Valxiron rises. All else will fall.
The Darkness of Altarea is come anew. Saradon has taken Pelenor for his own, but underneath his skin, Valxiron lurks, ready to seize control.
Pelenor’s forces are fractured and weak against the growing power of the Order of Valxiron, finally united underneath his leadership. Trapped within his ranks is Dimitri; to his despair, his father cedes the South to the … despair, his father cedes the South to the dark king, paving the way for his forces to become unstoppable.
All that stands between doom and redemption is Erendriel’s cryptic prophecy, which only leads to more questions. Increasingly frustrated, Harper and her companions split to try and find a Dragonheart, an army, and the courage to save Pelenor before the final battle that will see it doomed without their desperate actions.
Dimitri, Harper, Aedon and their companions risk everything to give Pelenor what slim chance they can – but some of them will not live to see whether the next age brings light or darkness.
Who will give the ultimate sacrifice to save those they love and the land of Pelenor… and will they succeed?

Mark of Fate
I loved this so much and my new favorite in this series. The main characters are beautifully flawed, each in their own way. Realistically depicted in their heroics, fear, pain and shortfalls our talented author has woven them into this fantasy world blurring lines of our reality and pulling us into Pelenor.
Harper and Dimitri are especially dynamic characters out of them all they are my favorites seconded by Erika and Brand in which we are treated to more of their history that has sculpted their characters.
However fate can be cruel to such beloved characters as there are many twists, oaths that can’t be broken and damning visions that threaten Pelenor.
The Dark one has finally broken through his mortal shell. Valxiron wants to extinguish life and light with his darkness. Cruelty and Malice are but appetizers to his dark desires.
The Tainted Star will try to sway the hearts of men, the Shadow is to be heeded, and blood bonds near nigh unbreakable. Amongst prophecy there is but a ray of Light, of hope for them all. Light casts shadow, and breaks through darkness but only if it’s purpose holds true.
I highly recommend reading this entire series to see from start to finish how this unfolds. Major love to all the hard work and time spent to Meg Cowley!

A tumultuous whirlwind full of formidable trials and challenging tribulations, along with a slew of nerve racking twists and shocking turns, tests our characters in ways they could have never envisioned. Dynamics and countenance in layer upon layer that you peel back with each page your drawn into this web so deep until everything else ceases to exist. The characters are complex and authentic with depth and traits that blend and flow smoothly transforming into genuinely relatable personalities. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and descriptions creating a colorful backdrop that makes the storyline pop. Remarkable job Meg, thanks for sharing this little treasure with us.
Meg Cowley has given this series a worthy ending. Mark of Fate proved that I had not wasted the time I spent reading this series. I feel like I will very likely read the series again some day when it is less fresh in my mind so that I can once again fully immerse myself into the 4 books that when combined tell the complete story. Every book has an ending for that portion of the over all tale. You could stop reading the series any time but why do so when it is so much more satisfying to have the complete story.
I was sad to read the end of the book only because I had become quite attached to the main characters throughout the series. I found the ending to be satisfying.
I do plan on reading more of Meg Cowley’s books which I have not yet experienced other than this series.
Disclosure: I received an ARC for this book. This in no way influenced how much I enjoyed the book. I am willingly leaving this review.
Chronicles of Pelenor has been a series full of magic and a struggle of good against evil with the dark one himself attempting to take over Pelenor and in this 4th book we see the riveting ending to this series. Our group of friends are doing their best to prepare for the war which they knew would soon be upon them. Harper has been having visions of what was to come and Dimitrius has also told her of his fears about Saradon and his greed for power. Saradon was turning into the dark one known as Valxiron more and more and his evil was so overpowering. Aedon, Harper, Erika and Brand go to the Winged Kingsguard castle in order to warn the dragon riders of the war planned to take down the south of Pelenor. They were not believed at first and almost taken as prisoners but Harper’s visions proved correct. The group of friends go their separate ways to get a dragonheart, and to bring more allies to their side and when the final battle ensues the dragons and their riders, fight among elves, dwarfs and the trees of the forest itself. It is obvious that Valxiron wants Harper and would do anything to get her as she is blood of his blood but Harper is led by Erendriel herself, and the Goddess gives Harper the tools to rid the world of the dark one’s evil but at what cost? Can Harper really be asked so much of, to defend a country which was not even her own but which had become like home to her now? She would do what was necessary to save her friends and her loved one. This final book gave us the ending we deserved, exciting, with battle scenes which are fought with sword and sorcery, courage and loyalty, as well as greed and cowardice and the darkest of evil. It is a story of loss but also one of redemption, a chance for atonement and hope as in the end love wins out as it generally always does. In life there is always love and hate, as well as light and dark but it is the choices one makes which matter in the end.
Mark of Fate is the fast-paced final piece in Meg Cowley’s “Chronicles of Pelenor” saga. The final confrontation between good and evil and between Harper and Valxiron. Harper is ultimately victorious but not without consequences. She loses some friends in the final battle and Dimitri also pays a high price for victory. A fast-moving Tolkenesque saga. Highly recommended for al fantasy fiction lovers. Give Cowley’s Pelenor saga a go – you won’t be disappointed!
This is the final book in this series and it did not disappoint. There was everything you would want in an epic fantasy, magic, dragons, elves, orcs, dwarves, battles and courage. The characers grew and became real during this journey and I felt their presence long after the last word was read. If you like amazing battle scenes and a story with twists and turns, this will satisfy your needs.
