By my past classification this should rate 5*. But I’m tightening down. It is in fact a lovely romance, well plotted and with a wash of good feelings. I enjoyed reading it.
I fell in love with Philip! Totally sincere, affable, and genuine. He is not comfortable with his new title and unfamiliar with the ways of nobility. He listened to his friend’s misplaced advice and landed himself married to Jane. Jane was trying to gain the notice of Lord Barnet whom she had had feelings for from afar for eight years. When she found herself married to Philip she was totally disillusioned and tried to avoid Philip at all costs. Her attempts were in vain as Philip was determined to get to know Jane better and allow her to get to know him. I absolutely loved the banter they shared and how Philip easily succeeded in making Jane laugh. Eventually Jane eased into the relationship. However, all was not smooth sailing as there were some bumps and twists along their way, but they happily overcame them. I was sincerely enamored watching these two grow together. Their romance was sweet and heartfelt and I loved the smile on my face when I finished reading it. Highly recommended.
A lighthearted romance that is sure to brighten your day.
I loved the main characters and the love and consideration Philip showed to Jane.
Their dialogue was fun to witness when they were playful… and their inner dialogue was sad—they had such self-doubt.
It was nice to see the couple romancing after their wedding.
A very enjoyable read. Great as part of the series, or as a stand alone. The story is a fun read and has wonderful details about the Brighton area. I found the characters to be very well created and believable. I recommend all 5 books in the series.
