked goods made me laugh out loud!!
WOW! What an absolutely wonderful entertaining book! I giggled alot!
The banter is incredibly witty and the characters, well everything just blew me away!
Such a feel good story with rivalry, friends family, love and an hilarious goat!
When Annika comes back home to help her mum and sister, her past catches up to her!
Grady was a force in his bakery and when Annika returns he’s not too happy about it! I she the one that got away?? Theres also a certain thing I love about him, kind of a quirkyness, but you have it read it for yourself to find out. He’s for sure a ‘master baker’ at a lot of things!!!!!
What happens when the past comes back to town, are feelings still there, can they get past it or is the never ending feud between the towns going to rip a friendship apart?!
This book is riveting, hilarious and so worth reading you will want to find the towns to live there!
Absolutely loved it so much!!
I absolutely love, love, love Pippa Grant’s books! They always make me laugh, smile and touch my heart, and Master Baker did the same. Not going to lie though, it took me a while to start liking the female main character, Annika, and don’t get me started on her bratty little sister. I was already in love with Grady from Flirting with the Frenemy, and wanted to see him get his HEA.
Annika and Grady were BFFs throughout high school, and realized their feelings for each other before going their separate ways after graduation. Annika returns to Sarcasm to help run her mothers dream, a bakery when her mom goes blind. The problem is she can’t bake and and her bakery is in competition with Grady’s. There is a ton of love hate going on between them along with a huge dose of guilt for those same feelings. Once the two are able to get over these issues and realize they still have feelings for each other, the hilarity ensues. I mean, with a potty mouthed parrot, a boy goat named Sue, and a rivalry between the Shipwreck $h!theads and the Sarcasm a$$h*les, what else would you expect.
I was glad the couple gets their HEA, but was still so frustrated with Annika in the end. I love when Pippa’s other characters make appearance, and was excited to read which guests popped in. I cannot wait for Cooper’s story (and hope the Fireballs make a comeback), and I hope TJ gets a story of her own.
I received an Arc of Master Baker in exchange for an honest review.
Fair warning, your facial and stomach muscles are going to get a workout while reading Master Baker! And so will your bladder! LOL
Take a pinch of unrequited love, mix it with a healthy dash of dirty talk, and bake it with a heavy dose of competition and you end up with a fun, smart, sexy, swoony, brilliant friends-to-enemies-to-lovers rom com.
I seriously couldn’t swipe the pages on my Kindle fast enough to see just what would happen next between Grady and Annika and the crazies who call Shipwreck or Sarcasm home. I loved Grady and Annika together, they’ve become my new favorite Pippa Grant couple! Add in their friends, family, neighbors and pets, and I can’t help but wish Shipwreck or Sarcasm existed in real life.
Master Baker is another fun read by Pippa Grant. There are some familiar characters from previous books, but it can definitely be read as a stand-alone. Be ready for some side-kick animal antics and hilarious dialogue. I especially enjoyed the scenes with Grady and his brother, Cooper (Very much looking forward to Cooper’s book.) Grady is a sweetheart of a character that has a way of sweet-taking his baked goods that grew on me. And, honestly, the cover is worth the price of admission. Wow.
The story that will satisfy your sweet tooth! It is the perfect blend of salty and sweet! There is an assortment of events for every reader with ingredients including: rivalry, sweet love, angst, and so much hilarity that you’d have to be dead to not laugh.
This standalone is also associated with previous books including the famous “American Geekheart” and “Hero and the Hacktivist” and takes us back to the quirky town of Shipwreck. Grady is the dirty talking baker who happily owns his own bake shop. Grady’s life has always been in Shipwreck, and a little more than ten years after high school, his heart still hasn’t healed from the rejection by his high school crush, Annika- the girl that got away. Life is good though, until he finds out that Annika has come home and to make matters worse, she is opening a bakery. Annika is as feisty as she ever was, and Grady feels betrayed by her leaving and by her coming back. Tempers heat, recipes get stolen and their rivalry fuels the old feud between their neighboring towns. But things are never as they seem, and they both discover that they need each other more than they imagined. The story is a journey that teaches that love is timeless and unconditional.
The book also has guest appearances from Mr. McHottie, Chase Jett, and the beloved Berger twins. Finally, a Pippa Grant book would not be complete without at least one adorable and hilarious animal friend. The story will introduce you to Sue, the matchmaking goat and Long Beak Silver, the filthy talking parrot. This book will leave your heart full, your tummy sore, and you sighing happily.
Oh em gee this book had me laughing so hard! First the way Grady talks to his baked goods will have you fanning your face with your reading device. As always the sidekick animals steal the show in most scenes, and Sue the goat is no exception. Sue the male goat who acts part dog, had me singing Johnny Cash’s a boy named sue everytime he was stealing the scene. It was nice to see the male be a lot more vulnerable and open with his feelings rather than being a giant prick just to be one. Everytime he made a mistake he owned up to it, and that’s a great quality in anyone. Annika is a tough but strong female force who gives to everyone around her and forgets to take care of herself. I loved all the baking and food parts, it made me feel like I was in their shops listening to their conversations in real life. This book makes me want to live in either Shipwreck or Sarcasm, both places have such a strong devotion to their own people that you can’t help but want to be a part of it. The heat between Annika and Grady is palpable through the pages! This book will have you laughing, and rooting for them from the first chapter!
A sexy baker I’ve been dying to get to know better? COUNT ME IN!
I have been intrigued by Grady for a while now (he has appearances in the Bro Code series) and I was so excited to finally get his story! I’m not disappointed either. This man is so yummy. He’s quirky, funny, kind of a mess, and sweeter than anything he makes in his bakery. He’s goofy, sexy charm wrapped up in a really nice package.
You can’t help but feel for Annika. It’s just been one stressful event after another in her life lately. She’s tough, determined, a little bit stubborn, doesn’t take anything from anybody, and is just as much of a mess a Grady is.
By now, I’ve read enough Pippa Grant to know I can never anticipate what will happen in her stories. I can count on one thing though: it’s going to be a crazy, wonderful, hilarious ride from beginning to end. You can’t read this story without a smile on your face and often you’ll be laughing out loud at some of the shenanigans that go on. Don’t think it’s all fun and games though. It’ll definitely hit you in the feels too.
I absolutely love this insane cast of characters and I think you will too.
We have returned to Shipwreck (or for some come for the first time but we won’t hold that against you) for so much fun, good eating and lots of loving with Grady, Annika and Sue the goat. If you have never read a Pippa Grant book before never fear you will do okay with this one. If you have be warned be sure to READ the PROLOGUE!! Ares and Zeus Info details are in the Prologue and it is so important to your sanity and yes if you are a reader and fan you will get bent if you have not read “the prologue”. Okay on to this fun and crazy book. Grady Rock lives in Shipwreck which we have meet before. He is the Master Baker who makes the most amazing banana pudding donuts. In fact after I read them to my husband in Pippa’s last book, I had to learn to make them for the family. YEP. Grady doesn’t just bake goods he masters them… our authors has this baker taking to his baked goods like a lover talks to his afternoon delight. Then we have the other town Sarcasm. Sarcasm and Shipwreck are always at odds… rivals. If one says it is sunny the other will say no it;s raining. Well Annika was Grady’s best friend as long as he can remember. He feel in love with her too and she went away to the army and left him. Now she is back in Sarcasm, opening a bakery with her Mom and Sister Brook. WTH???? She didn’t tell him and she opened a BAKERY GOING AGAINST HIM AND SHE COULDN’T COOK OR BAKE 10 YEARS AGO! But with most things life all in life is not what it seems. It takes a goat named Sue and a cranky parrot lots of familiar characters, 2 fun loving towns to get these 2 hard headed folks to see what is staring them right in front of their face. Or maybe it just takes a ball to the nuts? Grab Master Baker some sweet treats because this book WILL MAKE you Crave Donuts and Banana Pudding and be prepared to laugh your lungs out.
When you pick up a book by Pippa Grant, you know it will be a laugh out loud and fun to read! In Master Baker we get a friends/enemies to lovers story that was captivating, entertaining and one you will not want to put down! I could not stop reading! I loved the characters and their story so much! The perfect summer read!
Annika and Grady were friends and then life got in the way. But now she is back and not to become friends again! Her mom needs her help and that involves direct competition with Grady and his livelihood. So begins their crazy and over the top journey we know and love from this author! Annika and Grady had great banter and chemistry. They were great characters and the story will leave you smiling.
4.5-stars. Read and reviewed for Reviews From the Heart.
Happy reading!
Annika and Grady had such an emotional story and I loved it to pieces!! The feelings were so deep and real that I ached for the characters. Long Beak Silver was always there to lighten the mood though and made me laugh out loud several times. Grady had me blushing as he dirty talked his donuts, while Bailey and Sue never hesitated to butt their heads into any situation. Pippa Grant definitely hit it out of the park with this one!
Warning: will make you crave baked goods!!!
Just a note before I start my review, you’re gonna want to have some yummy treats nearby while reading this book because it’s going to make your mouth water! Between the adorable relationship of Grady and Annika to the antics between the towns of Shipwreck and Sarcasm, this book has me turning pages faster than you can say “Long John Silver!” If you’re looking for a fun book to curl up and enjoy, this is it!
Please note I received this book to review as part of an ARC team.
Love love love Grady Rock talking to his baked goods!! Showing those tasty sweets love to get a rise out of them!! But the Master Baker is thrown for a loop when his high school crush Annika Williams returns to town to open a rival bakery in the next town over. And both towns have a hundreds year-old history between them.
High school best friends, who haven’t seen each other in over 10 years when Annika ran from Grady to join the Army. On emergency leave to help her suddenly blind mama and 13 year old sister open her mama’s dream brings Annika back to Sarcasm. With the support of both their neighbors a bakery rival is born and the crazy antics ensue. Can Annika get over her fears that sent her running from Grady? Can a bitter rivalry between Shipwreck and Sarcasm let love rise?
Everything in Gray’s life is a perfect recipe, a little bit of Pop and Nana getting on, a male goat named Sue and an over the top loving brother and sister making the pirate town of Shipwreck amazing. I want to go visit. A rivalry with a 13 year old who hates anything Shipwreck and can decorate an amazing donuts! This book has all the zany and quirky things I love in a Pippa Grant book.
I received an ARC for a voluntary and honest review.
Another spectacular book from Pippa Grant. I loved Grady Rock and his family when he/they appeared in Flirting with the Frenemy, so I was very excited to read his story.
The towns of Shipwreck and Sarcasm are wonderfully creative small towns with an intense rivalry. The bakery war was hilarious and the cameo celebrity judges panel was awesome!
Annika and Grady were best friends all through high school then she went off to the Army for 10 years while Grady wine to culinary school and then came home to open a bakery. They each felt abandoned and hurt by the other one leaving so their reunion is more fireworks from leftover anger and hurt than romance for the first several chapters. Those hurt feelings burn off eventually and turn into some real sparks of lust and secret trysts while they fan the flames of their bakery war.
If you love bakers with an intense dirty talk game you’ll love Grady. I can’t wait for Pippa to return with more stories set in Shipwreck.
I received an ARC from the author and happily volunteered to review her work. 5 stars+
Another five star read by Pippa Grant! The chemistry between Grady and Annika is freaking fantastic, the humor is on point, and I will never tire of Pippa’s ability to fully integrate animals as secondary characters in her books. I live for it, actually!
