Ok first, I have to get this out of the way, holy cupcakes with this cover, am I right?? Delicious!
Pippa Grant delivers another completely adorable friends to enemies to lovers book in Master Baker. If you liked all the other craziness in Shipwreck and Sarcasm, you’re going to want to gobble this one up! Former best friends Grady and Annika engage in a hilarious bakery war, with both towns in on the action.
Grady and Annika are highschool best friends but things went awry when Grady wanted more and Annika left town faster than a tornado. Now she’s back and things are all kinds of crazy! Annika opened a bakery??! The girl Grady knew could burn water! As there usual is, turns out there’s a lot more behind closed doors.
This book is practically edible with all the baked goods and cuteness! You’ll fall in love with these towns, ridiculous families and Grady and Annika!

Pippa Grant has become one of the few authors I’ve bought (and read) every single book of. In Master Baker we return to Shipwreck and get Grady’s story (we met Grady and his family in Flirting with the Frenemy). Master Baker is emotional and funny, with quite a few laugh-out-loud moments. The cameos were fabulous and if you’ve ready other Pippa Grant books you’ll love it too!. Pippa Grant is a master of both heart and comedy and Master Baker shines in her with both. If you’re looking for a romantic comedy with epic trash talking, a foul-mouthed parrot, match-making goat, and a sexy, dirty-talking baker whose sweet/filthy mouth makes more that dough rise then look no further! Master Baker is all this and more. Grab this book now and get sucked into the world of Pippa Grant and her amazing characters.
Pippa Grant sure has the Secret Recipe for outrageously hilarious steamy romcoms.
I could not stop laughing and smiling while reading Grady’s and Annika’s story – there is so much love, swoon, steam and laugh out loud moments in this book.
Two town rivalry to the tune of mortal enemies – check, two bakeries in said towns engaging in war for the best donut – check, dirty talking parrot – check,
domesticated goat, acting like a dog – check, Master Baker trying to win over his high school best friend’s heart after 10 years of not seeing her – check! All these ingredients make for one fabulous, hysterically funny romcom, you won’t want to miss!!!
5 Star reviews of Master Baker by Pippa Grant
Where do I start? I have not read a straight Pippa Grant book before and I have absolutely no idea why that is. From the first to the last chapter I was totally captivated with Master Baker. There was nothing that I did not love about this book. It is a second chance at love story that has fabulous characters, both main and supporting and I was disappointed when the story ended. There was just something about these characters that I could easily relate to and I found myself totally immersed in the story of Annika and Grady, their family and some unusual animals.
I spent a great deal of my time, laughing out loud at the antics throughout this book. Can one ever really forget their first love? Grady was and truthfully still is in love with Annika, even though she left 10 years ago to pursue a career in the military. She is the one who got away for him. For Annika, she had no idea how Grady really felt until the day she was leaving and now, thanks to her mother’s sudden blindness she is back to run her mother’s bakery, only issue is she cannot bake to save her life; thankfully she has a 13 year old sister who can.
Grady is shocked and angered when he finds out that Annika has come back and this is compounded when he finds out that she is running a bakery in direct competition to his. They both live in 2 small towns in the Blue Ridge Mountains, where rivalry abounds.
Can Grady and Annika move on from the past that shaped them and despite themselves re ignite not only their friendship? Will Grady’s willingness to help Annika forge a deep and lasting love? Or will their families and the rivalry between the towns ruin their chance at happiness?
Master Baker was a fun read that had me snort laughing at times, it was also swoon worthy and romantic and is a fabulous example of a well written romantic comedy.
Another hilarious book from Pippa. Master Baker had me cracking up with the all the innuendos, cursing bird and a rescue goat who thought it was a human.
Grady and Annika are hilarious and perfect together. I love how their relationship evolved and the whole town knew about it but didn’t know about it. Bailey was hilarious and a favourite for me. I love how the books are interconnected but not. You can bounce around from story to story and never feel like you’ve missed something big. It all just flows together perfectly.
Small-town , 2nd chance romance, feuding between small towns, laughs a minute Hot studly baker with a heart and love for family. Throw in quirky characters and a heroine who fights what is right in frint of her. Another Pippa Classic.
Grady Rock is a good man but a great baker who talks dirty to his dough; sarcastic Annika can’t bake but she’s strong, sexy and hilarious! Be prepared for a few tears of sadness and bucketloads for hilarity! Only read if you’re ready to laugh up a storm.
Grady and Annika were EVERYTHING!!! I could not have loved this story more than I did! All the feels!
Audio Review
This is a story of two people that were best friends in high school and life happened and they went their separate ways. When Annika is forced to come back to town to run her families bakery she finds she is in competition with her old friend, Grady, for the best bakery between the two small rival towns.
These are sweet characters that are dealing with a lot of things and trying to survive what life is throwing at them. There are some of our favorite characters from previous books thrown in as well as a parrot and a goat. It’s funny and sweet and they find their HEA.
Jason Clarke and Virginia Rose were great. Loved listening to both of them.
Master Baker is a sweet and hilarious enemies-to-lovers/second chance romance. Grady and Annika were best friends in school, but both wanted more. Grady wanted Annika to wait for him while he went to culinary school, but Annika was afraid if she stayed around after high school, she would never find her own dreams. Ten years later she is back to help her mom and young sister through a dire situation. Unfortunately, helping her family puts her in opposition against her best friend, and the only man she has ever loved. They live in different towns, Sarcasm and Shipwreck, and the quirky residents of each town love to escalate the rivalry between them. Can two people find their way back to each other when everyone who supports them, acts like they hate them? This was so much fun to listen to. Grady was so charming, sweet, and caring. He was so swoony the way he wanted only the best for Annika. I could really relate to Annika’s strength and determination to help her family and her lack of cooking skills as well. They were so perfect together and their sexual tension and chemistry was off the charts. I also loved all their meddling family and friends who were so quirky, loving and supportive.
Jason Clarke, and Virginia Rose did a great job narrating this delightful romcom and bringing it to life. Their comedic timing and inflections were spot on as they they delivered Grants hilarious banter, and they easily made me feel all the turmoil, fun, and passion between these characters. They really made this hilarious, heartfelt, and steamy romance even sweeter!
Master Baker

Master Baker. What more can you want in a man? Someone who can make baked goods on demand! But that is not what this romantic comedy is about. Annika has come home to help her mother realize her dream. Just when she is about to open her bakery, she finds she is losing her sight and Annika will do anything to help her. The problem is, she can’t bake! One town over, in Shipwreck lives her old best friend Grady. The one that wanted her to wait for him while he went to culinary school, and now owns his own bakery. And the rivalry begins. Pippa Grant had him with baking and a town called Sarcasm! But she molds a laugh out loud, second chance romance into this amazing story that held me captive for hours. Grady is amazing. Incredibly supportive, talks to his flour, knows what Annika needs and is very competitive! Annika is struggling, but I love that. It’s nice to know she can be a soldier, but can’t make brownies! Add in her little sister, Bailey who is a total hoot and the goat and you will be laughing while eating some fresh baked cookies! Grab this one if you want to have a fun, enjoyable listen!
Virginia Rose and Jason Clarke bring our all the stops for this romcom. Fantastic comedic timing and voices to match the characters perfectly, we enjoy their interpretation of the story. Even the goat has a voice! What a team! Sit back and listen to this one, you won’t regret it!

Audiobook Review:
This was such a hilarious book. It was friends turned enemies but never really hated each other turned secret lovers. And their towns are rivals. But they’re both so funny about it. It’s like a hilarious Romeo and Juliet but with a goat who eats everything and a foul mouthed parrot and of course a happy ending.
Annika and Grady were best friends as kids but both went their separate ways after high school. Ten years later they meet again and so many laughs follow as their bakeries go to war. I loved the way Grady spoke to his dough. I loved how terrible Annika was with baking but how loyal she was to her mom and sister.
This was just a great story narrated by Jason Clarke’s delicious voice on Grady’s chapters and Virginia Rose giving the perfect tone for Annika’s characters. She’s definitely one I’d love to hear in more Rom-Com.
This is a great Romantic Comedy. Annika and Grady’s second chance to love, and enemies to lovers is fun and sweet. Grady is hilarious, sexy, handsome, and supportive. Annika is strong, caring, and beautiful. They are perfect together. The story is set in two rival towns, Sarcasm and Shipwreck. The supporting characters are great. I like the goat! The story has a beautiful ending. Virginia Rose and Jason Clarke did a great job with the narration. I enjoyed it.
5 Master Baker Stars
Master Baker is the fourth book in the Bro Code Series by Pippa Grant. This like all of Pippa’s books, was a joy to read. She really knows how to get you hocked so that you just can’t put the book down.
Grady Rock, the Master Baker, runs the only bakery in Shipwreck. He’s cakes are to die for and people come as far as Cooper Valley for his Banana Donuts. So when out of the blue his childhood friend and love of his life if anyone is asking, arrives back into town and announces that she is opening her own bakery one town over in Sarcasm! Well Grady is not impressed to say the least.
Annika Williams has arrived home after serving in the military, to her mother being blind and promising to help make her dream of a bakery a reality. One problem she can’t cook and this just happens to be one of many problems that fall in her lap along the way.
“You say chaos,” I tell her. “But the things that take us by surprise are what make life interesting.”
As with all Pippa’s books her secondary characters make her book brilliant. I laughed, I cried, I couldn’t put it down and I highly recommend picking this book up to escape the reality of the world right now!
Another fun and flirty book from Pippa Grant. I’m reading them slightly out of order but it was fun to read all about Cooper’s brother Grady and where those delicious sounding donuts came from. One of my favorite tropes is a second chance romance, and even though Grady and Annika weren’t really a couple back in high school, they both had all the feelings of a relationship beyond being best friends. When she comes back home from the military after being gone ten years, nothing has really changed for Grady, he can’t stop loving her. Watching them become friends to lovers was special, and that Sue was a part of it, hilarious. Not sure what is my next PG novel is to tackle, but I know I’m going to love them like I have these two.
Master Baker is a stand alone romance with some familiar characters here and there if your familiar with any of Ms. Grant’s books. Annika and Grady used to best friends in high school, but now they’re bitter enemies in the bakery world. But as their rivalry heats up, so does the chemistry between them. Is it possible to find their happy ending, or is their love just a decadent secret?
This book is full of laughs, some emotional ups and downs, passion for baking and each other, and I really enjoyed every moment I spent with this couple! My heart hurt for them a lot, as they had this competing bakeries between their budding relationship and rekindled friendship. But I was also smiling so hard at times due to their banter, their reactions, and above all, their love! Annika tries so hard and is the type of person to put her whole life on hold to help those she loves, even if it’s something she hates, like baking. Grady has such a huge heart, and I loved the steps he was willing to go to help Annika succeed, even if it was part of a lie to just make more money. I loved them together! I loved all of their interactions and the way the side characters (like Sue!) brought so much into the storyline and I just fell in love with Annika and Grady!
Sue! He’s a goat…he was a pretty important part of the story! Pippa can sure put a smile on my face. If you love goats, crazy humor, dirty talk, and pastries, then you have met your match! Master Baker was a laugh out loud, sexy read!
Grady’s life was his bakery, his secret – make the baked goods feel loved. But when his first love waltzed back into town, would there be enough to go around?
Annika moved back after years away; her family needed her and she didn’t hesitate. But when she came face to face with her past, she quickly became the enemy. Would she ever get her happily ever after?
Honestly, Pippa has a crazy sense of humor but it totally works. If I’m not shaking my head, I’m laughing out loud. Grady and his dirty talk, oh my! I’d be a pastry any day for him!
slow, after 4 chapters just couldn’t take any more.
I love all of Pippa Grant’s books and Master Baker was no exception. I enjoyed going back to visit Shipwreck and the characters there as well as the neighboring town of Sarcasm. Grady and Annika were great together and I liked both of them. I enjoyed their romance and their HEA.
