Helen has had little contact with the … beauty

Entertaining book. The entire series were very good. Easy read.
A great series
This is one of my favorite books! I have read it several times.
MARRYING WINTERBORNE is a standalone read with a happy ever after. There are sexy scenes if that is an issue. This is a great historical novel. No one writes them better than Ms Kleypas.
Helen is an innocent raised with a royal title. She is very attracted to the rough Welshman that owns Winterbourne – a store very much like Herrod’s. He is wealthy beyond words but he is not royal so he is not invited to mix with that group. He finds that he loves Helen but she seems to have rejected him. Little does he know that Helen is an innocent, not aware of the ways of men. She has never been kissed. So when he kisses her she pulls away and runs away. She is frightened because she does not know what is happening to her when he touches her. He thinks it is rejection.
They go through a lot of trials to begin their journey to a happy ever after. Just when she thinks that love is within her reach she suddenly finds herself being blackmailed and it may just ruin everything. There is a lot of history slipped in the story. It is exciting as you try to live like they did. It is a great story and you learn a lot of what it was like to live then. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and I definitely recommend it. A great read as you would expect.
I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less.
Love all her books!
I truly admired Lisa Kleypas’ ability to build the relationship and the intimacy was touching and real, I also enjoyed the sprinkling of Welsh words. I’m going through the rest of the series now.
I adore anything Lisa Kleypas writes! Her characters have depth, and Rhys and Helen definitely delivered. I’ve been team Helen since the first Ravenel book, and will continue to read about this fun, quirky family.
This is another enchanting addition to a wonderful series. I love the characters and all the amusing secondary characters, as well. I didn’t want the story to end. Perfection!
I LOVE anything by this author, Lisa Kleypas. She is a wonderful writer. This is such a wonderful story of a man that has everything and a woman that has been sheltered and how they can overcome all obstacles to make it.
This was an exceptionally well-written story. I am completely in love with this world and all the characters the author has created. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time!
Kleypas is a master at taking two complete opposites and creating a strong and deeply loving relationship, and she does so again here. It was wonderful watching Helen become confident in herself, not only with Rhys but eventually with others as well. She blossoms into a woman who is no less strong for being quiet and discovers who she is and what she wants out of life- whether or not Society says that she should. Rhys undergoes his own transformation into a man completely in love, and who is forced to question some of his own motives and preconceived ideas about life and what he wants. The two are definitely among my favorite characters- Rhys is one of those devils you just can’t resist and I loved every interaction between them.
Marrying Winterbourne picks up where Cold-Hearted Rake left off. While a new reader probably doesn’t need to have read Rake to enjoy Winterbourne, it would definitely help. Kleypas continues to create a seamless world around excellent characters and readers will get lost in this newest book and be desperately waiting for book 3. As Devil in Spring won’t come out until February, I suggest reading Kleypas’ Wallflowers quartet, since the teaser chapter promises that we’ll be seeing some familiar Wallflowers, their rakes, and rakish descendants come Spring!
This is the second book in the Ravenel series and continues with the eldest sister, Helen that we were introduced to in book one. Helen and her sisters were beyond sheltered, and she is incredibly shy. Rhys is a self made man who knows he wants her the second he sees her. At first he comes across as a large brute and she as a helpless, fragile little thing. Oh how wrong first impressions are. Great story; great series. Have read them all and an patiently awaiting the release of the newest one. You can never go wrong with a Lisa Kleypas book
Loved it! At the end of Cold Hearted Rake Helen’s engagement to Rhys Winterborne is broken for her – not cool. But Helen has backbone that goes farther than most people anticipate, and goes to get him back. Best of intentions run into a deprived man looking to ensure he doesn’t lose his most valuable prize again – Helen. And it goes on from there. I do enjoy how the little bits keep accumulating until that snowball eventually shows up with Helen riding it away, until she meets that immovable force – Rhys. You know it ends well … very well. Thank you LK!!
Well, I finished the book. Here’s my review of it. Marrying Winterborne was great! In the beginning, I thought that I would be bored. Guess what?! .
I wasn’t. There’s a name that I would love for my next grandchild’s name, Rhys. Where did that name come from?! Well, this name fit the lead character to a “T”. I was saying in my mind as I was reading the book.
You can be my protector baby and my bed mate. Whewwww. Rhys was rather steamy in this book. Can you imagine watching the Outlander while reading this book at the same time. I can and I did.
Lord have mercy, I think that I’m having the vapors. Lol. Back to the book, I know ladies. The book was an easy flow to read. I stayed interested in each page.
I loved the characters Devon, Katherine, the twins and West. I can’t wait to read his story. Anyway read the book if you like. Good book.
My favorite so far in this Ravenals Series. A keeper!
I read and reread this book so many times the library must have thought I had lost it from all my renewals.Steamy and well written I definitely recommend this book!
I started with this book first in the Ravenel series and fell in love with Helen and Rhys. Then I wanted to know more about their first encounter, so I read the first book of the series (Cold-hearted rake). It sort of filled in a gap of how their feelings for each other have developed initially, which was only briefly mentioned in this book. Regardless, it is a wonderful love story! I was not so impressed with Helen in the beginning, probably because of her reserved personality. But then along the way, I have found her so charming, strong, and determined. And Rhys, I fell in love with him right from the start! I love how he cared for Helen, then later her half sister, even after finding out their true background. How could you not love someone who is handsome, kind-hearted, and devoted to his lady, not to mention extremely rich? I’ve read it twice already and still haven’t got enough of Helen and Rhys 😀 This series is one of the best from Lisa Kleypas! I’m so looking forward to the final instalment of the series, which unfortunately won’t come out until next year!
i love this author and read all her books! Am starting to enjoy them on audio now too.
Love this author
Love this book! Rhys and Helen don’t seem to be a compatible couple, but yes, they are! Helen is a timid thing until her friend Kathleen interfers and her engagement to Rhys Winterborne is broken. She then finds some backbone and refuses to let him go. I enjoyed this book immensely. Especially learning about the prejudices against the Welsh people which I didn’t know about. For some reason I loved Rhys and his dark brooding good looks and powerful body against Helen’s smaller person. Boy, Lisa K. can really write a great, enjoyable story. A littlle bit steamy, but not overtly so. It was just right!
