Marine veteran Maddy Jeffers never expected her most demanding and daunting mission would come off the battlefield. Ordered to infiltrate a Seattle terrorist cell, Maddy must pose as a loving wife to Major Hunter Hines. The undercover role begins to feel all too real when Maddy falls hard for the rugged, macho Marine.
Duty and discipline are Hunter Hines’s credo, guiding every decision and … decision and every action. But constant proximity with the fierce and enticing Maddy is veering his mission wildly off course. Although their role as man and wife is only pretend, there is nothing false about his out-of-control desire for his partner.
When Maddy’s life is threatened by an ISIS cell, protecting her becomes the only mission that matters, and Hunter is willing to break all the rules to save her. As the danger heats up around these two veteran heroes, Maddy and Hunter must walk a narrow path between passion and survival.

This has been a grand Sunday afternoon. A perfect book to read; the sun is shining;and, the quiet house calls my name. Having read the other “Fire” books, I looked forward to this one about marriage. It is funny but serious; it is a military driven story;and, Maddy Jeffers is the cutest thing I’ve read about recently. Being assigned to work undercover with Major Hunter Hines had given her mixed emotions but she eagerly accepted the duty as she had the expertise in languages of the Afghanistan people. I really liked the fact that it is a shorter book for one afternoon and this book has the plus factor of an added story about A Christmas Wedding Ceremony. It’s great to get the bonus content after this exciting story-line. Thanks
Loved this story about Maddy and Hunter. Nice to have 2 military marry each other for a change. Both tough marines who aren’t sure how to handle their undercover assignment. Lots of action and a beautiful ending.
I’m a total sucker for a story with undercover military and when one is a woman – I just had to read it.
I loved the attraction that both Maddy and Hunter felt toward each other but pretended wasn’t there. That was working out fine for them until they had a mission where they had to go undercover as husband and wife. They were marines. They could do this. Until playing their parts started to get real and the PDA they had to do for the operation wasn’t something the had to do but wanted to do.
I liked how skilled these two were. They were in a dangerous situation, in an area where they had to speak another language but handled it calmly. I especially liked how protective Hunter was when Maddy was in danger.
I loved this book. The suspense of finding out what they were going to do to find the terrorist cell had me on the edge of my seat. They worked great together, handling everything that came at them. I liked it even more when their relationship got more heated.
If you like sexy, action-packed suspense, I recommend Marriage Under Fire.
This is a lovely romance with a couple of steamy scenes and a bit of “fighting the terrorists” action. Maddy and Hunter are great characters, and it was excellent to see the rest of the gang together at the end! A good read.
An action packed story! Wonderful characters and a nice story line. I liked the relationship between the hero and the heroine.
Marriage Under Fire: Book Four in The Grayce Walter Suspense Series (The Grayce Walters Suspense Series) (Volume 4), my eighteenth read from author Jacki Delecki and I have to admit I was only familiar with this author from the Code Breakers series and then her Impossible Mission series before starting this series! I’d gotten this book back in December of 2018 & other books got in the way of my reading it. No matter what era she writes in you can always count on wonderful character development.
A Marine’s Christmas Wedding (The Grayce Walters Romantic Suspense Series Book 5). As always I look forward to the next book in this series, they’re that good. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 – July 24, 2018
This is part of the Grayce Walters Mystery series but can be read as a standalone, although mention is made to events outwith the book, there is enough information given for me to fill in the blanks. I tend to read series out of order, whether by accident or design I don’t know!
Maddy Jeffers & Hunter Hines are both serving Marines. They have a passing acquaintance prior to this book as Maddy is friends with Hunter’s sister. But having just come off a mission together, they are stuck right back in the line of fire, this time though they have to act as a married couple.
They certainly didn’t need any help in the passion department to act as newly weds, their slow burn of attraction has been bubbling for a while and now they are both given the chance to explore it. But both are very conscious that the mission comes first.
Great tightly wound story, characters to empathise with and a tangible danger for them to deal with.
“Marriage Under Fire” is book four in the Grayce Walter’s Suspense Series. I really enjoyed this book. The character of Hunter Hines comes back as the hero in this book. He was first portrayed in book one as a very dark character. And the heroine Maddy Jeffers is the girl that Grayce was searching for in Book 1. I liked Hunter’s character in this story. When Maddy and Hunter are assigned to work under cover together as a married couple, all kinds of sparks fly. A definite must read in this series.
