Mantrum: An emotional outburst or an expression of anger by an adult man.I’ve never understood the attraction women have for an alpha male, until I meet single father, Rex Winters.Tall, chiseled, and persistent, he tries to avoid a parking ticket by asking me out to dinner. But I know men like him. He’s a repeat offender–habitually getting into trouble and always ready to sweet talk his way out … sweet talk his way out of it.
But his charm won’t work on me.
Not when he’s the reason I’m forced to attend a six-week anger management class. And especially not when I find out all six feet two inches of Rex and his two hundred pounds of sexy muscle will be joining me every single time.
It doesn’t matter how much he flirts, or how attracted to him I am. I’m the girl who enforces rules for a living and he’s the guy who breaks them.
Do opposites really attract?
I guess we’re about to find out.
This is a romantic comedy standalone

Mantrum is an easy read, filled with laughter, some very unique dates, a hot single dad, some angst and a little steam. The characters are relatable and realistic and the storyline was unique. If you’ve read Jacob Chance’s other books you’ll note the connections to them.
Danika is writing up a ticket when the car owner returns and starts pleading for her to stop and rethink it. She’s not easily persuaded by the easy on the eyes owner, who is full of excuses and dinner invites. When an onlooker makes a smart remark, Rex retaliates, which creates a crowd. Danika is trying to clear the crowd when one of her fellow officers arrives and arrests Rex. Her outburst results in having to attend an anger management class.
Rex is released on bail by his younger brother after his melee in the street. He couldn’t let those snide remarks go, she may of been hitting him with a fine but she was mighty fine. Adam tells him he can’t keep behaving like a teenager it’s time to grow up and he needs to return to anger management because he has a lot to learn still.
This was a fast and uncomplicated read. Rex gets in a little too much trouble for a guy in his late 30’s with a teenage daughter. Danika is the right kind of woman to make him truly settle down.
Rex has a problem controlling his anger and all he sees is red. After an altercation lands him in jail and is forced to attend anger management classes, he finally sees a bright light when he sees Danika there as well. Danika was just doing her job giving the man a parking ticket when he’s goes crazy over someone filming them. When she has to attend the class as well she is not at all happy to see Rex. But he’s persistent and wants to get to know her better. Slowly he gets through her and finds that she helps calm the rage in him. Throw in a teenage daughter growing up and interested in boys, Danika seems to be the perfect addition to their family.
Another great book from this author! Laugh out loud moments from a man with a temper who also shows his soft and sweet side with Danika. Looking forward to reading the rest of the brother’s books!
Mantrum had me saying “just one more chapter” more than once, and all too soon the story ended.
From the start Rex and Danika would have you smiling and just wondering what it’s next.
Danika is a rule follower and Rex is a rule breaker. When a situation lands them in the same place (Danika being forced to go while Rex volunteers) Danika tries to avoid him.
But the universe has other plans and she’s forced to spend time with him.
Can opposites really attract? Danika doesn’t seems to think so.
Can Rex get her to give him a chance? Oh believe me, he’s doing everything to get that chance
Just did a re-read of this since Manfax is coming out and I love this book. Rex will make you swoon. He’s handsome, funny and plans amazing original dates. Danika is sweet and cute. This book will have you laughing and crushing hard on Rex. Can’t wait for Manfax.
I really enjoyed reading Mantrum. This was the first romance novel i have read that was written by a man instead of a woman. Jacob knows how to pull at your heart strings just as well as the women writers. The story between Rex and Danika is both sweet and comical. I enjoyed watching the relationship develop between the two of them. I will be reading more by Jacob Chance.
Mantrum was a fun romantic comedy read! Loved the banta and the heat Rex and Danika had going on! I enjoyed the other characters! Looking forward to reading Manfax!
A smart-mouth romcom that leaves you remembering the best lines, long after the story has ended. For me, the best thing about the developing relationship between Rex and Danika is their age. It is extremely few and far between that you find a romance with or without humor that has BOTH leads over the age of 32. As I’m in my mid 30s myself, I find myself struggling when reading about younger generations. I just don’t really anymore. This was fantastic, because it dealt with the reality of being a mid to late 30s adult and trying to start over again.
Another entertaining read by Jacob Chance! This book had me cracking up with the crazy things Rex and his brothers do. The mantrums Rex throw, the love that his family has for one another and the love that grows between Rex and Danika, all of those reasons and more are why this book is one you don’t want to miss out on. Not only that but nothing is sexier than a single dad that has as much love and devotion to his daughter that Rex has for Ruby.
I never thought a group of guys going golfing could be so freaking entertaining to read about but boy did Jacob Chance make it that and more. I would definitely recommend this book.
I was invested in this story from page 1! That’s really all you want or need out of a story and Jacob Chance delivers that with his first few paragraphs and his characters. The interaction and dialogue between Rex and Danika had me laughing. Rex’s temper made me giggle, especially his 3 “go-to” words when he gets mad. And, the mention of Danika watching “Outlander” made me love her even more. I enjoyed this story immensely! Bring on Manfax!
I guess I didn’t agree with everyone on this, I saw it had lots of 5 star reviews and I loved Jacob’s Boston Terries Hockey Series but it wasn’t a total hit for me. I honestly didn’t like how it started but after that I enjoyed it! It was a cute, and sexy rom-com.
When Danika first met Rex, it got her 6 weeks of anger management. So let’s just say, she wasn’t his biggest fan. To make matters worse, not only was he in the class too, but they get partnered up. Did the universe hate her?
Rex knew Danika couldn’t stand him, but that didn’t stop his infatuation with her. The more he tried, the more he saw he guard slip. Would he be able to make her fall for him or would she keep him friend zoned?
Their banter back and forth was priceless! It had many laugh out loud moments. I did enjoy it, it just wasn’t my favorite by him but definitely worth the read!
Rex and Danika are a fun and delightful couple.
Their meeting is a giggle-fest. The chemistry is unending. As the relationship evolves they are so fun to watch. When you add in a teenaged daughter, Dankia’s friends and Rex’s family this is a truly fun and entertaining read.
Rex has issues and Danika has an issue with him. Being stuck in the same anger management class for 6 weeks gives the opportunity to expand the relationship from tolerance, to friendship to an inferno and then more!
I really enjoyed this book!
Laugh out loud Rom Com.
An absolute hoot.
Loved the banter between these two.
Cute story! I liked a lot that happened in here. I was surprised that a man wrote this. Usually they write harder grittier scenes. This one was soft and almost like from a woman’s POV. The anger scenarios and the class was interesting. The family, kid and friends were all fun adds to the story. Especially when the brothers riled up Rex and hand a bet on the outcome. That was great.
This isn’t my first book by this author. I enjoy his writing style. The story was easy and flowed nicely. The characters were fun, flirty and interesting. I look forward to more by him.
Great book
This was a great rom com with a hot blooded alpha that knows what he wants and that is Danika the women who gives him a ticket. This is a great story that pulled me in from the beginning with laughs, anger issues and some fun on their way to a hea.
I dived into this read for a little rom-com magic and it did not disappoint.
Danika meets Rex when she is ticketing his truck. He tries to not only charm his way out of it, but he asks her out.
Unfortunately, their meet cute turns into a bit of a dust-up that ends up with him arrested and her ordered to anger management by her boss.
An anger management class that includes the man who caused her to be there.
Rex is a hot, charming, single father.
Danika is single. On a major post divorce dry spell. And, while attracted to the hot headed Rex, she is also determined to resist his advances.
Resistance made harder by their being paired up in anger management. When their forced contact leads to friendship and so much more.
Witty, sweet, steamy, a dash of drama, meddling brothers, friends, and a charming teen, this was an very enjoyable read. Just what I needed. Left me smiling and feeling happy in my heart.
I will confess a weakness for Boston boys, so that may have biased me a bit. Rex is simply irresistible.
And Danika is fiesty but collected. She has fire in her too, but it takes a lot more for her to boil over. She and Rex are perfect for each other.
I can’t wait to read the next book!!
I received a review copy. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
First romcom of 2020 and it was FANTASTIC!
Rex and Dani’s sexual chemistry oozed off the pages.
I laughed so much my cheeks hurt.
I’m smiling as I try think of what to write that will make you read it..just trust me..read it..it’s funny AF.
P.S. I’m ordering this one in paperback if that tells you how much I loved it.

This was my first book by Jacob Chance and it was in large part due to the cover! I loved the color and style, it grabbed me and I knew I had to read this book. I have heard of the Man-Cold but the Mantrum was new to me, and also 100% appropriate. Men can totally be big babies.
Rex has a short fuse and that is putting it mildly. When he meets his heroine Danika, she is giving him a parking ticket. You might think, “Oh I know where this is going”, He’s going to throw a mantrum over the ticket and get all angry. Now while he doesn’t enjoy getting a parking ticket (who would) his anger is never directed at Danika, but at someone observing their interaction who films them. And a big Thank You to Jacob Chance for that one, because anger towards or violence towards women is extremely difficult for me to stomach as a reader. Anywho, They both end up in the same anger management class and their relationship begins to develop.
This book was light and funny, both characters had a strong wit and their banter was fun to read. It also dealt with some serious topics related to anger management and its consequences. While I enjoyed this book I felt that there were some unresolved issues in Danika’s backstory, regarding her anger and her family. I feel like there is a part of that story that is missing. I also felt that while Rex’s anger was addressed more thoroughly, the ending felt a little rushed and too simple. Overall this was an enjoyable read and I recommend it to fans of romantic comedies everywhere. I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily give my review
I looooved this book! It was a quick read but I enjoyed every part of it. It was a nice change to have older (And I used that term loosely since they’re my age!) characters. It was real life situations and I felt like I could be a person in the story. The wit and humor were perfect in this rom-com. It was, once again, a great book by Jacob. He just never disappoints!
Mantrum is a fun, opposites-attract romance, and Rex and Danika really burn up the pages. This pair has chemistry to spare even when Rex is doing something completely juvenile, which happens more than once. Anger management class isn’t someplace I would expect a romance to bloom, but bloom it does. I’ll admit that I wasn’t sure about this pair, chemistry or not, in the beginning. Some of Rex’s actions were so completely childish that I probably would’ve needed anger management just from being around him, but at some point, he won me over, and I was all in. Danika is a strong woman, which is a good thing because that’s exactly what Rex needs. I won’t say more so I don’t spoil the fun, but suffice it to say that Mantrum is engaging and it’s packed full of great characters, some wit and humor, a bit of oh, so sexy fun, and a couple you just can’t help but root for.
