Her life was torn down to the foundation. Rebuilding will take one small miracle at a time. The Treading Water Series, Book 2“Marking Time” continues the story begun in “Treading Water” as Clare Harrington begins a new life. She’s considered a miracle, but everything that’s happened since she recovered from a three-year coma has been something less than miraculous. Now left to grapple with the … something less than miraculous. Now left to grapple with the aftermath of a selfless decision, she is home from the hospital and trying to figure out what the next chapter in her miraculous recovery has in store for her. Meanwhile, her eighteen-year-old daughter Kate, a talented singer and songwriter, sets out to pursue her musical dreams in Nashville. Her parents have agreed to allow Kate to spend a year there, but they couldn’t have anticipated Kate falling in love with a much older man. Her newly divorced parents are forced back together to confront their wayward daughter. Spanning from Newport, Rhode Island, to Nashville, Tennessee, to Stowe, Vermont, “Marking Time” is the story of new beginnings and new loves.
Of “Treading Water,” reviewers said:
“Treading Water is a definite must read! Treading Water creates an emotional firestorm within the reader. It shines the light on the good and the bad in life and proves that one moment can change everything and it’s never too late to find love. Marie Force grabbed my heart and squeezed every ounce of emotion out of it but most importantly her monumental story left me blissful. Treading Water may be fiction but it gives me hope; hope in everyday people and happily ever after. I cannot wait for the next book in this trilogy, Marking Time.” —Joyfully Reviewed, a “Recommended Read” for November!
“This isn’t your typical romance where you’re positive you’re going to get the happy ending you were hoping for at the beginning. It will rip your heart out at times and having you weeping for joy at others. A stunning story about learning to love again and learning when to let go to those you love.” —Night Owl Reviews, Reviewer Top Pick

One of the most beautiful stories I ever read… she takes you through the gamut of emotions… sadness to elation… despair to hope… simply beautiful… Thanks Marie…
Another story of weak, spineless men. Clare is wonderful and deserves happiness. I just wish the author would’ve done more to illustrate how Jack and his mistress’s selfish lifestyle crushed a truly selfless woman and broke up a 20 year marriage.
I I couldn’t stop reading.Highly recommended.
Starting Again
Two of the Harrington women need to find themselves. Kate is on her way to Nashville to start her music career but has a little hiccup. Claire needs to find her happiness after the divorce. She goes to oversee the makeover of her brother’s house in Vermont and meets Aiden. He’s the contractor doing the work.
at first quite moving, sex, some language
Wow! Just wow!! I absolutely lived this book!!
As the Treading Water series continues, Clare awakens from a coma to find her life totally ruined. Her husband is ready to marry a girlfriend and her three young daughters have grown up. Distraught over the mess, she escapes to Vermont to find solitude and peace. What she gets is much more. Aiden has the temperament of a water buffalo and the heart of a lost soul. As the two of them spend more time together, they find the love each has given up on. As I mentioned in my review of “Treading Water” the books really should be read in sequence to get a accurate feel for the characters. Marie Force has shown to be quite a storyteller who has the rare ability to keep the story believable and yet surprisingly entertaining. The series is for those readers who like their romance with a good sense of family belonging.
It was an ok read. I just couldn’t get into a relationship with the younger character.
I can always depend on Marie Force for an entertaining story.
This was a GREAT story. Without hesitation one to the next book and more from Marie Force. She has a wonderful writing talent.
This is book 2 in “The Treading Water” series by author Marie Force. I enjoyed the storyline and look forward to moving on to book 3 “Starting Over” . This is light, entertaining summer reading!
This was quite the read. Given the fact that I was really upset with her husband who during the time his wife was in a coma had an affair which when she came out of the coma prompted her to give him a divorce so he could marry his pregnant girlfriend. His and the girlfriend’s moral compass left alot to be desired as did the 46 year old man having an affair with the 18 year old. Well, in all honesty, Ms. Force you certainly weaved a tangled story which kept me reading!
Loved this series!
United family
Very touching story. I didn’t want to put this book down. There were life struggles for the main characters but they had their happily ever after in the end.
Marie Force at her best!
GreT series, loved the characters
What a trooper. Get husband left her while she was in a coma. She worked hard to rebuild a relationship with her daughters. Great story.
Would have been wonderful if it hadn’t been for Kate’s romance. That pairing ruined the book for me.
i really liked this book… easy to read, great characters (wasn’t happy with the husband). definitely a book i would re-read
