The perfect man for me is a charming, sexy, hot as hell lawyer who knows how to negotiate his way into my panties.#PfftwhateverBeen there.Done that.Burned the T-shirt.I didn’t swear off all men after my divorce, but I sure as hell swore off anyone remotely like my ex. On the top of that list? Attorneys. Everyone knows they can’t be trusted. Now that I’ve moved back into my childhood home in … moved back into my childhood home in Chicago, my focus is my daughter, my mom and me. I haven’t given up on finding my happily-ever-after, it’s just on hold-indefinitely. Yup, life is in a real upswing.
Then I see Reed Warner again, and I’m reminded of all my mistakes. I push him away, but somehow he weasels his way into every part of my life, not willing to take no for an answer.
In spite of my better judgment I can’t stop thinking about the way his designer suits fit his muscular frame, or the way his blue eyes seem to eat me up with every glance.
You know when you’re on a diet and even hummus seems irresistible? Reed is like the equivalent of chocolate éclair and my willpower is fading fast.
The problem? Not only is he a lawyer…
He was the best man at my wedding.

I honestly become giddy when I find out that Piper Rayne are coming out with a new series! And to bring in secondary characters from previous books, absolutely perfect! It makes you want to go back and catch up with the main characters of this story before diving in.
Manic Monday is the story of Victoria and Reed.
Victoria is a divorced mom of a precocious seven year old and her ex is just a “Sometimes Dad”. She moves to Chicago to be close to her mom and runs into the best man of her wedding to the dreaded ex-husband. Lo and behold it’s Reed and can we get an “A-men” at his dreaminess? Victoria is done being a second thought, a second choice, a second anything. She uses this move as an opportunity to be selfish and think of herself first. She was done giving up what she wanted to be in an unfulfilling relationship!
Reed is fantastic! He is altruistic and swoony and doesn’t give up on what he wants! Even though he and Victoria met under a less than perfect setting (her wedding!), their chemistry is off the charts! His relationship with his little brother Henry makes your heart melt and his alpha swagger when it comes to Victoria’s ex husband is just wowza!
There is the angst, but it’s just the right amount. You know there is going to be some when dealing with ex’s, but it’s not overwhelming and it just brings more to the story.
This is a fantastic first book in the series and I cannot wait to read what’s next! You can never go wrong with a Piper Rayne story! This dynamic duo is amazing!
This is the story of Victoria Clarke, a divorced mother of a seven year old, after she moves back to Chicago to be close to her mother. Upon her return she’ll encounter a blast from the past in the form of sexy lawyer Reed Warner, a former friend of her ex-husband’s, and her life will take a rather interesting turn.
If you’ve read the Dirty Truth series, you’ve already met Victoria and know what kind of woman she is, but it’s fine if you haven’t as, either way, you’re in for a treat!
I really like this book, but I’m yet to find a book I don’t like by Piper Rayne. I loved the writing and these ladies have an amazing talent to give life to the most beautiful characters.
Reed is a great man and I enjoyed the fact that he was an absolute departure of the seriously overrated alpha males. He’s decent, selfless and sweet, with his feet firmly planted on the ground and determined without being overbearing. And Lord knows, we all need a Reed Warner in our lives!
Then, I loved the ladies. All of them! Hannah, Chelsea, Diane and Jade, because every one of them brought something to the story from one line delivery to a conversation about three ways. And then, there’s Victoria, a single mother, holding a job, going to school and trying to find her footing in her new life while still being capable of chewing someone up and spitting the bones out without losing her cool.
Manic Monday is a great kick off to the new series and I was happily reminded of the ladies from Modern Love.
I absolutely love this book and am so glad that I was lucky enough to beta read it!!! Piper and Rayne continue to outdo themselves over and over again but the first book is still as great as the last and how they keep coming up with these wonderful characters I have no idea but I hope and pray it never ends!!!
Victoria is my girl let me tell you!!! I absolutely adore her. Not only is she kicking a$$ being a single parent but she’s working full time and going to school. Plus she moved back home to take care of her mom who was diagnosed with MS. Ok here is were I’m gonna get a little emotional on y’all. For Piper and Rayne to put that she picked her entire life up and moved back in with her mom to take of her was amazing. Because for someone who has MS it’s so hard for us to admit we need help especially at the beginning of a diagnosis. And for them to touch on it just that little bit was the best thing in the world for me because they picked up on that after talking to me and I didn’t say a word. I love you guys!!!!
Now on to my future husband Reed. Damn that man!!! He’s a smooth as butter on some pancakes. Let me tell y’all that man has some moves. And he’s as patient as a saint and as sexy as a sinner. And that’s all y’all need to know about this book except that you need to read it!!! I highly highly recommend it!!!!
Manic Monday (Charity Case Book 1) by Piper Rayne is a sweet and sexy romantic comedy. It’s a standalone with no cliffhanger told in the first person, single point of view.
The story follows Victoria, a divorced single parent and student pursuing her degree who recently relocated to Chicago due to her mother’s declining health. One Monday morning, when dropping off her daughter, Jade, at school, she runs into the handsome Reed Warner, an unexpected blast from her past.
Reed wants to reconnect, but despite their mutual attraction Victoria is determined that nothing can happen between them because 1.) Reed was the best man at her wedding and 2.) He is a lawyer just like her ex-husband. Not easily discouraged, Reed continues to pursue Victoria and over time, he not only earns her trust but her heart.
This is the first book I’ve read by author duo, Piper Rayne, and it definitely will not be the last. All the characters were great – so fun and relatable – especially the secondary ones who brought humor to the story. The challenges presented were realistic without being over-the-top dramatic. I devoured this book in all its funny, sweet, steamy goodness – a highly enjoyable read.

After her divorce, Victoria had to pick up the pieces and make her life for her daughter, Jade. Moving back home to help her ailing mother, being a single working/student mother is hard, but Victoria is not going to let that stop her. One Monday morning, when dropping her daughter off at school, she runs into Reed Warner, the best man at her wedding. When it turns out that he does indeed remember her, and wants to reconnect, Victoria is immediately on the defense, there is no way she will go there with a lawyer again, she doesn’t have time for that. But Reed proves just why he is so good at his job and doesn’t let Victoria slip through his fingers. When the two decide to give it a try, everything from mean moms, to ex’s come into the picture. Will Victoria be able to trust Reed, or will she let her distrust of the opposite sex ruin this chance for her?
This was an entertaining story, that gives us a funny look into life after divorce. With drama, some sweet moments, good sexy times, and some funny side characters, Piper Rayne did not disappoint. I give this 4 stars.
Manic Monday is a hilariously sassy laugh out loud story. Ashley @ White Hot Reads
My first book my Piper and Rayne and it won’t be my last. I didn’t know what Manic Monday was going to hold but it had me laughing out loud at the Sassy story line. The banter with Victoria her friends in Chicago which include her mother kept me in stiches throughout the book. Victoria is a single mom dealing with real issues any single divorced mom would deal with. Reed is the hot best-man who has always had eyes for Victoria. This love story is one that will keep you laughing all the while, Victoria and Reed get their Happily Ever After.
I cannot wait to see Hannah and Chelsea get their HEA’s too in the books to come!
Yup, it’s official! I’ll read anything this dynamic duo writes!!!!
I loved this book… sweet, funny, steamy! Perfect in my book 😉
Reed is the entire package…and what a package it is! Hot, smart, a sweetheart, successful, a gentleman…oh but he was also in my wedding! As my ex husbands best man :/
Victoria isnt blind, she sees Reed but he should be off limits, right? But how long can she resist him? He’s got it all going on…he’s a real man and amazing with her daughter! Yes please!
This book was awesome! The writing, the characters, the sexy times, the hilarious banter…I loved it!
Highly recommend this book & author! I haven’t read anything they’ve written that I haven’t loved!
This is a fabulous start to the Charity Case series by the dynamic duo Piper Rayne !
Victoria has finally decided to make herself and her daughter number one . Fresh off a divorce she moves back to her home town of Chicago to care for her mom and herself. What she doesn’t expect to find is the man that stood as her ex-husbands best man standing outside of her daughter’s new school. Victoria is sassy sexy and oh so refreshing she does not back down and I loved her spunk!
Reed cannot believe that he has once again crossed paths with the lovely Victoria it has been eight years since she married his friend Pete …a day that he will not soon forget but here she stands no longer someone else’s wife . Reed realizes no matter what it takes he can show her that not all men are like her ex . She deserves to be valued and cherished and he is just the man to do it. Reed is quite shall we say swoon worthy and certainly book boyfriend material !
It is a sexy funny heart warming story that shows you that true love still can prevail and fate does sometimes step in!
Loved it !!

I can’t even begin to tell you how happy I am that Piper Rayne has put the men on hold and went back to books about the ladies!!! Trust me, I love all the guys and the series they came from but I have been WAITING for the ladies to make a return! And boy did they ever!
Manic Monday is the story of Victoria, who has moved back to Chicago with her daughter to help take care of her mother. She’s a woman on a mission to help her mom, raise her daughter, work and go to school, NO time for a man. So she thinks…until Victoria just so happens to run into her ex-husband’s best friend, Reed, who was also the best man at her wedding.
Reed. I truly can’t say enough about the guy. I think he is one of the best heros that Piper Rayne has written. He’s gorgeous, a lawyer and an all around good guy. Reed is determined not to let Victoria get away…again.
I was captivated from the first chapter and finished the book in one evening. I love how we get to watch the progression of Reed and Victoria’s relationship. It seems so natural, so perfect, something meant to be. I LOVED all the secondary characters, from the kids, to Victoria’s mom, the crazy PTA moms, Pete and the ladies with books to come!
Manic Monday is truly the perfect start to the Charity Case series and I cannot wait for more!
And Piper Rayne, if you do see this, Pete needs his own book! Thanks 😉
Victoria is one very strong woman whom I greatly admire. Due to her mom’s declining health she moves her daughter, Jade, and herself back home to Chicago. They are now living with her mom while she is working a full time job and going back to school to finish her degree. She has no time, no desire for dates/relationships. Plus no trust due to cheating ex.
Reed is beyond awesome in every way. He was the best man for her ex in their wedding but he doesn’t have any qualms about that. He and her ex had a falling out many years ago. Victoria really struggles with that and the fact that he’s a lawyer. He has so much patience and slowly breaks down every wall and gains Victoria’s trust. It was so beautiful that these two connect on some many levels.
Reed gets the job offer of a life time but it means moving out of the area and possibly leaving Victoria and Jade behind. Victoria has to decide whether to uproot Jade and her own life to follow Reed.
I can’t decide which point I like best in the book…..when Reed and Victoria first run into each other at Jade’s school and right in front of the busy body mom’s he leaves all their’s mouths hanging open, including Victoria’s when he passes by her and says ‘Nice seeing you again. We’ll have to catch up.” or when Jade’s dad shows up to pick her up and Victoria’s mom has lots of snide comments….. Love that woman!
This was a wonderful easy flowing, warm, fun read.
Manic Monday is the first book in the brand new Charity Case Series by the amaz-a-balls author duo Piper Rayne. I’ve read every single one of these two authors books, well, writing as Piper Rayne that is and I can testify, hand on heart, (your honor), this one is my favorite.
It’s set in Chicago and features Victoria Clarke, the recently divorced mom of seven year old Jade and lawyer about town, Reed Warner.
Victoria lived in L.A and worked for Jared Kale whom we met in Chore Play, but after her mom became ill, she needed to relocated back home and he was instrumental in getting her new job there working at RISE. Now, she’s all about, work and school, both hers and Jade’s. If you want a little insight into how all this went down, then grab your copy of Clean Slate which is currently free.
So, now she’s back home, living with her mom and working on getting her degree so she can start afresh. She’s not looking for a man, or a relationship, certainly not love, so when Reed breezes into her life she’s less than receptive, at least at first.
Reed is a sweet, wholesome guy even if he is in Victoria’s eyes ‘a dreaded lawyer’. He pretty much wears his heart on his sleeve and isn’t slow at showing Victoria that he’s interested. He’s quiet mannered, driven and an all round good guy, but he’s got a fight on his hands to make Victoria see beyond the title and the fact that he not only knows her ex, he was friends with him, and his best man at the wedding.
Victoria is laden with baggage from her broken marriage, she’s jaded and just isn’t ready to fall in love, but fate has different ideas.
Will she succumb to the gorgeous sweet, hottie that is Reed Warner, or will she let her horrid ex win?

I did not just love this book, I needed this book. In the middle of a stressful week, I started reading it, and I felt the stress leave every time I picked it up and started reading. It was absolutely wonderful! I laughed so much. First, I want a Reed. Sexy and sweet, what a perfect combination. He said that he was not perfect, but he was not far from it. Then there is Victoria and her daughter Jade. Jade was just the best. I love children in a romance book, and she really adds to this one. So, would you date the best man in your wedding after getting divorced? and the ex and the best man are both lawyers? Victoria said no too, but …. You have to read it. I voluntarily reviewed this advance copy, and I highly recommend it.
Victoria divorced her workaholic husband Peter two years ago. The only good thing to come out of her marriage was her daughter, Jade. When Victoria’s mother is diagnosed with MS, she needs to move back to Chicago from LA. When dropping Jade off at her first day of her new school in Chicago, she sees Reed, the best man from her wedding, dropping off a young boy. Reed is the perfect guy, an ADA, works in the Big Brother program, is hot and super rich. Victoria is still carrying major baggage from her marriage, so it takes persistence from Reed to convince her to take a chance on love again. Great fun romance.
Let’s go to one more deliciously sensual romantic comedy of Piper Rayne? I was already longing to have a good laugh with these two mysterious writers, I have been getting a few books for a while because of a college that is consuming my wits but this time I could not resist and there was Piper Rayne making me laugh ….
Manic Monday tells the story of the difficult Victoria, a young woman who, after a marriage in which she was annulled over for her lawyer’s and selfish ex-husband, decided to take care of herself and dedicate herself to her sick mother and her cute and witty seven-year-old daughter .
But she would never have imagined that she would find Reed again, an extremely attractive and seductive man who has put on his head that will win Victoria´s heart. The problem is she decided to not date so soon, everything is complicated when the guy in question was friends with her ex-husband and is still a lawyer too, but Reed does not give up and begins a strong campaign to prove his value to the girl and show that not all lawyers are the same.
Narrated in the first person by Victory and with a sexy plot full of humor and sweetness I accompanied Reed break down barrier by the barrier of the heart of Victory and I twisted so very much by them. I found the most writers really wanted to show women’s empowerment but fails when in my opinion they can only reinforce that the boss is the man. Piper Rayne showed with mastery and fun that their heroin really was resolved to devote herself and control her own life and all this without losing her tenderness.
I loved Prince Reed, the little prince Henry (who I hope could has a book coming soon) and Princess Jade. and I loved even more the reason for choosing the title
Manic Monday was an enjoyable and easy to read contemporary romance . This is the first book in the Charity Case series and my first novel by this author and I loved it. This story was sweet and at times hilarious.
Reed was just your all round good guy and you could not help but love him. He had his job cut out for him convincing single mom Victoria to go out with him. Their back and forth banter will have you amused.
The secondary characters were all amazing especially Jade and Henry. OMG….cuteness overload. You’ll definitely want to know more about Victoria’s co-workers and friends Hannah and Chelsea. The epilogue set us up nicely for Chelsea’s story to come in the next book.
I really enjoyed this story and would recommend it to those looking for a fun romantic tale.
As always with a Piper Rayne book I just couldn’t put it down until I read those two little words we all hate when we LOVE a book so much……”The End”. Reed and Victoria’s story was addicting, sexy. laugh out loud funny that will definitely have you begging for more. I LOVED Victoria’s sassiness and tell-it-like-it-is-attitude when you read the “late show date” you’ll understand and think……BOOM (drop the mic)!!! Reed is sweet, sexy and so different from the other male characters from Piper Rayne but I think that made me fall more in love with him. Good Luck with reading this book and not claiming these characters as your FAVORITES!!!
4.5*
I was going to say this was my favorite Piper Rayne book, but then I realized Lennon might come and knock me upside my head with one of her unicorn cocks so I thought better of it. So let’s just say Manic Monday is a very close second to Mad About the Banker, because this girl does not want to get on that girls bad side.
With Manic Monday Piper and Rayne once again deliver a light, easy, enjoyable read. I’m not sure how they’re able to regularly churn out these fun and charming books, that are as consistent as they are entertaining. I love that you really know what to expect when you open one of their books, and that is not a bad thing at all!
I loved Victoria and Jade! Victoria is such a strong, determined single mother to Jade, and a caring and loving daughter herself. Not giving it a second thought, she uprooted her and Jade’s lives when her mother needed them. I found that so admirable, even if it did make me sad she was leaving Jagger! (I’d highly recommend grabbing Clean Slate, a quick prequel to this book, which gives you just a bit of background on her relationship with Jagger and what brings her back home to Chicago.)
Jade is a precocious little seven year old who completely my stole my heart- you could just feel all the love she had to share.
And I loved Reed! If I can’t say this is my favorite PR book I’m sure as heck going to say Reed is my new favorite PR hero! He is all kinds of sweet, sexy, swoony, perfection! The fact that he and Victoria’s ex used to be friends held no bearing for him and he wasn’t going to let that be used as an excuse by Vic. I loved his persistency and dedication! So many check marks in the plus column when it came to Reed, I don’t think there was one thing I didn’t love about him!
I love that there wasn’t a lot of crazy conflict or unnecessary drama between Reed and Victoria, thrown in for the sake of drama. The conflict that did come up between them was realistic, and they handled it like *semi :)* sensible adults!
Manic Monday was sweet, funny, steamy- all the good I’ve come to expect from a Piper Rayne book.
5 STARS FOR MANIC MONDAY!! I absolutely loved this book, it has all the feels and fantastic characters. Victoria and Reed have a story to tell you and it is fun, sexy, sweet and perfectly written. This is my first book by Piper Rayne and I can’t wait to read more. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
What a great start to the series. I’ll start right off by saying I can’t wait to see what happens next in book two, cuz Manic Monday was just that dang good. The book is wonderfully written with humor, romance and lots of events that happen in everyday life that everyone can relate too. I found myself laughing and smiling throughout the book.
The characters the author’s gave us are just perfect for the storyline. Vic is divorced with a 7 year old daughter living in LA. Needless to say her opinion of men at this time in her life is not very good. She’s given up on the happy ever after and is concentrating on her child, her schooling and work. But when her mom get sick, she moves back home to Chicago with her daughter in order to help care for her. Her old boss helps her with a new job which turns out perfect for Vic. She works with two other women, Hannah her boss and Chelsea a hilarious coworker. Both women are divorced and let me tell you these women are a hoot, but just exactly what Vic needs in her life. (But no spoilers from me so I’ll hush on that). Vic also runs into Reed which dropping her daughter off at school. Reed is a very sexy man who is absolutely too good to be true in at almost everything. Needless to say the instant chemistry between them is off the charts, the trouble is he has 3 strikes against him in Vic’s book: he’s male, he’s an attorney like her ex and he was her ex’s best man at their wedding. So he’s a definite NO GO in her book. But what about in Reed’s book?
If you want a great read that will have you laughing, almost to the point of tears at times, wanting to bop a few mean moms and stuff shirts on the head a time or two and pretty much have you grinning from ear to ear throughout, this is a great book to read. I highly recommend it and as I said up top, I can’t wait for book 2. Chelsea, the wild crazy divorcee at the office is up next, and all I can say is OH Boy is it going to be a hum dinger… I can just feel it. 2 Thumbs Up for Manic Monday.
A real life Unicorn!!!
A fabulous, fun, and flirtatious read! Another phenomenal book by these 2 amazing authors. The characters were well developed and extremely lovable. The single parent genre is one of my all time favorites to read.
