Welcome to Beautiful Beasts Academy, where the only thing more dangerous than the haunted grounds are the students themselves.Life as the daughter of the city’s most prominent Vampire was tough enough. Bodyguards with fangs. Paparazzi everywhere I turn. Dates with an overbearing Demon. I hated it all. So when the opportunity to attend Academy reared its head, I jumped at the chance. I could hide … attend Academy reared its head, I jumped at the chance.
I could hide there, blend in with all the other beautiful beasts and try to ignore my bodyguard.

Okay I am officially hooked on this new world and its fantastic characters!! We follow Morwenna an important Vamp that is forced to enroll in the Academy. She thinks this will be the perfect chance to get away and live for a moment but life has other plans once she arrives. Full of intrigue, snark, danger, mystery, and so much more that will keep you turning the page until you run out wishing you had more. A total must read for fans of paranormal reverse harem Academy books. I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.
The author states thus book is for 18+, but I’m not sure why. There is no sexual situations, there is some mild mild, so maybe that’s the reason.
I would say this is YA. Morwenna is an interesting character and it looks like her life is just going to get more exciting. The scholl is for all sort of beasties, but also has a couple if humans just to show they can all get along. In some ways the school is typical with bullying, popular kids, and such. This school takes the typical to extremes, so much so that in could end in death just so the unpopular gets expelled. The reverse harem part is very slowly revealed and not at all finalized in this book. The plot is interesting as well as entertaining.
I gotta say I love Ava and her conversations with Mor. I liked seeing Mor’s growth from pampered princess and her growing connection to the Wolves. And I’m loving the side dynamic with Ava and Chuck too. I’m so intrigued to see where this series is going and to find out more about the Understudy.
I really loved this book and think it is an excellent beginning to this series! I love the characters, especially Mor and Ava. I am excited to see the relationship between Mor and the guys develop in the future books. The storyline is exciting and action packed and will keep you reading to the very end. I would absolutely recommend this book and I’m really excited to read book two.
When boarding school is just what you needed. There is mystery, vamps, werewolves, and even a kraken and this is only her first year. This is the 1st story in this series and reading this one is awesome and makes you anxious to read the next book in the series. I recommend this story.
A group of young supernaturals coming together in a school and forming bonds that shouldn’t be possible, they are enemies after all, right?
This is a really good story, interesting and intriguing with a particularly unique character in Ava!
I offered to review this audiobook because I am such an an avid reader but also almost exclusively audio due to my schedule. Because of this, and the fact that a bad narrator can destroy a great series, I can be very critical of narrators. Especially when books have a single narrator required to speak with different voices for multiple characters. Most cannot do it without having some errors where they use the wrong ‘voice’ for the wrong character. Caitlyn Johnston does a good job in narrating this book! It was a very enjoyable listen and I only noticed one issue distinguishing between characters.
As to the story, I am not one to give a lot of specific story details since I feel you should read the story for that. This is book 1 of a series with great characters, and story development. It was a bit slow of a start, but given my experience with other Kim Faulks’ books I decided to keep listening and I am very glad I did. You definitely won’t be disappointed if you decide to give it a try!
I received a free review copy of this audiobook and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Morwena is a spoiled little rich vampire. Her father is kinda like a vampire mafia don. No one messes with him. Her journey starts when she insults an important guest at a dinner party. This is not her first stunt. Her dad sends her to a strict supernatural academy. I loved seeing her character and attitudes change the more she listened and learned. She found her first best friend, Ava, and her three wolves, Judas, Bond, and Nero, They want to know all about her and protect her. Ava and Mor are so funny and their friendship is tight. I loved this book and am excited to start the next one.
I loved this series so much.
First off, I just love Ava and I want to be just like her!! Mor has been a dutiful daughter all her life, and when she gets the chance to attend Bestias Academy she jumps at the chance. What happens next is a little murder, mystery and boys. What more could you want?
And we can’t forget about Ava… once she and Mor become friends, we get to see her true colors, her snarky comments, her amazing personality. I can’t wait to see what kind of trouble these two get into. And we need more
*** No Spoilers ***
This book has a very interesting plot. Mila and Kim did a fantastic job with the characters and storyline. Morwenna is a vamp that has had a shelter life. She is shipped off to the academy for embarrassing her parents. Her life is turned upside down. Bullying shifters, hot shifters, and a weirdo best friend. This story is full of action and mystery.
••• I recommend this book/series. •••
~~ I have Kindle Unlimited, and I used that service to read this book. ~~
Another book I was surprised I liked and enjoyed as much as I did. Loved the ‘twist’ of one main characters shifted from big surprise as I’ve never seen it done before. Looking forward to the next book will be downloading it soon
Crazy, funny stuff, a little YA with a 100 year old vampire. These two authors have done it again, this time with a sheltered Vampire, Mor & Ava, the wall flower that eats her enemies. A little murder mystery, some bullying and a party to literally die for all wrapped up with a bloody bow.
Manicures and Mayhem by Mila Young and Kim Faulks is book one in their Beautiful Beasts Academy. Prepare to dive into a fun, fast-paced novel that will have you rolling your eyes, giggling, leaning forward in eager anticipation, and begging for more by the end.
Meet…Morwenna, the vampire daughter of a very powerful vampire who pulls no punches…only fangs. LOL! Her father is feared, important, and wants the best for her but she just wants a regular life. Apparently, she’s a bit obsessed with 90210 and finding her “Dylan.” So after an embarrassing scene, that she totally did at a party, she’s given the opportunity to go to Bestia’s Academy. Mor jumps at the opportunity thinking that this is her chance…too bad it won’t be what she’s expecting. But things only get intense and really crazy as danger makes itself known in the worst way possible…dead body in the new girl’s room.
I must admit that I enjoyed this book immensely. At first, I was on the fence concerning Morwenna. I was a bit humored by her antics at the party, but I was also mortified for her parents. It’d be one thing if she had said/done what she did to a low level vamp…but it was someone of rank! So I was expecting her to get into some serious trouble. Too bad that never happened. Yeah, I like a bit of punishment. LOL! I honestly got a bit smug though when she got to the Academy and saw that things weren’t going to be what she was accustomed to. She wanted freedom, independence, and space and the minute she gets it you see the “princess” attitude comes out. I liked her development though. The variety of characters the authors give us are great! I more than happily admit that I am LOVING Ava! She is AWESOME!
Now, while I rolled my eyes a few times at Morwenna and her attitude concerning certain things I have to say that there isn’t anything that I don’t like about this book! There are some predictable elements, but I loved the air of mystery, the danger, the romance, and the unpredictable moments that the authors give us.
This book is a must read! It’s a perfectly balanced coming of age novel with hints of a reverse harem romance. I can’t wait for more and I am literally begging the authors to give us more of that and of course, I am eagerly wanting more of Ava and Chuck. That is promising to be something hilarious, delicious, and intense and I am here for it! I am rating this book 5 out of 5 stars!
I wasn’t to sure what to expect with this book but I was stoked with what I got, Morwenna is expecting to be able to act normal for once when she attends the academy, but of course things don’t quiet go to plan. You have great characters that you may end up to love or hate, plenty of action, laughs and creatures that would normally go bump in the night that are out and about. This is a great start to the series and can not wait to see what else in store for our friends .. and foe!
Well worth reading!
Ok where to start, let me firstly say that only these wonderfully wacky ladies could create something this bonkers but brilliant. The book starts off a little slow which is such a shame because once it gets going its a really good storey. Mor is a fantastic lead Characteur as she has an air of vunerability about her and isn’t a kick ass heroine from page one. Ava – well what can I say other than I couldn’t have guessed what shifter she was and that’s where the bonkers comes in but its genius, it really is. There is humour, friendship and potential love interest that have me really looking forward to book two as the heat will definitely start to rise with Mor and her wolves but also hopefully with Ava and Chuck. There are so many Academy books coming out and a lot of them are really good but only a few fall into the brilliant, absolutely cant wait for the next instalment category and this is one of those books.
Manicures and Mayhem is Book 1 in the Beautiful Beasts Academy series. Morwenna, a 99-year-old vampire princess, only wants a normal boring life for a change so she jumps at the chance to attend the Academy. However, this is not what she get. I love Ava, she is truly what a best friend should be. We have a wide variety of paranormal creatures — vampire, shifter, kracken, shadows — just to name a few. This is a fast paced read that keeps you turning pages to the end and wishing there were more. Anxious for Book 2 to arrive. A must read that I highly recommend. Received an ARC and this is my voluntary and honest review.
Definitely an intriguing and enjoyable new Academy series.
I will say it took me a bit to get into the story, but once Mor met Ava and the Wolves I really started enjoying the story and it’s characters.
With so many supernaturals at this Academy and lots of adventure and action you won’t be left disappointed.
Mor is one interesting Vampire, she is kinda spoiled and expects things to be her way but once she makes friends and moves past her prejudices she really grows on you and you want her to succeed.
Ava is the quirky and weird best friend you want, she has your back and isn’t afraid to hit on your bodyguard.
Judas, Bond and Nero are the Wolves and Mor’s love interests, they seem to have this instant connection with Mor and just want to protect her.
Im excited to see what happens next with Mor and her Wolves and her bff Ava.
I’m so enjoying this series!!! If I thought the prequel was awesome, book one in this series was amazing. Morwenna and her rich people problem, add the facts that she spoiled, she wasn’t getting any sympathy points from me. But more and more thorough out the story she changed, she learned, and I loved her. Also can we talk about how awesome Ava is!!! She kind soul and definitely went the extra mile for her friend Mor. Throw in plenty of intrigue, suspense, and action and we had a hell of read so looking forward to seeing what else is in store for this series. I voluntarily read and review this ARC no monetary compensation was received the opinions I have expressed are my own.
