You might think an angel would make for a meek, soft-spoken protagonist, but Mary Wiles has a devilish streak and she can battle with the best of them. Thoroughly enjoyed this story.
I have a special love for angels, I even collect them, so seeing a story about a fallen angel how could i pass it up. Mary is a fallen angel who pretends to be a human Private Investigator. Things are happening spiritually and that means trouble from demons. When she is called in to help she may be in a little deeper than she knows. Armed with a sarcastic come back and angelic powers Mary may find out it isn’t enough.
Great read as this author always provides a story that is fun yet intriguing with plenty of action. Great light enjoyable I can’t wait for more.
Good read! I enjoyed it so much I moved on to the second in the series. Good fun quick read!
An amazing supernatural story. Angels and demons are on earth with unsuspecting humans. Mary has to keep the demons from hurting people. Such a wonderful new series.

Action packed, emotionally thrilling, edge of your seat adventure filled with magical, dangerous and engaging charters, witty dialog, heart racing twists and exciting turns. A great read from beginning to end.
Mary Wiles is an angel whose wings were removed by demons and she was left on Earth with no way to get back to heaven. She makes a living as a private investigator, tracking down cheating spouses and helping the police department with the spooky stuff on the side.
Mary was called to a crime scene where a dead woman was tied to a bed and torn apart with a smile on her face.Mary knows a ritual was being performed but not by who, other than demons, or why.
The writer drops you in the middle of Mary’s life and fills in details as you need them, much like film noir does. The action takes place in Los Angeles in a world that has an increasing number of demons and angels appearing and starting to interfere with human, who have no idea they are surrounded by supernatural beings.
The author sets up the world so that the reader often learns what’s going on when the protagonist does. This is written much like the film noir/hard-boiled detective novels but with a supernatural twist. Can’t wait for the next one.

Off to a great start.
As the first in the Mary Wiles series, this story throws you right into the action. Mary just an angel who’s lost her wings, trying to make her way in this modern world, exorcising demons one baddies at a time. I loved how her naïveté and simple lack of comprehension of situations leads to some funny dialogue. Mary is one kick-butt angel, and I can’t wait to read her next adventure!
Marked by Hell is book 1 in the Mary Wiles Chronicles. This was a good book and a great start to the series. A quick read staring angels and demons.

Marked By Hell is book one and a great start to The Mary Wiles series. Mary is an angel who lost her wings and is playing human until she can find her way back to Heaven, find her friend and get revenge against the demons who took her wings. This is an entertaining read packed with humor, mystery, danger, suspense, intrigue, twists, romance and interesting characters. I look forward to reading the rest of this series.
Mary is a fallen angel who has become a PI/demon exorcist/occult specialist to the police. A lot to take on for one warrior angel but with friends at her back and a talisman that was made from one of her feathers she can get the job done. Little by little she will figure out what that she is more human than she thought when a string of murders has her investigating a ritual by demons. A great book from an author that I have come to adore.
This was a fun read with supernaturals galore in the city of angels. But there are demons too and Mary trying to gain her wings back while fighting them and finding her friend makes for some funny scenes. It’s exciting and it sucked me in because I could picture everything in my head.
Great start to a new series. The author does a great job developing both her characters and scenes in vivid detail. Overlooking the editing, I enjoyed reading and am looking forward to more in this series.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
Mary is an angel that left heaven to find her mentor but was caught and dewinged by demons and sent to hell. She somehow escaped hell. Mary is now a private eye and demon exorcist. She needs to find the demons that are sacrificing women. Does she find them? Will she be able to stop them? Who is in danger and does Mary win?

The nice thing about the books by Bedford is that they are light, easy and usually not that long. It are the perfect books to read on busy days or with a busy head or when I’m not feeling too well or just when I like a quick and easy and entertaining read. So, when Booksprout told me that she had added 4 more books to review I didn’t hesitate for a moment. I mean, normally I wouldn’t get so many review copies by the same author at once, but what could go wrong?
Luckily this book is indeed exactly what I had expected it to be. Although some heavy themes are discussed in this book and people with sexual harassment and rape triggers should totally be careful while reading this book, it was a quick and easy read for me. This is partly because of Bedford’s writing style, that’s never too flowery and comes to the point and on top of that really fits the character who’s point of view we’re reading. But it’s also because she never lets the story drag. She writes what needs to be written and nothing more.
The result is therefore a quite fast paced story with little to no info dumping and a lot of action. What I love about this book was the mythology of angels, demons and heaven and hell. I’m quite curious to learn more about those two parts of this world, but I’m also quite curious to see how Mary will deal with the rest of her life on earth. Although loads of details concerning the mythology are missing I never felt like I missed information needed to understand the story or what’s going on.
It also helps that Mary is quite a cute and entertaining character. As an angel she has some issues adapting to living as a human. The way she views our world and discovers new things makes it easy to like her and to root for her. It also made me grin quite a few times. Add a little touch of innocence to the mix and a lot of bad ass skills and slightly supernatural power and you get the perfect leading lady for this saga. I’m glad I got the other three books too and I can’t wait to read them to find out what issues, problems and challenges are waiting for Mary!
This is the first book by this author that I’ve had the pleasure of listening to. I quite enjoyed it. The story moves along rather quickly or at least it seemed that way to me because before I knew it, it was over. It has a good plot and the characters are easy to like.
Mary is a fallen angel come to earth searching for someone she cares deeply about. It’s many years since her fall and yet the memories still plague her mind and torment her.
Her company takes on a new case that proves to be quite challenging. The case takes many turns and there are lots of surprises around every corner. Could this case be the lead Mary’s been looking for? Is it too much to hope that she might actually be able to finally find her long lost friend, Ramiel?
The story ends with a bit of a cliffhanger but this is just the beginning of Mary’s adventure. I can’t wait to dive into the next part of her journey and find out what happens.
I absolutely love this series! From beginning to end, I couldn’t put it down. I’ve read them all, and highly recommend grabbing the entire series. Erin’s wit and fantastic characters will have you craving the next book!
5 stars!
I received an arc copy for an honest review.
This is the 1st book in ” The Mary Wiles Chronicles Series. Mary is an angel who lost her wings when she was abducted by demons while she was searching for her commander Ramiel. She is currently a PI who uses her abilities to stop the lower demons from summoning the demon Lord Asmodeous. Will she succeed in all she sets out to do? Read to find out. You wont be disappointed.
Very easy read. I enjoyed the straight line story. I see a lot of possibilities for book in the series. I have already bought book 2 and will start reading it tonight. Not many twists just a good short to the point story.
Mary is an angel living in the human world as a human. Her wings have been sawed off and all she wants is to get them back and go home. Mary runs a P.I. business dealing mostly with the supernatural. When she is called in by the L.A.P.D. to help with a case things begin to change drastically. I thought this was a good start to a new series and look forward to reading more.
This is a fun start to what I think is going to be a great series. I loved the characters, I thought the plot was interesting and original, and it kept me entertained from beginning to end. There were a few grammar issues, but I expect those to be cleared up quickly, and they didn’t throw me out of the story. I’m looking forward to the rest of the series.
