Manhattan is a stand-alone, small town, country romance in the Becker Brothers Series. Everyone knows not to fall in love with your best friend. But when your best friend is Michael Becker, it’s impossible not to.He’s everything our town knows a Becker brother to be: devastatingly handsome, charming as a thief, and the icing on the cake — a sentimental musician who’s never without his guitar. And … who’s never without his guitar.
And he was mine. At least, that’s what I’d convinced myself.
Our bond was born in elementary school, strengthened by circumstance and the promise to always be there for each other, no matter what. And the best thing about my life was being friends with Michael Becker.
Until it was the worst.
I watched him fall in love with someone else, and helped patch him back up when she left him behind. But when he drops the bomb that he’s moving to New York, I realize it’s my last chance to tell him how I feel. And I ask him to make one more promise.
One summer. One list of adventures to remind him that our small town has more to offer than memories of the girl who left him behind.
One last chance to tell him I’m in love with him.
And I’m just dumb enough to believe that maybe he could love me, too.

My heart wasn’t quite ready for the swoony slow burn that Manhattan was but I loved every emotion-filled moment. Kylie and Mikey’s story was simply beautiful, heartbreaking yet gave me all the butterflies in my stomach feels. I laughed, screamed, ranted, shed a few tears and swooned like crazy. As much as I wanted to shake some sense into Mikey along the way I enjoyed how things slowly began to fall into place in spite of everything. Kylie was such a kind hearted, generous and truly amazing young woman that I couldn’t help but root hard for along her journey. If you love angsty best friend to lovers slowburns with a mix of small town romance Manhattan may be just the next read you need.

5 Stars!
This is my hands down favorite of all of the Becker brothers so far. The love story between Kylie and Michael is sweet, touching, full of angst, a touch of drama, some unrequited love and of course a dash of a boy making some bad choices. All in all, I loved every second of this story. Kandi knows exactly how to write a love story that will melt your heart. I can’t wait for the next one!
A beautiful story of unrequited love, friendship, a friends to lovers story filled with heartwarming and moving moments.
I haven’t read the previous books in this series and didn’t need to, Manhattan is a standalone but does interlink with other books, there is also a theme running through this book where Mikey Becker and his brothers are still trying to discover how their father died and Kylie helps them crack the code on a laptop of their fathers but you still don’t get the answer to what the oldest brother finds, this I presume is in the next book and I would love to not only read previous books but the next one too.
Kandi Steiner’s writing is easy to read, has ups and downs, contains beautiful and interesting characters, for a Small town romance this is a must-read.
Mikey Becker and Kylie Nelson have been best friends since they were eight years old, Kylie has been there for him as he has her. Kylie had just lost her mother and Mikey lost his father when they first met. Kylie through the years has been his constant, secretly falling in love with him until he fell for a girl that wasn’t her and then she was there two years later to pick up the pieces when his girlfriend left town for the highlights as a singer leaving him behind broken-hearted.
Mikey and Kylie’s story is heartbreaking, heartwarming and beautiful. I loved it and would highly recommend this as a book you can get lost in, a book you can curl up with on a cold winters day, or any day for that matter and enjoy the journey with these characters, through their ups and downs that leads to an adorable hea.
It was a treat every time I pick up a Kandi Steiner book. As per usual, I patiently waited until the weekend before I dare to dive into Manhattan because I knew I would be totally consumed and rendered useless to the world once I started. This bittersweet slow-burning friends to lovers romance didn’t disappoint and gave me all the feels. There were no twisty drama or life/death moments, yet this book had simply captured my heart with beautiful words and realistic characters that evoked an abundance of emotions in me. I laughed, I cried, I got frustrated, and I swooned throughout the entire book. Mikey and Kylie’s story was pure and heartfelt and I loved every minute of it.
Mikey, the youngest of the Becker brother, was young, heartbroken and lost. My heart ached for him; losing your first love was definitely painful. It was grateful that he had a loving mom, supportive brothers and an selfless best friend, Kylie. Kylie was a beautiful soul. I felt awful that she was in love with her best friend but he was oblivious of her affection. I admired her strength and determination to help Mikey find his true self before he made a life changing decision. I loved the dynamics between the couplethey were candid, natural and real. There were no awkwardness when they shifted from friends to lovers, only righteousness.
As for the ongoing side plot within the series, we moved forward a little in solving the mystery of the Becker father’s death. Jordan might be the key to solve the great mystery and I’m so excited for his book that would be coming up next.
It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of Kandi Steiner. She has the gift of using her words to make me feel the love, the pain, the longing, the sweetness, and the joy of romance. If you haven’t read any work from Kandi, start with the Becker Brothers series and you’ll not be disappointed.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance complimentary copy of this book. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
This is book 3 of the Becker Brothers and it didn’t disappoint! It’s my favorite of the 3 books even though I loved them all! Mikey Becker is finally getting his book! Mikey and Kylie have been friends since they were kids. You’ll love their story. It’s full of feels. Friends to lovers is my favorite and this one didn’t disappoint! Kandi Steiner has done it again! She never disappoints!!!
I love friends to lovers books and I have to say that this is now one of my absolute favorites! Kylie and Mikey’s story hooked me from the very beginning. I couldn’t decide between reading faster or trying to draw it out because I honestly didn’t want the book to end. I cannot recommend this book enough! I only wish that I could give it more than 5 stars!!
Absolutely amazing! The Becker brothers’ stories keep getting better and better. This time is was little brother Michael’s book. It was friends to lovers done SO well.
I FLOVED Kylie. I think she’s my favorite aside from Mallory.
Can’t wait for the final book!
As children Michael and Kylie were best friends who were by each others side through all the tragedy and turmoil of their youth but things began to change in high school. Michael started dating Bailey and he believed that she was his destiny and had their lives planned out until she left to live their dreams without him and he was left devastated.
Michael has always been the man that Kylie has loved. She was saddened by the fact that when Michael started dating Bailey that she was a less important part of his life but she believed that they would always end up together. Now that he is single once again Kylie is determined to show him that not only does he belong in town but that he belongs with her as well.
These two characters were great together as Kylie is resolute that her future is Michael and once Michael acknowledged his feelings for Kylie he was all in. Their journey is definitely not without emotion and angst but that only made the outcome that much more sweeter.
I have enjoyed all of this author’s previous stories that is why it took a while to write this review. This review is based on my personal opinions and preferences.
This is part of a series. Kylie and Michael have been best friends for a long time. Michael suffered a heartbreak and has never been the same since. Now Kylie must convince him that giving her a chance is what he needs. She has been in love with him for a long time.
This story was more YA then anything. Which is fine but I couldn’t feel anything for Michael. I need to connect with my characters but for some odd reason I couldn’t feel for him.
Told in a dual POV with an HEA.
4.5 stars!
I have enjoyed Kandi Steiner’s Becker Brother Series, and it’s overarching mystery, so much! Manhattan was the youngest brother Mikey’s story, taking place the summer after he and his best friend Kylie graduate from high school. Friends to lovers stories are my catnip, and Manhattan was a perfect escape from a long week. Both main characters had dealt with difficult losses and it was so touching to see how they helped each other through their pain as they grew up. The author took me on such an emotional journey, but it was so sweet at the same time. I cannot wait for brother Jordan’s story next!
Yet again, Kandi has written another book that does not disappoint. Mikey and Kylie’s relationship will give you all the feels. You’ll cheer for them, be mad at them and cry with them. At times you’ll want to yell at them. Their relationship and feelings are so relatable. If you are a fan of best friends to lovers then you will not want to miss this one. And who doesn’t like a little mystery mixed in with a romance story?
This may be my favorite in the Becker Brothers series – you have great friends to lovers romance that is filled with wonderful characters and a great story. Kylie and Mikey are a couple you will route for and the pay off is fantastic. Ms Steiner does it again with a great romance that you wont be able to put down.
Those Becker Boys! Those kind-hearted, fun-loving Mama’s boys that can and will make any woman swoon.
Mikey, the youngest of the Becker boys is heartbroken. His ex left . . . she just up and left without him. All the plans and promises were for naught. She left and didn’t take him with her.
Kylie has always been there. Through the good, the bad and the ugly. That’s because she has always loved him. That’s because they are a kindred spirit.
I absolutely loved this story and as always I love the way Kandi told it. I enjoyed the down to earth way she relayed this story. Her books are the abnormal reads of normal people. How she can get into the soul of the character and drag you into the virtual reality of her mind makes her one of my automatic reads. Her supporting characters have just as much life, spirit as her hero and heroine. You always feel as though they are a part of the family and not just a “supporting” character.
I am so excited for the next book in this series, Jordan!
I have wanted to read Mikey’s story since we met him in book one. The youngest of the Becker brothers is determined to leave his home town after having his heart broken. And now we meet the girl who has been there through every milestone with him the one who has his back no matter what. Kylie is also the girl who has loved him her whole life but to him she is his best friend. I loved Kylie even though I spent a large portion of the book wincing in sympathy knowing she had to watch him falling for she who will not be named broke my heart. I rejoiced when she challenged him and when she put everything on the line I admired her courage.
Kandi writes a story with such a perfect family dynamic, they may not always agree but they are always a united front to outsiders. The mystery of their fathers death is slowly unraveling with each book I have my theories but who knows I’m probably way off. Another fantastic addition to this series and now I wait for the next one.
What a wonderful addition to a series that I have totally loved so far!! Mikey and Kylie’s friends-to-lovers story in Manhattan was an absolute roller coaster. So many emotions. So many hard lessons. So many beautiful moments. These two know each other better than anyone else. Too bad that Mikey is totally blind to his best friend’s emotions. Watching these two finally connect emotionally was so sweet, so funny and totally entertaining! But bumps remained in their path to a happy beginning (because let’s face it they are still in the beginning of their lives). Regardless of the bumps these two endure, their families are there to give them the swift kicks they needed. I can’t wait to see what happens next in Old Fashioned with Jordan!!
Manhattan is the best book of the Becker Brothers so far. The writing was what I expect from Kandi Steiner and I was engrossed in this story from start to finish. Kylie has a heart of freaking gold. She’s quirky and is so giving to those she loves and even to people she doesn’t know. I loved that she stuck by Michael through his hardships even if he didn’t deserve her friendship or her love at times. From the previous two books in this series, we know Michael isn’t in the best place in his life. He’s clearly loss and I honestly hate how things fell into place for him and Kylie. His feelings were all over the place from the beginning considering he hadn’t healed from the past. Their situation had “bad idea” written all over it but Kylie’s character is so infectious that you want things to work out for her no matter what. It was sweet watching her try to bring Michael back to life. She’s the type of friend that everyone should have. I loved that Kandi included so many memories from Michael and Kylie’s past. It definitely shows close these two are. They’re truly meant for each other and I was here for it!
Beautiful, swoon worthy best friends to lovers romance that I devoured in one sitting! This is my favorite book by this author so far!!
Michael Becker is an idiot! He doesn’t deserve Kylie! Best friends since they were eight y/o, they mourned together the loss of a parent (Michael’s dad and Kylie’s mom). They’ve been glued together for years until sophomore year when Michael falls in love with Bailey Baker. Due to Bailey’s jealousy, Michael shoves his bestie to the side until Bailey dumps him two years later. They had plans to move to Nashville where they would pursue a music career, but she left him to pursue her dreams on her own and left him behind. Depressed and devastated, Kylie rushed to his side to give him support, and what does he do? Behave like a jackass, that’s what.
Right after high school graduation, Michael announced to his family that he’s moving to New York. The news hits the Becker family like a tornado. Kylie has been in love with Mikey for years and this news devastates her. She’s determined to show him everything he loved about their town but it all backfires and turns into disaster. All her good efforts end badly and he lashes out at her. Her plan to make him see her and maybe love her seems to be misfiring.
We’ve met Mikey in the previous Becker brothers’ books. He’s the one who works at the Scooter Whiskey gift shop and charms all the tourists. We all know he’s a great guy and a great son. All the Becker boys get together on Sundays at their mother’s house for lunch and they take turns dancing with her “Wonderful Tonight” by Eric Clapton. It was their parents wedding song and it brings joy to Mrs. Becker to dance it with her sons. They are a tightly knit family, and all miss their father who lost his life in a fire under suspicious circumstances in the Scooter Whiskey Distillery. Kylie is the one who is trying to crack the password of their father’s laptop, to see if they find clues on what happened.
I loved the family togetherness, the loyalty, Kylie’s strong caring personality. She volunteers all her free time at the elderly home and takes very good care of her father. After she lost her mom, it was Kylie who took care of her father, who lost himself after his loss, instead of him taking care of Kylie. She’s a giver, selfless, and caring. And where Mikey is regarded, a little bit of a doormat. Eventually she realizes she deserves more and starts to fight back and that’s when Mikey starts to wake up from the stupor he was in.
I felt that Mikey wasn’t fair to Kylie, and that maybe he didn’t have enough time to mourn his lost relation and move on to another one. Maybe Kylie wanted too much too soon from Mikey. Their story was a little bumpy but always with lots of love, the family kind, the friendly kind, and much later, the sexy kind. I loved reading the book because I’ve been loving this family but I wasn’t very happy with Mikey.
The intrigue with Mr. Becker continues and I hope is resolved with next book, Jordan’s. He’s the eldest Becker brother, and the adopted one. It promises to be intriguing!
What is not to love about this series!? Family. Small town. Best friends. Sassy older friend. Little bit of mystery. Adventure. These are the best kind of stories, where you get glimpses of characters we love from previous books. I can’t wait for book 4!
Kandi Steiner is one of my favorite authors and this is why. This book was soooo good! I can’t determine which Becker brother is my favorite, I love them all! Michael Becker is the youngest and is determined to move away away he gets his heart broken. Kylie is his best friend and asks him to stay the summer, to let her remind him why he loves their small town, to tell him that she’s always been in love with him. I love friends to lovers and this one was one of my favorites. So many feels in this book! This series is just everything. These characters are everything! I’m ready to read Jordan’s story, but I’m not ready for this series to end!
