Janet Pierce is an FBI agent whose life has been altered by one man – Dante Buccherri. He has killed everyone she loves and she is afraid to let anyone get close to her in fear that she will lose them in some way.
Tony Aiello is head of security for many of the “Families” around New York. He grew up working for Dante but when Dante ended up in jail, Dante took over his position and he regrets not killing Dante when he had the chance.
When a parole hearing for Dante comes up after he has been in jail for 20 years, Janet fears what could go wrong and soon her worst fears come true as Dante escapes. Now Tony and Janet must put aside their differences and come together in order to catch Dante and get him back in jail where he belongs. But who else is working with Dante and soon they discover that the Russians have their own goals and everything becomes much more dangerous.
This was such a great book but the murders are gruesome and bloody so not for everyone but I loved it!
Janet is such a great character with so much “baggage” from her past due to the actions of Dante. It was interesting learning about her mom and how everything happened. I loved that Janet was determined to keep Dante in jail but she had a sinking feeling that something was going to go horribly wrong at the beginning of the book.
Tony is such an awesome character and from the first book to now there has been a complete change in his character. In the first book you don’t like him but in the second you do and now I just love him!! He is strong but at the same time I really felt bad at the fact that his career seemed to come ahead of his daughters. Miss Aida was raising his girls with his help but with job he was just never at home.
Janet and Tony had so much chemistry and I knew things would get hot heavy due to their attraction and their situation. I really wanted them together as I really wanted both of their characters to get a happy ever after but things didn’t look good for a lot of the book.
Dante was another super evil and dark character who lacked any fiber of morality in his body. He loved his killings to be as horrific as possible and he wanted everyone to know that he was responsible. He was aided by the Russians but he also had an agenda that was different from theirs and he knew he wanted to accomplish his before theirs.
There were a few surprises with alliances but with everything going down you knew a few shady things were bound to happen. I was pretty mad at a few of the events that happened because of this but in the end certain people got what they deserved.
I was definitely freaking out with Maria and what was going on with her!! Then the events that happened at the Brownstone had me totally freaking out but I crossed my fingers that Tony would be able to get out of his own situation and come blazing in for the rescue!
The end was so awesome and I loved the very end and where everyone ended up and of course Janet’s news!!
I really hope the author adds more books in the series – maybe give Michael a book next!! – By Rebecca
