Going from vivacious society belle to widow wallflower can leave a lady wanting… charity.
Unfortunately, her sudden interest in all things philanthropic is marred by the presence of one Ambrose Creasey. For some unknown reason, this handsome cad has decided to cast aside his reputation as a rake, and take up the mantel of charitable patron.
As the Earl of Newhaven, Ambrose has enjoyed his life of delicious debauchery. But recently the earl has hungered for more noble pursuits. A charity seems to be the perfect outlet for his newfound desire to be more than just a rake. And of course, he doesn’t mind the aid of a beautiful, well-connected woman like Joanna… Especially when he cannot resist riling her a time or two.
After all, she does rise so beautifully to the challenge.
Focusing on their work is harder than either of them thought. There’s no denying the attraction between them, but is Ambrose truly prepared to cast aside his hedonistic history? And even if he does, is Joanna ready for a new love?

Johanna Lockhart is a young widow who is tired of being coddled and wants an activity acceptable during her mourning period. Ambrose Creasey, Earl of Newhaven, has reached the age of thirty and has decided that it is time to leave his life of debauchery behind. He wants an honorable purpose in his life. Johanna decides to devote her time to raising funds for charity. Fate steps in. The charity she chooses is one established and financed by Ambrose’s family, and which he now heads. These two will work toward the same purpose, to build and operate a new children’s hospital. Will this work give either of them the new life they seek?
Johanna and Ambrose are good for each other. There is great chemistry between them. Ambrose admires Johanna for standing up for herself. She loves that he is supportive and understanding. Married to the Earl is a story of change and moving on. Emotions run hot and the road get a little bumpy, but happily ever after is worth it. This is a quick and engaging story. I enjoyed it and definitely recommend it.
An entertaining read.

Married to the Earl- The Wallflower Brides Book 3)”
by Samantha Holt is a tale of one Joanna Lockhart…a beautiful widow…after the tragic loss of her husband and a horrible illness herself …she’d looking for a new lease on life…and has decided to devote her life to a charity. Unfortunately one
Ambrose Creasey ….The Earl of Newhaven is also searching for new meaning in his life as well…and has chosen to be a patron to charities…in fact one particular charity…one associated with a handsome lady named Joanna. This philanthropic bent both of them have independently chosen has set the two in a collision course for romance…albeit with a bit of a rocky start. The children’s hospital fulfill both their need to be useful …and the attraction the two share fulfills each of their empty hearts. Will all this lead to a HEA!!? Read and See! Much enjoyed and Highly Recommended. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Copy of this book.

I enjoyed reading Ambrose and Joanna’s story. She’s a young widow and he’s an Earl who is searching for something. Both end up volunteering at a charity and end up finding more than they ever imagined. I loved the way their relationship started out innocent and they ended up falling for each other. This book is filled with humor, drama and a sweet clean romance.
This was such an enjoyable read. Joanna and Ambrose are so perfect for each other. After losing her husband and an experiencing an illness that nearly took her life, she is ready to live again. And Ambrose is just the person to help her do that. The chemistry between the two is great and the witty banter between the two was so much fun to read! Regency romance is my favorite genre and this book was really on point! I haven’t read the first two in the series, but they are now definitely on my To Read list!

Joanna is a recently widowed young lady who is looking for a way to fill her days while still observing her mourning period. As she considers her options she hits upon working with a local charity to raise funds for a hospital for children. Ambrose is a bored rake, looking for meaning in life when he decides that he should get involved in the family charity – the hospital. As they work together to raise funds for the needy children, Ambrose and Joanna begin to see each other differently, the only problem lies in the fact that Joanna is not so sure she should give Ambrose a chance.
Seeking Fulfillment and Purpose
I have read a great number of Samantha Holt’s books because she rights in my favorite romance genre, Regency. I have found her books to be of variable quality. I have to say, though, that I thoroughly enjoyed this particular romance. The heroine has been through so much before the book opens. A recent young widow, she is just up from what could have been her deathbed. When she arises, she knows that she wants to do more than simply be a grieving widow. Back in those days, mourning periods were expected to be observed. With her friend, she comes up with a plan to do some charity work, as that would be an acceptable venue for her. The hero was quite her opposite, yet they end up having similar motivations. He is termed both a rake and a rogue—or as the heroine thought of him, “a rake of a rogue”–but he has decided after one more bad night of carousing and drinking, that he should find more fulfilling, meaningful ways of living his life. I loved his first discussion with his butler, Bram. It was pretty darned funny and very revelatory to the reader—as well as the debauched earl.
The hero and the heroine clash at first. She knows his reputation and is not terribly pleased to be working on what ends up to be his family’s charity’s new hospital. But in their first meeting, she determines that his rude questions or apparent lack of faith in her will not deter her. As you might imagine from what I’ve laid out, their relationship has quite an interesting trajectory, but I will let you discover that for yourself. I enjoyed the natural banter between her and her friends and her and the hero. At heart, both of these characters are good people, even if in one that aspect was a little more buried. I like it when both the hero and heroine come across as ultimately decent people. All in all, I found this to be a very enjoyable Regency read.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
Highly entertaining, witty, fun and engaging journey filled with exciting charters, heart racing twists and undeniable passion…. was a great read. Really enjoyed this emotionally thrilling adventure!
Joanna is tired of being the poor window girl, waking up back home after falling seriously ill has her reconsidering a lot of choices in her life. She is starting with, getting herself back out into the land of the living as soon as possible.
Ambrose is considered a rake in all the social circles and he is looking to make a change. Not sure how to go from cad to patron, but getting involved with Joanna helps motivate him tremendously.
Joanna and Ambrose have a relationship born in angst but grows over time. Does Joanna want to be someone’s wife again? Will Ambrose be able to fully drop the cad lifestyle? I enjoyed the roller coaster this book took me on, there is a thin line between love and hate as they say.
As a relatively new fan of Samantha Holt’s I enjoyed this latest entry as well. I haven’t read the first two book in the series though I have just downloaded book one to dive into. 4 stars for a book I read in advance without expectations, all opinions expressed are my own.
A young widow trying to start over. Will she or won’t she be able to find another love with the rake. A well thought out plot and the characters are believable.

MARRIED TO THE EARL is the third book in the Wallflower Brides series.
I have loved all three of the books in this Regency Romance series, but have to admit that I have been looking forward to Joanna’s story. It turns out she was the perfect daughter, the perfect debutante, the perfect wife, but she isn’t doing so well as a widow. She has bottled up her emotions and pushed her purposes towards others. When she pushes herself into charity work, and ends up working with Ambrose, that’s the beginning of her facing her past and being able to face her future…. Sigh!
Ambrose Creasey, Earl of Newhaven, is the very definition of rogue and rake, but he has become disillusioned with his own reputation. Delving into the family’s charity puts him onto the path with the pretty widow. Knowing her makes him realize it is worth making big changes in his life, not just out of a desire for something different, but to be better for her… sigh again!
Their path may be bumpy, but the road to true love usually is. Their story is wonderful and touching. It is beautiful and I loved every moment of reading it.
Note: While I received this book as a gifted ARC via Booksprout, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

Another sweet story from Samantha Holt. Both Joanna and Bram are on a path to make their lives more worthwhile. They decide to work on the same charity which puts them in each other’s company frequently. As they work together and trade barbs they realize that there is an attraction to each other. The conversations are sharp and witty which moves the story along at a quick pace.
A lovely meeting of two people who are just bored. Joanna, a widow was ready to do stop being treated
with kid gloves, after her husband had passed away and then she had a serious illness, almost losing her life. What’s a lady to do? Charity work. Yes, she was great talking to people and could raise funds, use her organization skills… The Creasey Charity for Children and their new hospital. Maybe that is why she had dreamed of the Earl of Newhaven. “It had been a sign,” this was what she should do.
Ambrose, Earl of Newhaven had come to the conclusion, his carefree, wait no, somewhat rakish, no make that debauched life was growing old. He wanted to do more. His family’s charity was just the thing and the focus of the new hospital was just the thing.
Yes, it was fate that brought these two together and was a delightful journey as they tried to find their way to happiness! Loved these two and the secondary characters. This series has been wonderful and I have enjoyed every story! Prepare to be enchanted!!
Joanna wanted more out her life that being pitied for being a widow. Her friends encourage her to get involved in a charity and she decides on one that Ambrose, the Earl of Newhaven’s family has founded. He is a rake who spends his time drinking and seducing women when he wakes up one day with a hangover deciding that he wants to make a change and find a purpose, particularly getting more involved with his family’s charity. Joanna is strong willed and determine to push forth her ideas to make it succeed while fight off her attraction to Ambrose. She makes him want to be a better man even if his useless selfish friends can’t see it. This was a sexy funny Regency romance. It is part of a series and I enjoyed catching up with those characters, but it wasn’t necessary to read the previous two stories to follow along.
Book three of The Wallflower Brides series a well written story with a very good storyline, the story flowed smoothly from page to page. I want to read more in this series. Joanna Lockhart is a young beautiful widow she meets Ambrose Creasey the Earl of Newhaven to help at the charity she is part of. One rake can change for love. ONE ENTICINGLY DELIGHTFUL TREAT!!!
Fabulous! Samantha unleashes one unique spin with this tantalizing, mesmerizing, sensational, prize winning wonder, melding this baby together piece by piece seamlessly. Sparks fly as drama, intrigue, turmoil and soaring intensity, along with unexpected situations and a boatload of thrills, makes for one block busting adventure. Satisfying is an understatement so profound, you have to read it to believe it. A churning eddy of unexpected circumstances and inadvertent events catapults this baby into the eye of the storm, blowing it into a tailspin with an unbelievable culmination. Toss in all the charm, brilliance and splendor, along with such an overwhelming determination for a new beginning sets the pace for one mind-blowing experience. The undeniable attraction and intense chemistry sizzles as each layer is peeled back exposing a deep connection and amplifying affections, binding them together perfectly. The characters are authentic and realistic with depth and qualities that transform into amazing personalities. The scenes are so abundantly detailed and descriptive to give you a full understanding and realism that balance and blend smoothly. Fantastic job Samantha, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.
Joanna has just recovered from losing her husband Noah and a severe illness and now she wants to help with a charity. She joins known rake Ambrose, Lord Newhaven, with his family children’s hospital charity not thinking he would actually want to work along with her. His attraction is one that can not be denied but she knows he is not the settling down kind but what she does not know is he has grown tired of his old lifestyle and wants to become a better person. The more time they spend together the closer they become. Can Ambrose prove to Joanna that he is a changed man and wants to future with her?
Joanna Lockhart was fortunate to have a good marriage, although it was not destined to be a long one. Not only was she widowed only a short time after her marriage, but she was struck by a serious illness and almost lost her own life. Staying with her parents who are taking care of her through her recovery, she is both grieving loss of her husband and bored without something worthwhile to occupy her time. Limited in the acceptable activities she can be involved with during this period of mourning, she decides that she can do charity work for the Creasey Children’s Charity.
Ambrose Creasey, Earl of Newhaven, is a known rogue who is finally becoming tired of the partying, drinking, and carousing that is just wasting his time. He wants to do something useful and be appreciated, and he looks at the charity that his family started and funds as a possible place to begin.
Ambrose and Joanna join forces in a fundraising effort for the children’s hospital in the country aimed at providing help to people living on the outskirts of London. Ambrose is attracted to her intelligence and charm. Can he convince her that he has given up his former pastimes and is no longer the rake he used to be? Will she see he is sincere and trying to be a better person than his reputation had indicated? Is she ready to move on to a new relationship after so recently losing her beloved husband?
I really enjoyed this story and the characters that were so well portrayed and likable. The interactions among the various characters and their banter with each other gives the reader even more insight into the people they are. It makes everything believable and that much better. Grab your copy and see if there is a future for these two, or if it’s too soon to tell!
