I enjoyed this book, it was very well organized. Fantasy was brought into reality in this story. I would recommend this for anyone who especially loves mythology. I was not too aware as to what a Muse what so I did have to do a little research into greek mythology. The story left you wanting to continue reading the next book for more.
Loved it! I have always loved mythological stories but with this book the author’s have put their spin on it all. The character’s were interesting and the storyline was unique. I’m looking forward to reading “Power of the Song”.
Interesting and unique story concept that is a page-turner. The characters are relatable and the plotline is fresh.
I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. I very much enjoyed this book. The beginning sucks you in right away and you quickly get invested in this fast paced, action packed story. The main character, Piper is intelligent, strong and a great main character. I love reading novels with strong female leads. My only criticism is that I wish we had more answers before the cliffhanger ending. I did like how the authors ended the book but I still would’ve liked more before having to wait/buy the next book.
What an amazing read!

Gods, demi-gods, creatures. What is going on at Muse Island, and where does Piper fit in? Piper and her younger sister were adopted when they were very young. Now her sister has cancer and needs a bone marrow transplant. She needs to track down their birth parents. But where to start? Then her criminally insane patient at the hospital where she works as a psychologist somehow leaves a message at her home, even though he is locked up. It is a copy of her birth certificate from a place called Muse Island. But from the time she steps foot on the island everything is crazy. Her room is ransacked, she sees blurred faces for the islanders, and everyone keeps talking about the Gods. The only one she seems to be able to trust is Finn the owner of the resort. But then people are hurt, a woman is murdered, and it all seems to relate to her. And she starts seeing everyone on the island as creatures. What is wrong with her, and why is she so important? ‘Mark of the Gods’ is book 1 of Kris Faryn and Jules Lynn’s ‘Muse Island’ series. It opens with Dr. Piper Prince, a clinical psychologist for the North Texas State Hospital for the criminally insane, about to leave her job to help her sister who is ill. She has one last psycho serial killer to interview and have him stand trial. This sets the stage and we see Piper armed with her birth certificate on her way to Muse Isl. Hoping to find her parents Piper believes they will be able to help her ill sister. From this point on we are taken on a whirlwind of a mystery chase around the island trying to piece together a puzzle about, who she is, her parents and where they may be, what the island is really about and why is her life threatened. I love the unusual, the hidden, and Magic which begins to show up later on in book one, I was not disappointed. Authors Kris and Jules, take a creepy thriller and give it some great twists and turns and slowly unfolds the magical beings in Piper’s mist. Who these beings are and what is their intent slowly comes to light for some and others are still unknown. By the end of ‘Mark of the Gods’ I was so hooked that I was ready to dive into book two.
Received as an review copy, this is a honest review. It has a good mystery at the center of the story but the characters that are driving it are not worth the read. Flat and annoying don’t really make want to stick around for the end.
