The Wilkerson DynastyMarsdenNorthWatsonBookerShawnBrandonWhen Marsden Wilkerson received the phone call that his mother had been in a car accident, he wasn’t letting anything get in his way to get to her. Not a pushy boss, and especially not his Aunt Eita. Then his world crumbled when the doctors told him that his mother, Holly, didn’t make it.Gabriella Farley, Abby, could hold her own, and she … it.
Gabriella Farley, Abby, could hold her own, and she wasn’t about to take any flack from a rich bitch like Penelope Wilkerson. All the Wilkerson women, with the exception of Holly, could fit that description. Abby stood up for Mars at the funeral home even though she really didn’t know him. What she did know was his mother, Holly, was a fine woman, and the family had given them both the shaft Mars’s entire life.
Mars wanted to apologize for his Aunt’s actions, but there was something about Abby that sparked a flame in his heart. From the first kiss, they knew they had something special, but going against the Wilkerson family could be very dangerous. Will this new love be doomed from the start?

Well first off, “Wilkerson Dynasty” is the epitome of a dysfunctional family!!! Cheese and crackers, these mothers could give “Mommy Dearest” pointers. When we were first introduced to Marsden, aka Mars, I didn’t think he had a very strong personality, which put me off a bit. And then we meet Gabriella, aka Abby. Talk about a Tasmanian devil! She’s a firecracker who has no problem telling anyone how the cow ate the cabbage. They have an instant attraction. They have a mutual need for comfort. From there, it grows quickly into a romance. This story is filled with, like I said previously, a very dysfunctional family, lies, secrets, attempted murder, a kidnapping, ** trigger warning** a rape, and some extremely vile characters. Then you have the love, loyalty, generosity, the epitome of family. What a great read. I can’t wait to start “North” next.
The Wilkerson Dynasty series is actually turning out to be one of my favorites from Kathi. While I don’t mind the paranormal series she writes, there is just something fun to read about just regular human people. I love that Abby was always there to back up Mars when his aunts would try to intimidate him or even after the conflicts when he would stand up but then start to feel guilty afterwards.
The women in the Wilkerson family are just horrendous! The things they put Holly through just because of their jealousy and constant need to be the center of attention. Then for them to turn around and try to treat Mars as if he’s nothing more than a peasant boy while he was growing up.
I will say I was sad that Holly’s brothers really did disappoint me, but only in the aspect that they seemed to check out so far in their lives that they didn’t see what their wives were doing right under their noses. Not just with Holly and Mars either, but to the people in the town and their own children. Many of them almost completely lost the chance to get to know their sons and their nephew.
**I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book**
