Manhattan is a stand-alone, small town, country romance in the Becker Brothers Series. Everyone knows not to fall in love with your best friend. But when your best friend is Michael Becker, it’s impossible not to.He’s everything our town knows a Becker brother to be: devastatingly handsome, charming as a thief, and the icing on the cake — a sentimental musician who’s never without his guitar. And … who’s never without his guitar.
And he was mine. At least, that’s what I’d convinced myself.
Our bond was born in elementary school, strengthened by circumstance and the promise to always be there for each other, no matter what. And the best thing about my life was being friends with Michael Becker.
Until it was the worst.
I watched him fall in love with someone else, and helped patch him back up when she left him behind. But when he drops the bomb that he’s moving to New York, I realize it’s my last chance to tell him how I feel. And I ask him to make one more promise.
One summer. One list of adventures to remind him that our small town has more to offer than memories of the girl who left him behind.
One last chance to tell him I’m in love with him.
And I’m just dumb enough to believe that maybe he could love me, too.

This is my first book read by Kandi Steiner. Manhattan is the third book in the series Becker Brothers by Kandi Steiner. This is amazing friends to lovers romance. I always loved this kind of romance.
Manhattan is the story of Michael Becker and Kylie Nelson. They have been best friends since they were eight years old. Their friendship was special from the beginning because Kylie’s mother died in the same year as Michael’s father. Their friendship lasted for ten years but Kyle always loved Michael more than a friend.
She always hoped that Michael will see her more than a friend until Michael fall in love with another girl, Bailey.
Bailey left Michael a year ago and he felt lost for a long time, so decided to move to New York and begin again in a new city where he can forget a Bailey. Kylie couldn’t see her life without Michael and for that, she has a plan to make Michale fall in love again with their hometown and … with her.
They spent time together and Michael slowly realizes that he falls in love with his best friend, the girl who was always there for him and the girl who helped him to come back to himself.
It was amazing to see Michael fall in love with Kylie and to see that the wishes of Kylie come true. I loved Kylie because she always hoped that Michael will love her and she didn’t give on him and his friendship.
“You’re my girl, Kylie,” he whispered. “You always have been. And as long as that’s still true, I know everything will be okay.
4.5 sparkling stars
Even if I haven’t read the other two books in the series, I knew I was in for a great read.
The story is so good and has so much emotion and beautiful moments within the pages.
Childhood friend to lovers, heartbreaking life moments they go through together, first love and firsts everything in the adult life.
It’s angsty in a great way, it’s sweet and it will fill your heart with love and hope.
So I’m a sucker for a small town romance with friends to lovers aspect. This one is one of the best! It was clear to see the closeness of the friendship between Kylie and Michael. They were inseparable and bonded over the loss of a parent. It was a sweet moment with them. Kylie has become a part of the family and has grown up in a remarkable woman. She truly has the best at heart. She wants to make everyone but herself happy. She will go out of her way to make someone day better. Her and Michael kinda hit a speed bump in their friendship. A girl came between them and hearts were hurt. This is when things get interesting.. Kylie finally discovers what the family has already seen over the years and is determined to keep Michael home. She knows deep down he loves the little town and is determined to show him how much. There’s a thorn in her plan and it all comes down to the girl who broke his heart. She still has a hold on him. I felt like he never really got true closer. Yes he told her it was over and to move on but I felt like he still wasn’t a 100% over her. This was something that haunted him throughout most of the book. Kylie I can relate to a lot. I wasn’t the pretty girl, the girl who guys fought to hang out with and wanted to date. I was the ugly duckling in school and no I’m not calling Kylie ugly at all. She has changed a lot and Michael never noticed. He was in a Bailey cloud and didn’t notice all the changes. She wanted to be the girl who got the guy and the fairy tale ending. She knew what she wanted and went after it. Sure she needed some help from Betty but she did it. This was a great book with great characters you will fall in love!! My only problem was the mystery of what was on the hard drive and how his dad died… I wanted more from this!!!
“’ , , ’ , , . , , . ’ .”
From just that opening line you know you’re in for a rollercoaster ride of emotions. Manhattan, is just simply amazing, there are not enough words to describe how this book touched me and had me feeling all sorts of emotions all at the same time. I was so excited when I heard Mikey would be getting his own story after reading about the other Becker brothers. I loved Mikey as a character although I wanted to strangle him at times for not seeing what’s directly in front of him but by the end I ended up falling in love with yet another Becker brother. Kylie is the best heroine I can think of for Mikey, the way she wants to help everyone but is also spunky in her own way and determined to get what she wants, she’s just so likable. I was rooting for Kylie throughout the book to get her HEA with her best friend. This book had me laughing, crying, cursing and wishing it would never end by the time I read the final sentence. Thank you Kandi Steiner for writing yet another fabulous book and I can’t wait until Jordan’s story comes out!! Thank you @socialbutterfly_pr for the ARC!
I was absolutely counting the days for Mikey Becker’s story. I’m in love with them Becker boys and I couldn’t wait to read about our eighteen year old, sweet faced baby Becker boy who’s high school sweetheart, Bailey Baker, up and left to go to Nashville to become the next big country music sensation. Leaving our precious Michael behind and heartbroken. Mikey is sensitive and sweet. He’s plays the guitar, but if you’ve read Neat you know what happens with that a little.
The whole breakup, It’s was too much and he needs to get out of this town of Stratford, so he announces he’s moving to New York at the end of the summer after his high school graduation. Leaving his family and best friend, Kylie with jaws dropped and tears in their eyes.
Kylie Nelson has been best friends with Michael Becker since she was eight years old. Bonded by tragedy. They have been through everything together, all the awkward ups and downs of growing up. She has also been secretly longing for being more than friends for many of her teen years as well. She had to endure not only watching him meet and fall in love with Bailey Baker, but as his best friend her duty was to give advice and suggestions that required a “girls point of view.” So she sucked it up being the amazing friend she is, and helped Bailey get and then eventually hurt “her guy.”
Kylie was beautiful, and funny and giving and loving. All these things she didn’t even realize, which made me love her character even more. She had suffered a great loss just like Mikey Becker and yet she spent her life doing things for other people. The way she cared for her dad was so sweet and even when Mikey was hard to handle and being a complete turd she was there for him and his family. Two of his brothers working at the Scooter Whiskey Distillery and one as a football coach.
Mikey’s announcement shook her as much as his family. So she decided then and there that this was her shot, that finally she would put herself out there and go after what she wanted. She was going to try to make Michael remember all the things he loved the most about home, then maybe he wouldn’t leave and she would finally have her chance to be with him. Would her plan work or will it backfire? Would Mikey ever see her for more than just a friend?
I loved this slow burn, super sweet, friends to lovers romance. This story compared to the other Becker Boy’s books was more tame in the bedroom scenes and was more of a slow burn and the angst and tension between the main characters wasn’t so off the charts in your face as it was in On the Rocks and Neat. BUT, this was still just as much of a five star read for me. With Michael and Kylie’s age the slow burn and sweet bedroom scenes were perfect. Michael was so respectful and gentle with Kylie and it was written in a way that you could tell that he appreciated the gift he had been given and he would cherish it. GAH! It was the sweetest. Yes, they were young but they had built such a solid foundation with their friendship, it was inevitable they would end up together. READ THIS BOOK Y’ALL!
My cr8zysockbookblock blog wrap up for this book!
– The Becker Boys and the girls that have captured their hearts have become an obsession for me. I one-click these books so fast. I live for the family meals around Mama Becker’s table and the banter between this rowdy bunch of country boys. They’re as down home and delicious as their Mama’s cooking, and true southern gentlemen. If you haven’t met them yet you’re missing out.
– Sweetness overload! Mikey and Kylie were Sweet Love-Makin’ Perfection!
Cliffhanger Warning-No cliffhanger! This ending was EVERYTHING!
I always knew Mikey’s story would wreck me, and since he’s my absolute FAVORITE Becker brother, you can bet your behind that the overwhelming emotions that pours out of this young man will have you all in your feelings. And my gosh, it was magnificent.
If you’ve read the two previous books in the series, you know that Mikey has had his heart broken by the one girl he thought would always treasure it. When his ex girlfriend Bailey decided to uproot their lives and leave sooner than they planned on, and without him, Michael became a shell of the person he once was. I’m sure each and everyone of us remembers our first heartbreak, and the crippling pain that came with it, and my heart just shattered for him. He lost faith in absolutely everything, and all he wanted to do was get away from the town that reminded him of the girl he could never forget.
This enters Kylie, who has been Mikey’s best friend since the tender age of eight years old, and is determined to make him realize that everything he used to love about his life and this town is still there — and that one idiotic girl didn’t take away eighteen years of memories and happiness when she left. Although Kylie has a secret that’s been killing her to keep– She is so in love with him, and hopes that at the end of the summer he will feel the same way about her..and that he won’t move to Manhattan.
I loved, loved, LOVED Kylie. Her selfless nature, her big heart, the way she would bend over backwards to help those in need, the way she was there for Mikey, even when he pushed her aside because Bailey was threatened by her (I really didn’t like her if you couldn’t tell.. ) she was always there for the people she loved, even if they didn’t always deserve it. So when she comes up with a plan to make Mikey fall back in love with his hometown, and fall in love with her, I so hoped that the boy with the broken heart wouldn’t break hers.
Even though Mikey was an idiot at times (I mean he’s eighteen..It’s bound to happen) I still comepltley adored him even more in this book. I loved that even though he was so young, he was so intune with his emotions, and felt everything so deeply. And when he realised FINALLY that Kylie was more than just his old pal, and that she was the one that he should have given his heart too all along, I jumped for joy. There is something so damn heartwarming about a friends to lovers romance, and this book handles all that comes with it so perfectly. From finally addressing their feelings, to the first kiss, the first time their intimate, the first fight, the first true heartbreak.. It was all handled just so beautifully.
I also really loved that even though Kylie loved Mikey, she also wouldn’t be second best. She knew her worth and would never settle for having less than she deserved. She was the perfect balance of compassion and strength, and I just comepltley adored her.
The interactions with all the brothers is also another favorite of mine in these novels: they are all so different, but their bond is truly something else. Even with them trying to uncover the mysterious surroundings of their fathers death, these men band together around their mom, and the women they love so beautifully. Also, Mama Becker is my all time favorite. The advice she gives each of her son’s is truly perfect!! And of course we still have Miss Betty to keep us entertained! 😉
The ending of this book was beyond perfect.. I always love it when the male lead goes above and beyond to let his lady love know exactly how he feels about her, and Mikey’s grand gesture was no exception. Words can’t express just what this book meant to me, but it’s honestly my all time favorite Kandi Steiner book so far.
And let’s talk about that cover:: that alone made me want to buy the paperback so I can just stare at it.. It’s so, so beautiful!! Even if you haven’t read the previous books (which you should) go read this as soon as you can!! It will make you remember the power of love, and how your first love can be your last. Mine was! 🙂
**I I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions!!**
I can’t get enough of the Becker brother and this series! Kandi deliveries a series filled with love, great characters and really heartwarming family moments. This story follows Michael “Mikey” and Kylie who have been best friend’s for as long as they could basically remember. After a terrible break up, Michael decides he needs changes in his life and he decides that he needs to move to NYC to make a new life for himself. Kylie has always been in love with him, long before he had a new girl in his life. Now that the Ex is out of the picture and Kylie finally has her Michael back in her life, she needs him to realize how much he loves everything about home. This story was the best kind of friends to lovers romance, Kylie and Michael very absolutely perfect for each other. They both understand what it’s like to lose someone very important to them, they both are extremely close to their families, they are both caring and they both have undeniable chemistry and love for each other.
Friends to lovers trope, check. Slow burn, check. A fun read with lots to love, check!
Manhattan is the story of Mikey, one of the Becker brothers, and Kylie, his best friend since childhood. They share so much, except for the fact that Kylie has been in love with Mikey for a long time. He is fresh off having his heart broken and is ready to leave town. Kylie wants to remind him of all their town has to offer and makes a list to show him.
The bond between Mikey and Kylie was so strong and their evolution from friends to more was well done. I liked the concept of it being one last chance for Kylie to show him what there is to love about the town and also what a great match she’d be for him.
Kandi Steiner is a fairly new to me author, but I really enjoyed her writing style. It kept me engaged and interested in the characters and their story.
Thank you to the author for providing an ARC for an honest review.
This is the third installment in the Becker Brothers series and is a standalone but you won’t want to miss out on the previous two books. Michael is the youngest of four brothers and so clueless to how his best friend Kylie feels about him. He is blind to her feelings but she’s been there for him since they were 8 years old and stood by his side when the love of his life shattered his heart. Michael plans to move to New York after the summer post high school graduation and Kylie is determined to make her feelings for him known through a last ditch effort to show Michael how much he loves their hometown, hoping he falls in love with her too. The angst is super high in this one and Kandi is so good and smashing your heart to pieces then making it all worth the ride in the end. I love the way this story unfolded between Kiley and Mikey and the moment he realizes that she’s more than just the kid he grew up with and is now a woman is one of the best in the book. You may want to strangle Mikey throughout the entire book because he is most definitely an idiot when it comes to the love that’s been right in front of his eyes but his redemption is the absolute best. Be sure to have tissue and a bottle of whiskey to get through the angst!
A heart wrenching read that will give you all the feels you desire in a good romance. This third book in the Becker Brothers series was such a great read – I couldn’t put it down once I started reading it. Even if you haven’t read the first two books in this series, you will still enjoy reading this book, although you really don’t want to miss the other books.
Like most of Kandi Steiner’s readers, I waited anxiously for Manhattan, the story of Michael Becker, the youngest Becker brother, and Kylie Nelson, his long-time best friend. And just as I expected, it did not disappoint.
Through Kandi’s beautiful writing, I could feel Michael’s heartbreak as he suffered through the loss of his high school girlfriend, and his healing as Kylie knit those broken pieces back together. I wanted to throttle him many times, and then throw my arms around Kylie.
This is a tale you won’t want to miss. It’s got plenty of Kandi’s trademark angst, sprinkled with the perfect blend of humor and pathos. I loved it!
I really can’t get enough of Kandi Steiner’s stories. From start to finish they hold me captive, delivering real stories, feeling and circumstances. This author puts her heart and soul into every story that she writes, I feel them deeply.
This is the third book in the Becker Brother’s series, Manhattan a friend to lovers set in a small town in Tennessee. I absolutely love this family along with all of the secondary characters.
This is Mickey’s story the youngest Becker brother. We know from the previous stories that his high school girlfriend Bailey and him were going to move to Nashville as soon as they graduate. Instead Bailey decided that she was going on her own leaving Mickey heartbroken. In comes Kylie his best friend since they were eight years old. They had not seen each other much for the last several years as Bailey did not like it. They bonded when at eight years old and within a few months difference she lost her Mom and he lost his Dad.
Kylie’s plan is to show Mickey all the reasons why he loved his small town and why staying wouldn’t be a bad thing. She is the best kind of heroine so kind, a little shy and not experienced. She has the best heart always doing the kindest things for ones that she loves!! She is determined to heal Mickey and start a list of things to do. Mickey was a little selfish in the beginning but he proved to be a great hero for our heroine
The adventure that Kylie leads Mickey on does not always go the way that she wants them to go but it is so fun to get to experience some of them. I did want to thump Mickey a few times. There were a few times that my heart broke for Kylie.
If you love small town friends to lover story this is just that story for you!! Oh and some of the best characters, new ones and returning ones from previous books!!

Kandi’s storytelling married the beauty of friendship with more than in this book.
I adored Kylie. She was relatable and lovable. I loved how she brought out the best in Mikey. I loved being immersed in the world of the Becker Family. It is a special place and one I could read about forever.
*** FIVE STAR REVIEW ***
QUEEN KANDI REIGNS AGAIN!!
Yet again Kandi KILLS it with the third book in the Becker brother series. Haven’t read On the Rocks or Neat? No problem. But read them ALL I assure you, you will not be disappointed.
Manhattan is the third book in this series and we get to really delve into the life of the youngest Becker brother, Mikey. Mikey, Mikey Mikey. Why are you a silly little boy?! “I am always here to catch you” while winking?!? Do you know what that does to a lady who is deeply in love?
I will be honest, Mikey drives me nuts! While driving me nuts, he earned his spot as my favorite Becker brother with this book. Mikey is love sick and heart broken but equally as dumb as a bag of hammers when it comes to the love staring him in the face. It didn’t take as long as I expected for him to realize what he had standing in front of him. However, the internal struggle he had drove me crazy. Each time he was faced with the reality of his ex Bailey, I wanted to SHAKE THE HECK OUT OF THAT BOY.
The leading lady, sweet sweet Kylie, oh my goodness. I just LOVED HER. She was so unapologetically herself. Other than Betty convincing her to strip down to a bikini for a minute (which hello, worked like a charm!) she did not concern herself with how she appeared to anyone. She was equal parts naive and experienced in life’s tragedies. She is strong and knows how to be strong for others. She crushed me, her emotional truth rocked my world. I felt everything that Kylie felt and my heart is still so overwhelmed with emotion since reading it.
The dynamic between Kylie and Mikey is unmatched. Mikey’s relationship with Kylie’s father, as well as Kylie’s relationship with Mikey’s entire family felt so intimate and real. The way in which Kandi wrote this story hits so deep that you can’t help but feel the realness and become emotional in their challenges and triumphs. She absolutely nailed the friends to lovers trope with the way she wrote their history and developed their characters. I can’t wait to reread this entire series.
