Just a great story line, love it
This book was very informative about human trafficking. I would have never expected this when I first started reading the book. It was very good and seemed realistic. It was a fast, clean, faith filled book.
I really enjoyed this book!! The only thing was, I’d have liked it to be longer!! It’s a really good read, though, and shows that God can work with us, no matter what we may have in our past. And, that we each have worth, no matter what our background is. I also have to commend Marisa on telling us about the white slavers that were in Wisconsin during this time period.
I received a complimentary copy of the book, and was not required to leave a review. The view expressed is totally my own.
This is Book #2 in the Idyll Wood series and is Manny and Carlene’s story, both of who have encountered difficulties, trials and hardship in their lives. This is a great story full of action, adventure, romance and a HEA. The author has done a remarkable job of the development of the characters. I really enjoyed this story and highly recommend it. Hopefully, there will be a Book #3 in this series.
Manny has been through some rough patches in his life. His Mother passed away when he was younger, his Father is a brusque man who dotes on his older brother Ram. He has seen his brother jailed for kidnapping and attacking young Zelly Fuller.
He turned to drinking and gambling to hide his feelings of incompetence. After Ram is jailed it just spirals until he cannot take it anymore and he decides that to overcome his vices, he must leave this town!
Carlene comes to town to answer an ad for work. She comes with trepidation and overhears the owner of the hotel she is seeking work at telling one of his employees to take her to the boss and let him deal with her. She fears this means she will become a soiled dove and schemes to run away. She meets Manny in the livery that night and begs for a ride out of town… Dressed as a boy
she convinces him and they head to a logging camp looking for work…
Manny continues to fight his demons, and Carlene “Carl” continues her masquerade. Things come to a head when he figures out
that Carl is not a boy.
They head back to Idyllwood and mysteries abound. Intrigue, deception, and people who are not what they seem to be!
You will enjoy the twists this plot takes. Carlene and Manny make a very good team.. Will love come to them?
I received an ARC of this book and am choosing to leave an honest review.
Manny has enough of his lifestyle and want to sober up, but that wasn’t easy. When he decides to go to a lumber camp he meets Charlene who just escaped being abducted. She thinks she’s a boy and he takes her with him. When he discovers her secret they leave the camp but now they are forced to get married. Can they finally live the life they longed for or will trouble still find them?
Really entertaining story. Loved to read that these characters who haven’t felt love before did find it together.
Haunting because this is based on truth so to me that makes it haunting. I enjoyed another good read from Marisa Masterson. This book takes you on a journey and then back again.I don’t do spoilers but you will enjoy this book I did.
I loved this book. There were a lot of surprises in this story. I highly recommend this book and author. I hope there are more books about Idyll Woods.
