I very much like this series. I’ve read #1 and #4. Need to back fill with #2 and #3. Hoping there will be #5 and #6 in the near future! Violet and Kyle are “damaged” people with a strong network of friends. They are imperfect and while the story is not a surprise per se, it is quite compelling. There was one red herring with Meg that never went anywhere. BTW I love the small town along the California coast — wish I could move there today!
Another hit from Cliffside Bay …Faced with the arrival of his young daughter whose mother died in childbirth playboy Kyle is in desperate need of a nanny. Enter Violet who needs housing for her and her three year old son Dakota. As the two overcome their dislike for each other sparks begin to fly. Can Kyle
Overcome the memories of his impoverished childhood? Will Violet open herself to love again. Cliffside Bay soon has romance in the air as plans for Honor’s wedding to Zane begins to take shape. The holiday season. Approaches, who will reconnect and gain acceptance with their family. Marred # 4 in the series fits the lives of Violet and Kyle as they both struggle to overcome their childhood.
A great read!!!
I’ve enjoyed all of the books in this series.
Great series.
Relaxing and entertaining.
Each book in this series builds upon the last, leaving the reader only wanting more!
Violet and Kyle each find themselves at a crossroads in their lives. They don’t really like each other but as the story unfolds it turns out that helping each other is the answer to their problems. Through helping each other their dislike turns into friendship and puts them on a shared path.
A wonderful story!
Kyle is known as a player. He doesn’t want to settle down. Until one day a woman shows up with a baby he has fathered and everything changes! But Kyle has a past that no one knows about that haunts him. Violet is a struggling, single mother trying to make ends meet and take care of her son. Her business fails and she’s left jobless. Kyle needs a nanny. Violet needs a place to live and a job. The two can’t stand each other! But Kyle hires her to take care of his daughter. Little by little their hatred towards one another starts to disappear and they both find themselves caring for and falling for the other. Kyle lets his guard down and they both share their hurts and why they are the way they are. It changes everything. A match no one saw coming! This was my favorite story in the Cliffside Bay series!! I think Kyle and Violet are perfect together and I just adored their relationship and how Kyle was changed from the inside out once he had his daughter in his life!
This was a great read!!
Cliffside Bay Series’ release day and Tess Thompson’s pen does not disappoint. She, in fact, pairs two characters who have clearly been at odds. Kyle has a difficult personality due to childhood battles and the need to become the best at what he does. At the expense of all things including relationships he accomplishes that by resolving not to be attached…..to anyone. When fully reattaching himself to Cliffside Bay, and once again, succeeding in establishing its newest business boon, a surprise lands at his door. Violet, a single mother with a child, is struggling as her small business falters. She and Kyle have often butted headsin previous CB books, due to his business personae. Ms Thompson once again brings a heart pulling story to life, rearranging the lives of these two. The Cliffside Bay Series is wonderfully written blending the lives and families of the college roommates who have returned to their home town and begun to settle into life. Enjoy these characters and their journey. You will not be disappointed.
I received an ARC for Marred and this is my honest review.
Marred is phenomenal. In following suite of the authors first books, Marred can be read without reading the previous books. Although Marred is a bit more “adult”, I would feel comfortable recommending this book. Its the perfect love story of two competitive reviles being thrown together. Many twists and turns but a lovely happily ever after
A wonderful feel-good story that will take you through its pages of how two families, from different sides of the tracks come together through similar past experiences of hurt, neglect, and survival.
As our two main characters, Kyle and Violet strive to grow away from the grips of childhood tragedy and young adulthood disappointments and towards a life of consistency, healing and the search for family values (with the support of a VERY close-knit group of friends) they find themselves and their past haunting situations thrown together by circumstance…..
This story will grab you from the start until the very last punctuation mark of its final page.
It will infuriate, it will pull at the heart strings.
It will stomp at you AND hug you. You will feel it all…..but most importantly, you’ll feel how truly vulnerable and fragile people can be, but brought together when the stars align, how powerfully love and understanding can win over any situation.
It is written beautifully; flowing seamlessly as two worlds are brought together for these individuals that deserve so much more than life has handed them. The characters, so believable and the description of a place called Cliffside Bay, so well thought out that you’ll feel as if you’re home.
I thank #TessThompson for her writing, her story of #Marred, and her ability to capture the reader. It’s a true winner!

This book is absolutely amazing. These 2 started out as enemies. She was protesting his building. Told him he was destroying the town. Now he needs her help. An unexpected package got dropped off at his doorstep. Now he needs her help to figure out what to do with a baby. She needs him after her business fails and her parents are kicking her out. He needs her around the clock. It’s a win win.
They got to know each other and figured out they are what was expected. They fall slow and hard. What could possibly happen next…..
Absolutely loved this book and probably will read the whole series.
I love this addition to the series. I had a feeling these two were getting together but I couldn’t picture how. Tess Thompson brought it together beautifully and I ended up with warm fuzzies. I definitely recommend it but read the series in order so you aren’t lost on the other things happening around them.
WOW the books just keep getting better, lovable characters and great story of Kyle and Violet. Both came from challenging backgrounds and the story is unpredictable and exiting.
Marred by Tess Thompson is book four in the Cliffside Bay Series. This is Kyle and Violet’s story. It is an enemies to lovers story. Oh my goodness, this series just keeps getting better and better. My heart completely broke for Kyle. He had such a horrible childhood. This book goes into detail how horrible it truly was for him. Violet has also had a rough life. They both end up in situations where they need each other. Two people could not be more different, which makes for great reading. Kyle has completely stole my heart! He gave me all the feels! The other dogs and wags are scattered through out this story as well. I loved reading how their relationships have progressed. This is a fantastic series and you should read them all. But they could easily be read as standalone.
Marred is the latest installment of the Cliffside Bay Series by Tess Thompson. Even though this book is number four in the series, it can be read as a stand alone. Every time I read one of the Cliffside Bay Books I say this is my favorite. Each one is better than the next. The Dogs and their wives/girlfriends have become like family. You care about the lives of each character. It is about adversity, friendship, romance, and love. I do not want this series to end.
Tess Thompson returns us to Cliffside Bay with another heartwarming romance about two people who thought love was for everyone but them. Kyle and Violet both have emotional scars from childhood. Strong and resilient, both Kyle and Violet survived, carving out lives and establishing friendships in Cliffside Bay with all the same friends … except each other. When Kyle unexpectedly has a newborn daughter delivered to him, he reluctantly he reaches out to Violet in desperation as she is the only one in their circle who knows how to care for babies. Violet, in need of a job, puts aside her intense dislike for Kyle and agrees to become his nanny.
Kyle and Violet have to overcome their childhood traumas, their single dimension views of each other and their polar opposite concepts of what is good for Cliffside Bay to find common ground, respect and ultimately love. With believable characters and appearances from our friends featured in the earlier Cliffside Bay books, this is a heartwarming easy read. A return to Cliffside Bay is a great choice for anyone who enjoys second-chance romances.
Marred: Kyle and Violet is Tess Thompson’s 4th book in the Cliffside Bay series. It is such a perfect story. If you read this series, each book feels like returning home. You find your friends are still there in the story waiting to support each other and to draw you to their close-knit town. You will experience many emotions as you swim through the pages. I felt anger, downright dislike, happiness, joy and contentment as the characters bloomed in my mind. I honestly can’t wait until the next book in the Cliffside Bay series so I can return home once again through the words of Tess Thompson. I highly recommend this book as well as the whole series. You won’t be disappointed!
Amazing book!! To be able to jump back into Cliffside Bay right where Jaded left off…I just can’t emphasize how much I adore these books…this series. I truly wish this series will never end! I loved how much Violet and Kyle hated each other in the previous books…just knowing how explosive it would be if they could every work through their hate. And to have Kyle-who needs nobody-needing Violet’s help…sigh. I just can’t recommend this book…this series enough. One click this book…you will not regret it!
Tess Thompson does it again! Just like the first 3 books of the Cliffside Bay series, she sucks you into the lives of the Dogs and the women who capture their hearts. Kyle and Violet’s story is my favorite so far and I can’t wait to read the next book!
