NICE NOVELLA!
It’s Christmas Season and the Wedding Belles gang are looking forward to three things in this Novella: finishing the Wedding for a Bride who acts like a Scroogzilla; waiting (im)patiently for the list of top vendors listed in the Capital Weddings Magazine (supposedly being listed can make you or break you); and planning their own Christmas party for Wedding Belles and their favorite vendors and friends. Annabelle Archer & her assistant Kate have a knack for solving mysteries – even murder mysteries. Which is quite a conundrum for Annabelle’s boyfriend Reese who’s a police detective. He wants her to be safe not running around chasing bad guys! Particularly not during the holidays! This time they don’t find a body, but Buster & Mack & find a BABY instead! It’s a beautiful baby girl! She was left on the steps of their church. Everyone is concerned but not sure how to help. They all know the don’t want the baby to get put in the foster system. Everyone pitches in to help care for “Merry” but Annabelle & Kate are relentless in finding her Mother. If you’ve read any of the other books in this series you know Annabelle is relentless when she sets her mind onto something! The adventures they get into are something else! Durham writes wonderfully descriptive passages that make you feel as though you are right beside them experiencing everything they do! It’s great entertainment and fun characters that you grow to love more and more with each book. I was provided an ARC of this book by the Author. The opinions expressed here are completely my own and without influence.
The first Christmas book in this wonderful mystery series is a complete winner. I’m usually a bit turned off by the term “heartwarming” because it sounds so bland and pollyannaish but the Author, Laura Durham, manages to both warm the heart and tickle the funny bone at the same time. All Durham’s wedding planner books contain huge helpings of humour without losing their strong narrative drive but Marry and Bright is the funniest to date. A perfect holiday read!
While Annabelle and Kate are decorating Annabelle’s apartment for their Christmas party Mack and Buster show up with a baby that was left at the boys Biker church! Not knowing what to do they enlist Annabelle and Kate’s help to track down the baby mom. During all of this they meet up with their bride from California and lets just say that she is not into a Christmas themed wedding! During all of this Richard has a melt down over a list he didn’t make of the most popular caterers. Great story and full of surprises! Another great one from Laura Durham!
I loved Marry and Bright. This is a fun and interesting Christmas mystery. I love the characters. They are quirky and entertaining. It is fun to get to know Buster and Mack more in this book. The mystery was interesting and the ending was perfect. A perfect Christmas book.
A good book from the ‘Wedding Planners Mystery’ series story, an interesting mystery to solve. Characters are engaging. It is a well-written book and a pleasure to read.
