While Maple Sugar Crush is the second book in the Autumnboro series, it can be read and enjoyed as a standalone novel! Powerball winner Josie Morgan has learned the hard way that dating, in her financial situation, will only lead to heartbreak. She’s been perfectly happy living the single life and running the Pumpkin Everything country store. Too bad her mother can’t seem to take the hint. … take the hint. Unwilling to face another lineup of suitors and gold-diggers at this year’s Thanksgiving dinner, Josie opts to stay behind in Autumnboro to host a free meal for anybody without a place to go.
When Josie’s family turns up in Autumnboro, faking a relationship with funeral planner Riley Parker seems like the only way to make it through the holiday. Like every other man on Earth, Riley’s only interested in her money. So what if she has a teeny, tiny crush? If he agrees to help her out, she’ll gladly write him a check.
But as Thanksgiving draws closer, turkey and stuffing aren’t the only things heating up, and maybe money isn’t the only thing on Riley’s mind. Josie’s already hit the lottery once, dare she hope for anything more?
Set against the scenic backdrop of the White Mountains, New Hampshire, Maple Sugar Crush is a small town, sweet romance, and the perfect way to ease into the Thanksgiving season!

Welcome to Autumnboro, the town where is always Autumn. You will find friends, love and really good people. Josie is been hiding in town after she won the lottery and she is afraid to travel, to meet men, she doesn’t want to get hurt again. But when her family shows in Autumnboro for Thanksgiving she knows she needs help to avoid her mother attempts to matchmaker her. Riley is her friend, will he help her for money, like everybody else, or will they really connect? Sweet and tearjerker love story.
I truly enjoyed the first book in this wonderful series of standalone stories and couldn’t wait to find out how Powerball winner Josie gets her HEA. I absolutely loved Maple Sugar Crush. Beth Labonte has a wonderful voice and knows how to tell a story in a funny, engaging, and yet emotional way. The characters are developed really well, and I could just picture the town of Autumnboro come to life in my imagination. Too bad it isn’t a real town, because I’d love to visit it! I read this book in one sitting and recommend it to anyone looking for their next 5-star read.
Maple Sugar Crush is book two in An Autumnboro Sweet Romance series by Beth Labonte. Both of the books in this series are sweet, clean holiday romances that take place in the beautiful little town of Autumnboro.
In book one, we met Josie Morgan. She is about thirty years old. A few years ago, she won the power ball for over four hundred million dollars! Now she is plagued with being constantly pursued for her money. It’s not something she would wish on anyone. She tries her hardest to stay hidden in Autumnboro and do as much good for her community as she can.
Josie has had her heart broken as a result of the money, so has vowed never to allow herself to be in that position again. Love just isn’t going to ever be in her future. But she still can’t help the crush she has developed for her friend’s brother, Riley.
This Thanksgiving instead of traveling to her parent’s home and having to suffer not only her relatives but her mom’s matchmaking attempts, Josie decides to stay home and host a Thanksgiving dinner for anyone who doesn’t have someone to spend the holiday with. Only of course, you know things aren’t going to go as planned.
This is a very sweet story of learning to trust again, of getting over your fears and opening your heart. Josie might be the one hosting the community Thanksgiving dinner but she and her family might be the ones receiving the biggest gift of all.
It was nice to visit Autumnboro again and reconnect with some memorable characters. Maple Sugar Crush is an enjoyable fall romance, full of heart and connection.
This sweet and cozy follow-up to Pumpkin Everything did not disappoint! Back in Autumnboro, one of my favourite fictional towns, we fall into Josie and Riley’s cute love story. Filled with quirky characters, Thanksgiving fun, and Pokemon Go (I loved this aspect!), this is a seasonal read that will give you all the good feelings. I highly recommend both books and hope the author is planning more for this town and series!
It was a cute story!
Enjoyable story with likable characters. Reading both books in the series made me want to visit Autumnboro!
Simple easy to read romance. No big surprises. But a nice little story.
Enjoyed this book so much that I now am looking for a Maple Sugar cold drink! Will keep you turning pages.
I loved this book! Very cute and sweet story. I adored the characters and want more of them! Reading this story was like watching my favorite tv show. I just wanted more scenes of these two! I read 75% of the book in one sitting because I needed to know what happened. I’m really loving this author’s books!
A little emotional. Really gets you in the feels. I felt Rylie was a bit immature but it still turned out to be a cute story.
I liked this story so much that I looked up all of Beth Labonte’s novels. Her characters are realistic and still sexy.
A sweet book to read on a smokey or rainy day. It will lift your mood.
Excellent character building. Fun, different concept.
A cute, easy read in a small Northern town. I enjoyed the characters and the story.
It’s like reading a Christmas rom-com. Definitely a fun read during the holiday season!
Maple Sugar Crush is a cute book, perfect to read around Thanksgiving.
Josie is a mega-millionaire thanks to winning the Powerball. While this of course means she never has to worry about money again, it also brings with it some unique problems. Josie’s mother keeps trying to set her up with a man, all of whom she knows only want her for her money. She’s also developed some fears that she keeps to herself but that sadly limit her life experiences.
Josie enjoys spending her money on other people and so she decides to host a Thanksgiving dinner for anyone who finds themself alone for the holiday. She could have joined her family for Thanksgiving but she wanted to avoid them asking for money or shoving eligible bachelors in her face. When her family decides to join her in Autumnboro to help with her dinner, she needs her friend Riley to act as her fake boyfriend to keep her mother from bugging her about her love life.
Riley and Josie share a love for a frozen coffee drink called Maple Sugar Crush. Josie developed a summer crush on Riley and use to stop by to deliver their favorite drink to him, but she’s realized that crush isn’t going anywhere. That is until he agrees to be her fake boyfriend and of course, the fake and real feelings are hard to distinguish. This is a really sweet romance set in small town New Hampshire.
Note: While Maple Sugar Crush is the second book in the Autumnboro series, it can be read and enjoyed as a standalone novel.
I had already read Kit and Amy’s story, so I knew some of the relationships and locale. I knew that Josie owned Pumpkin Everything. I did not know she had such major issues with her powerball winnings. This is her story. This is how she learns to love her family again and find that she can be loved regardless of her powerball winnings. It is a de3lightful story with some interesting twists and turns.
If you don’t like detailed sex scenes with odd physical positions you will like this nice clean love story.
It really didn’t hold my attention until Josie and Riley went on their trip, reading the places they went sounded amazing! The story itself is funny, sweet, a quick read, in a small town, the charm of my favorite season Autumn was a plus! I really got angry with Josie’s mom, Uncle, & Aunt always wanting more from her. I’ve never had to worry about anyone wanting me for my money, but it really rubbed me the wrong way.
You really need to read Pumpkin Everything before reading this one, it will answer the 5 W’s easier with who, what, where, when, and why. My favorite character would have to be Josie’s dad, he is a great, caring, thoughtful man, and my second fav would have to be Pixie!
The author takes us back to Autumnboro, New Hampshire for another small town romcom. Each book gets sweeter and sweeter. I’d love to see her continue the series in Winterboro, Springboro and Summerboro.
