I can’t trust her. She can’t trust me. But we’re in this together now.I thought the hardest part was to get my hands on her—but I was wrong. Riley is too smart for her own good and she doesn’t adapt well to the victim role. But what kind of game is she playing? Why can’t I get her out of my head? She’s mine now, but not forever. I have to get her ready and make sure she understands what’s at … and make sure she understands what’s at stake.
Then, I will have to let her go.
And this is where it gets truly complicated…

Phenomenal ending to this duet.
Caine and Riley…
Just when you think you know what’s going on in Caine’s scheme, he does something that you won’t see coming.
You will definitely love this incredible ending.
Oh what a twist this was. It had me engaged from the beginning to the end. It is packed full of drama and betrayal. Ir is beautifully written and the characters were stunning. They were captivating and had personalities that are felt throughout the story. Riley and Cain have such a strong chemistry and they pull you deeper into the story. This series is a must read!!!!!!
This is the end of Riley and Cain’s story. Cain needs Riley’s computer genius to get revenge on the people who killed his family. He has an agreement with another family to help get the revenge he wants, but at a cost, Riley. As he trains Riley, he starts to have feelings for her. He has already lied to her and she knows it. She does not trust Cain to just let her go or protect her. She is making her own plans to escape. The chemistry between them is so explosive and there is a connection they have to each other. Will Cain change his mind and let her go, or will Riley escape? You need to read Tied before reading this. It is a very good duet that you should dive right into.
I enjoyed the conclusion of Riley & Cain’s story and certainly didn’t see what happened coming. I liked the tie in to another book and how everything was wrapped up in a nice albeit dark and twisted bow. Very enjoyable, well written book.
The conclusion of Cain and Riley’s explosive dark romance was so worth the wait. I loved the delicious twisted way Cain showed Riley his character. This was yummy that once you start you won’t be able to stop until the end. If you are a fan of dark romance that will intrigue from the beginning than this is a one click for you.
Marked is the second book in the A Dark Possession duet by Linnea May which continues the story of Cain and Riley. This book picks up at the cliffhanger of Tied which is the first book of this duet. Riley remains kidnapped by Cain as he prepares her for the role she will play in his revenge for his parents deaths. As their relationship becomes closer. When their plans go awry will Cain be able to release Riley and can she forgive him for what he has done? I highly recommend this phenomenal edge of your seat book with its complex and flawed characters and intense plot with its many unexpected twists, suspense, danger, and sizzling chemistry.
I received an arc in return for an honest and voluntary review.
Best If Read Right After Tied – Dark And Twisted, Marked Will Leave You On The Edge Of Your Seat!
This is the conclusion of Cain and Riley’s story. Riley is the smart little sister that Alena from The Puppetmaster helped raise after they became orphans. The story began in Tied; it picks up seamlessly where Tied ended with a cliffhanger. It is best to read the books back to back. Marked clears up the mystery and answers outstanding questions.
In Tied, Riley Prey is starting over. After losing her job as a software developer six months ago, she moved across the country to be near her newly married sister – her hero and only remaining family. But finding a new job has proven to be a challenge, so when she comes across a listing that sounds almost too good to be true, she pounces on the opportunity. The pay is good and it sounds exciting, but the interview process is unique. She is to prove her skills through a series of tests. The first test has her hacking into the wi-fi at a cafe. Child’s play. But she has no idea that she has fallen into a trap.
Cain has not forgiven Riley for disappearing on him six months ago. He had forgotten just how alluring she is, though. He needs to touch her. He loses focus and becomes lost in her. Any man would be vulnerable to her charm. Cute and nerdy, brilliant yet gullible, she is perfect for the job. He just hadn’t anticipated the jealousy. This is a problem since he kidnapped her to help take down the Covey, a highly secretive crime syndicate in New England. The Covey is responsible for the death of Cain’s parents and it has been his life’s goal to take them down. Riley’s beauty combined with her geekiness make her the ultimate Venus fly trap for the man hired by the Covey to safeguard all their secrets. Cain can’t allow himself to get distracted when he is so close to achieving his goal.
In Marked, Riley has overheard Cain on a call that leaves her terrified. She discovers he has lied to her. She had strategically put herself on more level ground by agreeing to her part in taking down the Covey in exchange for her freedom afterward and the salary promised for the job she thought she was interviewing for. She even felt some sympathy for Cain’s story. But she now overhears Cain himself promising to hand Riley over following the job, to do with as the caller pleases, and she realizes her only choice is to escape.
Cain can’t make out what to think of his possessiveness and jealousy over Riley. He knows she is smart and manipulative, and as drawn to her as he is, he can’t trust her, and can’t trust himself with her. As the job approaches, he has to manage the demands of the Scavoli family, an unreliable mafia family who hate the Covey and have agreed to help, while preparing Riley for her role.
The suspense grabs you from the start and keeps you hooked until the end. Cain and Riley share an unusual chemistry. Even in the face of betrayal, it cannot be denied. His cold, domineering way calls to her desire to submit without question, even when faced with risk and betrayal. They play a high stakes game, but who will come out on top becomes the big question. In the end, the couple earns their HEA.
Alena and Raad from The Puppetmaster appear in the story, as do Nate and Malia from the Onyx series. Although it is nice to have read those books previously, it is not necessary.
Nothing can be taken for granted as Cain and Riley’s complicated relationship plays out amidst lies and betrayal in this dark story. This is a quick read. It is nicely written. The POV alternates between Riley and Cain, with a cameo chapter in Alena’s POV. The story is plot-driven, very complex and intriguing. The characters are well-defined, mostly in Tied, though the focus is primarily on plot. I rate this book four stars.
I received a free advance copy of book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I was ecstatic to get my hands on the conclusion to the wicked cliffhanger in ” Tied, ” Linnea May has a way of weaving a dark web of possessive emotional warfare with a hurts so good vibe you cannot help but let it consume you!
So this conclusion was not one I saw coming! While the darker side was prevalent, and all those questions that had been dangling out there in book landia answered.
The heat, tension, and suspension are lingering in the background of this one as Cain and Riley try to make sense of the battle going on in their heads vs. the job they’ve got to do.
The author switches things up a bit with a fast-paced race to all things love!
While it was not how I anticipated, the twists and turns intrigued and made for another great read from Ms. May!
This is the conclusion to Tied and picks up where the cliff hanger ended. There’s plenty of drama, suspense, undeniable passion and not to mention regret on Cains behalf, trust has to be earned on both sides, can this be achieved!!! Riley Eves dropping on part conversations was only going to lead to misunderstandings or not !! Will Cains explanation be suffice and what about kidnapping Riley was that really his better judgment??? As always the story flows seamlessly and certainly not one to be missed. I was given this as an ARC by the author in exchange for a voluntary honest review which I am happy to leave.
I love when a series comes to an end and it’s one that you fall in love with the characters and really want them to have a great ending that leaves them both happy and together. I really love these books because the writing was amazing and the author does such a wonderful job of telling a story that’s complicated and different but also contains a lot of emotion and feeling. I really recommend this book to anyone who likes a little bit of a darker side of romance but that still comes out with an HEA!
I received a copy of this book for a voluntary review. 🙂
Marked is book 2 of Tied and a wonderful conclusion to the storyline around Cain and Riley.
There’s is uncertainty about the path that will unfold as there journey continues to spiral out of control. Cain had made a deal with a mafia family to take out another mafia boss. What he finds is that he can’t stand the thought of Riley having to being blackmailed onto seducing Charles. What happens next is unexpected. I enjoyed the Tied and Marked duet, and recommend reading.
The car & mouse game being played in the basement was the true story. This was mostly psychological, as Cain & Riley slowly determine their true roles. I loved the back and forth, both trying to figure out truths. Loved the obsessive behavior of Cain and how he decided to end the madness on his terms. I have to admit that it wasn’t my favorite ending. I wish it was “drawn out” in real time more, instead of stopping abruptly and the info put in the epilogue after it happened. I wish the epilogue was shorter, and solely concentrated on the family dynamic. I did love the way the epilogue ended though. However, with that said, I do appreciate the fact that the author kept most of The story purely psychological. It’s hard to do a really great suspenseful story without lots of action and May has succeeded in spades with this one.
Cain and Riley are explovise together she is such a strong smart willed woman and Cain was very controlling and bossy a little unpredictable but she handled it so well. There’s so much danger and deception with secrets as Cains revenge moves forward and the only decision he has is can he go through with it.
I loved the conclusion of this duet and seeing familiar characters was a huge bonus this was on the edge of your seat story it could go either way and the ending perfection.
I received a copy of this book from the author/publisher to review.
I thought the hardest part was to get my hands on her-but I was wrong. Riley is too smart for her own good and she doesn’t adapt well to the victim role. But what kind of game is she playing? Why can’t I get her out of my head? She’s mine now, but not forever. I have to get her ready to make sure she understands what’s at stake. Then, I will have to let her go. And this is where it gets truly complicated.
Marked is the second book in the Dark Possession Duet from Linnea May. You have to read Tied first or you are going to be lost. This book picks up right where Tied lead off and Cain is still getting Riley ready for the mission that he has basically kidnapped her and forced her to do. However he thinks that she is up to something and he just can not figure out why in the world he can not get her out of his head. However things must go on as planned but there are some serious wrenches or betrayal being thrown into the mix. This is where you get the answers to all the questions you had in Tied and I think this is an absolutely amazing conclusion to this duet. I loved it so much and how it kept me on my toes and surprised me in many ways.
Amazing Conclusion!
This was an amazing conclusion to Riley and Cain’s story. The story was full of action, loads of suspense and intrigue, and lots of twists and turns throughout to keep you fully captivated and highly entertained. Riley and Cain have so much chemistry. You can’t help falling in love with them and wanting them to be together. Their interactions are full of passion and a whole lot of emotion. In this conclusion we finally get the answers we need!
Fantastic writing with amazing characters. I can’t wait to see where this phenomenal author takes us next.
This is book two in the duet. Linnea starts off this book right where the first book left off. Cain still has plan and Riley is needed for that. They navigate through the plan despite their feelings for each other. The wants and needs of each begin to change. There is a lot of action. The story is easy to read and exciting!
Well written, a fitting conclusion. Must read Tied first to understand Marked. I love that Cain changed his mind about avenging his parents using Riley as bait. Suspenseful, steamy. Novella length.
As an avid reader I am very particular on who I will read books with sequels with. Ms. May is one that I always want to read. Her books make complete sense in why they can’t be told in one sitting. With that being said you need to read Tied first to get the story of Riley and Cain from the get go.
We are introduced briefly to Riley in The Puppet Master.
These books build a relationship with these characters that have so many layers. They are dark and twisted and flawed. Cain has a plan for Riley but an event occurs that changes it all.
These books are dark and decadent adventures. I am volunteering to leave a review for this book.
A action packed, gut wrenching story with a happy ending. That I absolutely LOVED.
Tied is a satisfying completion to the Dark Procession Duet. The book starts where Tied ended, with the phone call. Riley is no longer the trusting girl blindly willing to help Cain. I liked that she finally got a backbone. But as the twists and turns of this story unfold, Cain finds himself having conflicted feelings for his behavior and how he really feels for Riley. The Betrayal, his deception, and a lot of steam, this book is a great ending to Cain and Riley’s story.
I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
