This story was absolutely perfect. I loved how the characters made transitions from one stage to another. I loved how they were portrayed and shown to have flaws but overcame them. The heroine is one of favorites. She battled cancer, survived, and is staying strong even though she discovers that she might have breast cancer. She shows love and pain. Their story was a great one. Delia irritated me so much but I liked that she was redeemed a bit in the end. I hope she has a story. I look forward to the next book in this series.
This story follows Sy and Amy. Sy is two years older than Amy and the same year as her sister. They knew each other for years. Sy was head over heels for Amy’s sister, Delia. Amy was diagnosed with cancer when she was eleven. Sy and Amy became very good friends since they both shared interests. Then Sy was arrested when he was supposed to take Amy and Delia to prom. Amy didn’t know if she would survive for her prom.
Now Sy’s back in town with a plan to win back Delia and apologize to Amy. Then his eyes are opened by old friends and he realizes that Delia was selfish then and now. Along with that, he’s staying in the Bed & Breakfast that Amy owns. He starts falling in love with her. Amy was always in love with him. But there are so many obstacles. The two never realize that the other is in love. Will their ending be a happy one?

Wow! I loved Sy and Amy’s story! Sy’s made a lot of mistakes, the least of which was getting arrested on Prom Night. Through the years, he’s realized something is missing. He thinks it’s Delia. Little does he know, when he meets up with her and Amy again, Delia’s not the one! He realizes his friends were right, she’s definitely not for him! Love the way everyone else knew Sy really cared more for Amy than for Delia. When he finally realizes for himself, watch out! He finally gets things right with her this time around, and seeing it all take place is a great read!
I liked this story and I liked the main characters, Sy and Amy. I really, REALLY didn’t like Amy’s sister Delia though, and I couldn’t believe how self-centered, pushy, and even vindictive she was. How did it take so long for Sy to see what she was really like, and when he finally did, how could Delia not see he wasn’t interested in her anymore? Although I found it a bit unrealistic that she changed so dramatically at the end, I was glad that the sisters finally talked it out, and Delia didn’t continue to be mean and resentful of Amy. It was inspiring to me that Amy could show forgiveness after everything Delia had put her through. I guess that made it all the more satisfying to see Sy come to realize what a treasure Amy was, and give her the love and attention she deserved and needed so much. The fact that I experienced so many of the emotions along with the characters, particularly Amy, shows how good a storyteller Ms. St. Clair is. I look forward to reading more of her books and recommending them to others.. I received an advanced copy of this book from the author and this is my honest opinion.
An incredibly touching romance, this novel hit all the right notes for me. On a whim, impulsive Sy LaMarque returns to his home town for Christmas, with the idea that he will make right the mistakes of the past. Two women: one who was the centre of all his boyhood dreams and the other his best friend and soul mate. He had hurt them both by striking out, but he discovers only one of them really felt the pain. At his old friend’s instigation, Sy ends up staying in the family bed and breakfast run by Amy, and Sy discovers that the one his heart longs for is actually standing right in front of him. Getting between the rivalry of the two sisters puts Sy in an awkward position, especially when one of the sisters is used to getting what she wants at the expense of the other. Amy is also hiding secrets and it makes her realise that she cannot hold onto Sy if her future is uncertain. This novel is incredibly emotional and in parts painful, yet it is beautifully written, tugging at the heartstrings and making me want to weep for lost chances and wasted time. I received a copy of this well-written novel as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
I loved Stealing the Bad Boy! Sy has never really gotten over his high school crush. When his teammates and his family have other plans for Christmas, he goes back to try to make amends.
The characters are very well developed. The plot definitely has twists and turns! It is a sizzling, but clean romance. There is a depth to this story that is lacking in many romances. I enjoyed the humorous moments as well.
I highly recommend this to sweet/wholesome romance readers and to Christian fiction readers. I got my copy through KU.
Sy has it all. He is Mustang’s linebacker, his young dream. But his love is missing something. When he goes back to his hometown to apologise to the Winter’s sister for what happened in prom’s night little he knows that he will find what is missing. A second chance at love and happiness.
Wonderful, sweet, clean romance! Sy is adorable, Amy is awesome, and Delia, well, she’s Delia.
I found this to be an interesting and fun read. The characters were fascinating and the plot was well done. The characters were well written and definitely worth rooting for that all would be well.
Something(s) you may need to you:
– this book deals with / talks about cancer
– this is a rewrite of Sy & Amy’s story Mrs Emma added a extra 10,000 words
(If you NEVER read the original, you may have met Sy & Amy in Taming the Cowboy.)
– this a clean/ sweet romance
– this story talks about God but doesn’t over do it in my opinion
Have you ever had to watch the guy you have a crush on, like someone else while they treat you like a little sister, and you know all the emotions that come along with that right? ( I know I do)
Well Amy does but add on the girl your crush likes is your sister who is healthy and beautiful while you are fighting juvenile cancer which in turn makes you feel like a ghost girl.
But years later Sy comes back home as a grown man, will he finally see her more than a little sister and if he does? can she let him love her no matter what she goes through
I haven’t read the the original story of Sy & Amy so my review is solely based on reading Stealing the Bad Boy, when i met Sy & Amy in Taming the Cowboy i wanted to know their backstory.
Have tissues by you when reading this book because Sy & Amy story will break your heart, make you cry but in the end this story will have you believing in true love and mr. Right will stay no matter what may come
This story reminds me of A Walk to Remember, the movie ( its also a book but i never read it)
I received an ARC of this book from the author and I’m voluntary leaving my honest review
It was good to visit with the twins, Elton and Easton, again and to get to know Sy, Amy and Delia. Now I have to admit I keep thinking of Delia as Delilah thru most of the book but by the end she might have been a Delia. Amy has had a lot thrown at her and she definitely deserves a happily ever after and Sy is hers. It won’t be an easy path but I think they will get there. I always look forward to an Emma St. Clair book and the next one in this series promises to be a good one.
Stealing the Bad Boy is a sweet, clean, emotional romance with wonderful characters. Amy is a cancer survivor. Sy is a man seeking to make amends. This is an extremely well written book with many emotional ups and downs and, ultimately, an HEA. I encourage anyone who enjoys a clean, well written romance to read this book. You will not be disappointed.
Heartwarming and emotional story. I love it when best friends become more, it wasn’t an easy journey for them but I enjoyed reading about this couples as they get their second chance to be strong together. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I liked this book about making amends for something you did in the past that you regret. It certainly didn’t turn out how I first thought it would, however. Turned out to be much more interesting, sad & then an HEA. I’m glad the self-centered sister finally woke up to the truth of herself & changed. I received an ARC. This is my voluntary, honest opinion.
Which sister will he choose?
This is a updated version of a story I’ve read before.
Six years ago, Sy was going to take his girly girl crush to prom (along with her ill sister, Amy). That didn’t go well.
So, now Sy is back, looking for a second chance with his dream girl, Delia. Not Amy, the girl he actually hung out with and had fun with as just friends.
Of course, Amy always had a crush on Sy.
Will he ever wake up and see Amy?
I originally read this book under the total of Her Second Chance Dream Groom and reread it under the new title with additional content. I loved it the first time and I loved it even more the second time I read it.
Sy and Amy’s story is gut wrenching at times but it is such a story of true love and devotion. I have read a book later in the story that gives an update on Amy’s condition and Sy is still by her side, always.
This story is definitely worth reading again and again and again! Love it!
I had an ARC copy of this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. I really enjoyed this story about Sy and Amy. Emma St Clair does a great job of storytelling, and this book is no exception. I liked that she included real problems like cancer and sibling rivalry, and how the characters worked through their issues.
A romantic story of best friends who realize they are more than that, even though they have not seen each other in over six years. It was nice that the impulsive, bad boy named Sy, really had a heart of gold, especially where Amy was concerned. I liked that he was able to apologize to Amy and her sister, Delia for his actions back in high school. It was also nice to see Amy not be overshadowed by her beautiful sister Delia, whose heart was definitely not made of gold. This was a touching tale of overcoming cancer too. I received an advance copy of this story and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
This is such a good book!
I really enjoyed reading it.
