Great story. Great characters.
This is a review for Late Bloomer, Carolyn runs into “His Hotness” at the airport on the way to visit her grandmother in Santa Fe. Her former high school English student in Gull Harbor, he was a trouble maker that made her first year difficult for her. Well he’s grown up now into a very sexy man. Carolyn wonders is it taboo to want a younger man and former student. But she doesn’t want boring Alan, her grandmother’s boyfriend’s staid balding son in his forties. And there’s no one for her back in Gull Harbor. Brody makes her happy and helps her overcome her fears. Can she trust that he’s put his playboy ways behind him? Is she willing to risk moving away from friends and a secure job in Gull Harbor to be with him? Sexy romance with lots of humorous moments.
I love every Barbara Lohr book I have read – particularly the Windy City series. The characters are always well developed. Each book in this set is a full length novel. The thread that ties these books together is the ladies belong to a book club. You will laugh, maybe cry, and be thoroughly invested in the stories of these women’s journeys to love. I was slow getting my review up and most of what I wanted to say was already said but yes, the second chances at love, the meet cute, the slightly older woman are all here. This is a wonderful set of books that will keep you entertained for hours.
I enjoyed all the characters & looked forward to how their story would unfold. Each story was different than the last one and the friendships grew within each one. I’ve already pre- ordered the next one & am looking forward to it
First thing you need to know: there are four book length stories! Very in-depth, very detailed, and lovingly intertwined stories. If you were to read them individually, they would all standalone however when they are read in this boxset, as I read them, you will find the thread that runs throughout all four books both charming and fun. At its core, it is about new friends and old, finding their way to their own versions of HEA.
The first two books, Coming Home to You and Always on His mind, are about two sisters that come “home” to Gull Harbor, from life in the big cities. Both Kate and Mercedes are running from their feelings (of things that happened in their recent pasts) and finally, in Gull Harbor, they find their destinies. Kate meets Cole, once again, and Mercedes meets Finn, once again. Their stories will grab your heart, and make you laugh, especially when you meet Priscilla.
In His Eyes, book three, Diana meets Will. I think this is the best meet-cute I’ve read in a long time! Will is a sweetheart and Diana has much to learn about herself. Together, they make a great “team”.
Late Bloomer is about Carolyn. I’ll admit I was a bit confused about this one however the author cleared it up quickly for me. It’s really kinda funny and sweet and made me laugh when she meets up with Brody. No spoilers from me!
All in all, a really good boxset that will keep you reading long into several nights!
