“I’m all right, Chas.” Her quiet words stopped his erratic movements but not the frantic beat of his heart. Before he could think, he leaned in and took her mouth in a kiss.Lacy Williams is a USA Today bestselling author of the acclaimed Wyoming Legacy and Cowboy Fairytales series.About MARRYING MISS MARSHAL:She’s no lady…Danna Carpenter is town marshal. She’s not your typical marshal
No matter how well Danna Carpenter fulfills her duties as the marshal of Calvin, the townsfolk do not support and respect her like they did her husband Fred before he was murdered. None of the men will be her deputy or volunteer to be on a posse when situations arise and now someone in the town has hired a detective to investigate the cattle being rustled rather than even tell her there is a problem.
Chas O’Grady cannot believe the cowboy who saved his life is a woman, much less the marshal in the town he has been hired to investigate. It’s too dangerous a job for a woman especially when she has no deputies to help her, She needs to be safe at home doing womanly things, not carrying a gun, breaking up brawls, and hunting outlaws. As much as he dislikes being around her there is only one way to make sure she is safe and that is by signing on to be her deputy.
I wasn’t sure I was going to like this story when I first started reading, but the more I read the more I got pulled in, and by the end of the book I was in love with Danna and Chas. They had some difficult obstacles to overcome, both past and present. I enjoyed the two different epilogues but I prefer the rewritten epilogue to the original one. It left me feeling happier for the couple.
You want to keep reading to find out when she allows herself to believe she’s worthy of Chas’ love.
Lacy Williams has given a really strong female character in Marshall Danna Carpenter, but she may be great at shooting and tracking, but not so much at being a lady. Our hero is Danna’s opposite. Although a private detective, he has none of Marshall Danna’s frontier smarts. Charles O’Grady is an Easterner, has a revenge motive and continually underestimates the Marshall. Now throw in what we would now call a “street-wise” teenager and you have an interesting scenario. I really enjoyed this book and will immediately read the next one.
A good story.
I liked the storyline, however, the way the 2 main characters were forced into…. (Don’t want to give it away but I’m sure you’ll figure it out) didn’t line up the the strengths of either main character.
It was an entertaining story that was easy to read and filled my time nicely. Thank you!

I purchased a copy of the clean historical western romance Marrying Miss Marshal: Wild Wyoming Hearts Book 1 {Wind River Hearts book 1} by Lacy Williams and this review was given freely.
An attraction soon after first sight novel with a good plot with an atypical lead female role for the old west, a small town’s conspiracy, bank robbery, cattle rustling and revenge. It’s a bit repetitive but ends happily.
The illiterate twenty four year old recently widowed Calvin, Wyoming Marshal, Danna Carpenter and her horse King rescue Boston born private detective Chas O’Grady from a stampede.
I loved reading this Christian authors inspirational uplifting book.
Fun to read. Predictable
Interesting characters.
Very nice to read…lots of surprises and a very interesting story.
Miss Marshal was one tough cookie!
A story of strength, love, struggles in life and faith. A very enjoyable read.
I liked this book because it was different. It wasn’t the “normal” western.
This book is good if there are no others to read. I personally lose interest in book filled with what i call “thought rehash”. That’s when the author spends more time on the thoughts of characters than on the action of the story. At 50% of the book I quit reading.
A sweet story that left me feeling happy and content with my own marriage.
Loved this book.
I liked this book very much because of the unique plot for the story. The characters are believable and interact interestingly.
