Ali Reynolds returns in this suspenseful thriller featuring New York Times bestselling author J.A. Jance’s signature “fast pacing, surprising plot twists, and a strong, principled heroine” (Booklist).Cybersecurity expert Roger McGeary finally has his life back on track after years of struggling with depression. But when he falls from the balcony of his suite on an all-expenses-paid cruise, the … all-expenses-paid cruise, the police quickly dismiss it as an accident. Unsatisfied, Roger’s tough-as-nails aunt, Julia Miller, is determined to find answers and closure. By contacting Roger’s childhood friend Stuart Ramey to help her solve the mystery of his fate, Julia unwittingly sets up a collision course with a serial killer.
Stuart, his sidekick Cami Lee, and journalist-turned-amateur-sleuth Ali Reynolds put the full resources of cutting edge online security firm High Noon Enterprises into learning the truth about Roger’s death. With Cami on the high seas investigating the ship from which Roger disappeared, Stuart stays tied to his computer, locked in a battle of wits and technology against an unusually twisted adversary. When the heartless killer sets sights on Stuart, High Noon must race against time to save him and countless others.

J.A. Jancr’s books are always a pleasure to read. In Man Overboard IA , bulling, cyber security and what happens when computers can think for themselves are all explored. The characters are all wonderfully flawed.
I have read several books in this series, so I do have expectations and was not disappointed. Great read, suspenseful page turner and one of my favorite authors.
Jances latest Ali Reynolds mystery is a page turner and one of those really hard to put down mysteries. The inclusion of an AI created by a serial killer is an interesting twist. This is a very interesting and enjoyable book.
Typical Jance, holds you until the end.
I have loved every book written by J. A. Jance that I have read. I just got two more from the library and think this may finish my list. Highly recommend.
It was OK, but not one of her better ones.
All of her books are good reads.
I typically like J. A. Jance mysteries, especially the Beaumont series set in Seattle, but this one was not particularly engaging. It takes well-drawn characters to drive a mystery when we already know who the perpetrator is, but these people were not especially compelling, with the possible exception of Stu Ramey. Mildly engaging, this book may be interesting for cyber security/AI aficionados, but not, perhaps, for the rest of us.
A frightening idea.
What friendship is all about ..thought provoking life of AI?
I really enjoyed
Jance is simply a favorite writer of mine!
I love JAJance books but didn’t finish this one. Gave it 1/4 of the book then quit. I’m sure all the characters would come together at some point Not not quick enough
I like most of J. A. Jance’s books, especially those with Joanna Brady and Ali Reynolds. This one involves Ali and some state of the art hacking technology to push people over the edge, high-tech cyber bullying. I look forward to picking it up and resuming, as with most of her books, regret having finished it.
Always a good read. Page turner.
I really like JAJance and had really already read this and forgotten it. It’s not quite as much up my alley as a few of her other characters. I love computers and all that world, but this seemed a bit more fantastical than real. Perhaps that’s why I forgot I read it the first time. I checked “wonderful characters”…meaning SOME of them!
Always enjoy JA Jance books. Characters are like family.
Noy enough of Ali and B. Story centers around Stuart Ramey. Surprise ending, as Jance always delivers.
