He puts the “screw” in screwball comedy…BRYNNAt thirty-four, I’m reeling from a divorce. I don’t want to party or try to move on. I just want to stay home and post a new recipe on my blog: Brynn’s Dips and Balls. But my friends aren’t having it. Get out there again, they say. It will be fun, they say. I’m still taking a hard pass. Free designer cocktails, they say. And that’s a game-changer. Too … pass.
Free designer cocktails, they say. And that’s a game-changer.
Too bad my ex shows up with his new arm candy. That’s when I lose my mind. But when my besties dare me to leap on the first single man I see, they don’t expect me to actually go through with it.
TOM
All I need right now is some peace and quiet while my home renovation TV show is on hiatus. But when a curvy woman in a red wrap dress charges me like she’s a gymnast about to mount my high bar, all I can do is brace myself and catch her. What follows is the hottest experience of my adult life.
I want a repeat, but my flying Cinderella disappears immediately afterward. She doesn’t leave a glass slipper, either—just a pair of panties with chocolate bunnies printed on them.
But I will find her.
My face literally hurts from smiling. About That Story
It’s FUNNY!! I mean, really funny. My whole body shook, trying to suppress my laughter made me snort and I accidentally doinked myself on the head with my kindle. Stacy is Sassy
ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS. I need more from Sarina Bowen and Tanya Eby already! Booklovers for Life
This is such an amazing story! I laughed, I cried, and devoured the pages. Kitty’s Book Spot

I laughed out loud, it’s worth the read.
I haven’t laughed out loud this much while reading a book in a long time. It is hysterical and hilarious. But the story is cute and engaging too.
This was an absolute laugh riot full of so much heart! I couldn’t get enough. My face hurt from smiling so big! This was just the best!
Oh My Life, I haven’t laughed this hard in so long! I really needed it too. Thank you Sarina and Tanya, I absolutely loved this book.
Brynne is recently divorced and jaded. She attends a party with her girls, Ash and Sadie and spots her ex with his new woman. What do her friends do? Naturally they tell her to run and kiss the next guy that makes eye contact. Cue Tom, Mr Fixit Quick from a renovation show. She jumps at him, snogs the face of him and the hilarity comes at us full force.
I can’t even count the number of times I got the side eye from hubby because I was snort laughing out loud.
Along with the funnies there is heat that will melt your skin off.
Sarina and Tanya are a power couple in rom com writing and you can’t help but love their characters. The girl gang is strong in this one. The guy is not just a ripped handyman but swoon worthy too and totally in love with the curvy foodie, Brynne.
If you are looking for a book that will have you laughing out loud as well as getting you all hot and bothered, this is the book for you.
3.5
I have had this one in my kindle app for a long time, and have been wanting to get to it well before now. I have read a few books of SB’s before but TE is new to me.
It’s a quick romcom, that is slightly quirky and a little bit silly but definitely lighthearted. Brynn and Tom may have had disastrous relationships previously, but it was full steam ahead when they first met.
I’m not sure if it was due to the collaboration, but a couple of things seem to be overlooked, like who was in the boathouse with Tom and Brynn that first night with a camera? Did she ever go back to the new college, or worked solely on her cooking blog and with Tom’s production company? If it was a live show at the end, how do you add an email address later to the screen she was pointing at? Little inconsistencies like these distract me off the import stuff at times but I still enjoyed this first book. I loved the connection between Tom and Brynn, it felt real and full of life. Even though it was a somewhat over the top, it won’t stop me from reading book two, which I’m hoping is toned down a bit.
I laughed so hard! Like cracked up laughing. loved the story. loved the narration. loved it all.
*4 Stars*
ARC kindly received in exchange for an honest review.
When a book starts off with the the sentence “What you need is to be fucked” – now thats an immediate attention getter. I knew immediately that this book was going to be fun.
I certainly wasn’t wrong. Fresh off of a divorce, and with plenty of self doubt and then some serious dares/courage from her friends, Brynn finds herself in the arms of Tom, the famous TV personality with his own TV show.
This launches into a really fun storyline with plenty of funny inner-dialogue when it comes to both main characters. Tom is a really sweet guy and very manly which is awesome for his level of attractiveness.
Brynn is a very relatable character, even if personally, I have never been married or divorced. I think a lot of people will relate to her, particularly those who have gone through a marriage breakdown.
There are a lot of fun moments in this story and both main characters learning about themselves, particularly Brynn. The storyline flows and the ending was really fun.
Theres also enough said and enough interest piking information about Brynns best friends, that I’m hoping they get their own books too.
Enjoyed this one, it was a fast and easy read. Would recommend.
FUNNIEST READ EVER!!!!!
O.M.F.G my sides and jaw hurt from all the smiling and laughing I did throughout this entire read!
I loved everything about it.
Everyone needs to listen to this ASAP!!!
The Narration was perfection!
This is adorable! Love these two and their friends! Each has had a previous bad relationship. So they are leery but are pushed into something. Brynn is amazing and fun! I love her side job. Tom is a dream guy! I mean who doesn’t love man hands! He sounds so dreamy and perfect! I wish he would have given up some of his background. Then the way he handled himself on the Mr Fixit job was impressive!
I love the ending with Ash and Brot. Ha ha it REALLy wants me to read their story!
I did listen to this on audio. The narrators did a great job! I am looking for more!
One of my absolute favorite books of 2017 was Man Hands so I was beyond excited for Man Card.
While Man Card was hilarious, I felt like it had more emotion than Man Hands. There were definitely points that I was laughing so hard that I couldn’t read the screen but there were also parts that I was tearing up and devastated. Ash and Braht have been through a lot and the people they show on the outside don’t even come close to showing how deep their characters run. I love a good enemies to lovers story and this book hit all of the things that I love about this trope. Arguments, fiery passion, one-upmanship, and competition. Ash and Braht were absolutely perfect for each other, even if it felt like it took them forever to figure it out. I lost hours of sleep on this book and every single second of that was worth it.
I LOVE this series so much and I can’t wait to see what’s up next!!
So, I’ve read The Ivy Years and loved Sarina Bowen’s writing style. She is able to bring her characters to life and then make the reader part of those lives. I knew that I wouldn’t be getting the same type of book with Man Hands. I wasn’t really sure how well I’d like her writing a rom-com (with emphasis on “com”). Well, let me tell you, she didn’t disappoint. I started laughing on page one and yukked it up throughout the entire story. It was exactly what I needed.
If you’re looking for a light-hearted story with wonderful characters and lots of laughs you really need to check this one out!
Brynn is recently divorced and is still down in the dumps over it. Her friends drag her to a party where she sees her ex with a younger skinnier girl and she looses it. She find the first man that she sees and jumps on him. Literally. Brynn thinks that he is the gardener but boy was she wrong, he is Tom Spanner, famous reality star on a home improvement show. When a sex tape is leaked Tom asks Brynn to fake a relationship to save both of their careers (she is an English professor looking for a new job) and while she is hesitant she agrees because she really needs a new job. Let the hilarity begin.
Let me start by saying that I laughed my butt off the entire time I was reading this book. I had just finished beta reading a haunting book so this was a great change of pace to pull me out of that world. BUT it was just too ridiculous. I felt like the authors were trying too hard to make it funny – yes it worked and I laughed a ton but it just wasn’t realistic to me especially when it came to Tom’s inner ramblings. Despite that there was a lot that I liked about this book. Loved when Brynn was interacting with her friends – the three of them together are epic. I liked the way their love story played out and that she didn’t doubt him when she spent the whole book feeling insecure and less than. I loved how much Tom adored Brynn and all her quirks. Ridiculous and funny book that I would recommend if you are looking for a good laugh.
Hilarious and sweet with lots of heat!
I love Sarina and her books so I knew I would enjoy this. This duo of Sarina and Tanya is electric! I haven’t laughed this hard or loud in a long time! Not only is Man Hands hilarious, it’s sexy as sin. Sometimes it’s even downright filthy. And I loved every. Single. Word. Brynn is newly divorced and her friends are forcing her to get back out there. And pick a rebound man who’s not her usual type. (I’m even giggling as I write this…). She spots a tall, sexy, man with muscles and manliness. She just doesn’t give it her all, she runs at him full force. And of course he catches her and that is the start of the effing hilarity. Every step. Every kiss. Every laugh. Every moan. Then she’s gone and he needs to find her again. There’s just something about this curvy woman with a penchant for wrap dresses. Brynn isn’t sure she wants a repeat. Why mess with a fantastic memory? But, he body can’t say no. Now Tom has a proposition for her. It’s going to help them both get what they want. What if want they want is exactly what they need? Each other? I loved this story. SO. MUCH. I was literally wiping away my tears of laughter and telling my husband exactly what was making me laugh. It was exactly what I needed! Tom is extremely sexy with his tool belt and his man hands. Brynn is so damn cute and funny. I love it when women have curves and actually eat real food! I can’t wait for Man Card!
This book just wasn’t for me.
This whole book was over the top and just plain weird. The humor felt forced. The characters were just a bit ridiculous. The hero talks to his penis? The heroine and her friends were a hot mess.
Basically, Man Hands follows Brynn, a 34-year-old woman who just got divorced. She goes out with her friends one night and decides to get back in saddle by kissing the first man she lays eyes on (I don’t suggest this tactic). She has sex with this mystery man, and like a Cinderella story, leaves something behind which the hero is able to use to find her. She doesn’t leave her shoe though, she leaves her underwear.
I do understand that its core, this book is a rom-com. Which means an unrealistic plot, humor, and interesting characters. I can forgive unoriginal plots. I mean, as long as the characters are great, who cares, right? But if the characters are ridiculous, and the humor is kind of juvenile? Not my cup of tea.
The humor was so inflated, and over the top. I could barely keep my eyes from rolling. The characters were just weird. The hero talks to his dick like it’s his friend. And his dick replys??? Brynn and her friends read like preteens and not 30-year-old adults.
I know I haven’t really said anything positive about this book, but I don’t think it was necessarily bad. It just wasn’t for me. You need to be in a certain mood and have a particular sense of humor to enjoy it.
This was just a miss for me.
Enjoyable quick read.
Great book! Very funny! I enjoyed it immensely and will definitely read other books by the same authors.
Bryn was awkward but not enough to make you uncomfortable. Just enough to be relatable. Glad she was not a 20ish, thin, got the world by the tail with her dream job kinda gal. You just wanted to keep telling her to hang in there girl, life does get better and then it is all worth it.
very well written and entertaining
This was a great read! I laughed out loud a couple of times and my family was looking at me like I was crazy. I loved the part where he felt the ground moving!
