MARLEY IS A COMPANION NOVEL TO CARNAGE #1&2, WHICH SHOULD BE READ FIRST.‘So, they want me to write a book? They want to know about my band, my life, my loves and my losses. But they have no idea what they’re asking for. If I give them what they want, they’ll get so much more than the sex and drugs and the rock and roll they’re expecting. They’ll get the secrets that I’ve kept for so long, … so long, they’ll get an insight into the person I really am, or at least was. They think they know my story, they know nothing.
If I do this, if I write honestly and give them the ugly truth, people will get hurt. People that I love, people that have already suffered in the worst possible ways.
Do I do this, or do I walk away? Taking my secrets to the grave.’
Marley is an adult contemporary romance. It contains content suitable only for grownups with an open mind. There are scenes of group sex which include m/f/m a little bit of f/m/m and even some f/f/f/m/m/f/f/f. There is drinking and drug taking involved. A lot of swearing, some Essex slang and some very high emotion. Please don’t complain after reading this book that you wasn’t warned.
And yes, of course you’ll need tissues.

So many years have passed and life takes us on many paths, we share our best and worst moments with our family and friends. A young lad named Marley had a dream to create a band “Carnage” while playing in his summerhouse. Who knew that they’d become such a huge success and he’d get to share it with his best mate Macca and his older brother Lennon. Whilst his dreams came true, at times it was more of a nightmare.
As the title suggests this is Marley’s story, it’s told from his POV. His rock Ash questions his decision on publishing a tell all book, will he and what secrets will be revealed? Sometimes we are in the present and at times we revert to the past looking back as things unfolded. I’m a fan of this style of writing and I also love the language used by the author. It doesn’t feel forced it feels relatable, real, honest and raw. There’s no sugar coating with Marley, it’s an open book with warts and all. I didn’t think it could but each book gets better.
I saw this cover at a signing and thought wow I want to read that book just for the cover. Book friends who had read it told me it was good but to prepare myself. I didn’t quite know what they meant. It’s very hard to read a book when all you want to do to cry. You have to be heartless if this book doesn’t tear you up.
Brilliant!!
Marley has melted me!!
I absolutely love the style this book is written in. I thought I knew what this story would be like….but I had absolutely no idea; it was 1000 times better than I could ever have imagined.
You think you know someone, but you don’t them until you’ve read their autobiography and that is what I felt like I was reading.
One scene in particular absolutely broke my heart, even more than the first time around I think.
Brilliantly written and highly recommended.
4.5 stars only because it didn’t quite hit me emotionally like the previous books in the series did. Carnage #2 for me put Marley on my radar more than in the first and I was intrigued by him so much that I knew I had to go straight in and read his POV. I am so glad that I did, although I’m not sure if I want to hug him or throttle him. I loved hearing how his life had been and currently is (the book goes from past to present times) and how being in a successful band and events that happened over the years had affected him. This book gave me more of an insight as to how others were feeling and coping with situations too, and I loved that. I loved that I got to understand more and discover the feelings behind revelations in the previous books. Ash I adore! She’s amazing and I loved getting to know her better.
A fantastic book that you will not want to put down. A definite must read once you’ve finished books 1&2 in the series.
I loved both the Carnage books and I couldn’t wait to read Marley’s POV and to find out what happened during the missing four years when Georgia and Sean were apart.
This book starts off where book two left us. Marley is approached to write a biography for the story of Carnage and so the story takes us right back to the beginning.
Although we knew most of the story there were still some secrets to be revealed. My heart just broke several times over. Although I knew what was coming for the most part it still didn’t stop me crying like a baby. That is the brilliance of this author. The ability to still make you cry even when you know what’s coming.
I absolutely fell in love with Marley. I think out of all the members of Carnage, Marley was the one that I loved the most, he had me howling with laughter. I felt the turmoil he faced between being loyal to his best friend a band member Sean and his sister with keeping Sean’s secrets.
LJ is firmly one of my top 5 authors. Her writing is easy, down to earth and written in English English. I love the slang and English sense of humour. I just get it!
