*A standalone Romantic Comedy * I was trying to live every woman’s dream, except my reality has been nothing but a nightmare job and a divorce at the age of thirty-two. Just when I thought things couldn’t get any worse, my ex-husband, Rick, moved in next door with his life-size Barbie doll. So, that’s been fun. Then, life pitched me a curve-ball in the form of a retired major-league baseball … major-league baseball player, Logan Grier. With his panty-dropping smile, he’s like an expertly photoshopped version of David Beckham, and he’s single. Could life be perfect after all? Of course not. As always, there had to be a catch. Logan had a secret, and I couldn’t help feeling like the truth was dangling right in front of my face.
With Rick’s daily agenda of torturing me, Logan has been an enticing distraction, despite the little fact that he’s my temporary employee. Plus, I didn’t exactly care that his flirty behavior may have been a plan to get in good with the boss. In any case, I was willing to toss a few balls with him, seeing as my playing field hadn’t had any action in over a year.
That’s when it happened…my two worlds collided. Hot temp met the ex, and a full-on bromance was born, but that’s only the beginning.
The “man flu” has come out of nowhere and hit both Logan and Rick with a virus they’re claiming to be worse than childbirth. In fact, they’re pretty sure their end is near.
Will the “man flu” be the kiss of death, or will it be my window for an opportunistic change?

Man Flu is a great funny read. Hannah is a great character. She’s divorced with a five year old. Her ex (Rick) lives next door with his barbie doll looking girlfriend (Tiana). She meets Logan when he comes into her work as her intern. Logan is not a just out of college kid. He’s a sexy hot retired baseball player Hannah and Logan have a connection. One by one they get the flu. First Hannah’s daughter, then Hannah, then Logan and Rick. Of course Rick and Logan get the man flu which seems to be worse they everybody else. I loved all the characters. They are all fun and great. I even liked Rick and Tiana. Towards the end there was a twist that I never saw coming. If you’re looking for a sweet fun read then you should check this one out.
This wonderful romance had laughing out loud so many times! Great read!
This book was hysterical!! I couldn’t put it down. Logan is such a wonderful, caring man, and yet insecure. Hannah, poor Hannah is a hot mess. She is the meaning of super mom. Between dealing with her ex-husband and his girlfriend living next door, being a mom and a full time job. And add to that everyone including herself getting sick, UGH. Hannah’s daughter, Cora, is a spitfire and funny. The things she says you can’t help but laugh. Logan and Hannah are such a wonderful couple. Highly recommend you read this book!! Thank you Shari for writing such a great laugh out loud rom-com.
Man Flu by Shari J. Ryan is my top romantic comedy of 2018! It is also on my list of all-time favorite romantic comedies! Very few writers can make me laugh like she did with this one.
Poor Hannah is tired, emotionally and physically. She is a single, working mother trying to be the best mother and trying to excel in her job. She is doing a bang up job at both, even if she is too tired to realize it. She can’t stand her ex who is just a boy in a man’s body, and she can’t escape him because he is her neighbor. If that wasn’t bad enough, his mistress lives next door as well. Her only distraction is her new temp, the hot, sexy Logan. This is where things get very, very interesting. I don’t want to say too much because I want readers to enjoy this as much as I did. Be prepared to fall in love with Logan just like I did. This guy is the whole package!
Ryan really does a great job of illustrating the challenges that single mothers face, and she does it with a whole lot of humor. At times, Hannah, is a trainwreck, but I couldn’t help but love her! Her innermost thoughts were HILARIOUS! Logan complements her so well, getting her to relax. This man is perfect! You will see what I mean once he enters Hannah’s crazy world. Cora is a doll, a spitfire. I would love to have a book about her when she gets older. She could have an entire series just written about her!
I love quirky characters, and Ryan gave us our fair share of them in this book. That was my favorite aspect of the book. It made it even more heartwarming and charming.
Ryan had my attention in her acknowledgements about her husband having the flu at the time she was writing this. Ironically, I was sick (thankfully not the flu) as I began this. As I am writing this review, I’m still not well. But just like, Hannah, I can’t be sick any longer because my teenage son has what I had, and you would think it was the end of the world. So, I can totally relate. As crazy as he makes me when he is sick, at this time next year when he is gone to college, I will miss this. Thank you, Shari J. Ryan, for a wonderful story of romance, family, friendship, parenting, and second chances. I am looking forward to reading more from this amazing writer!
4.5 Beefcake Batman Stars!
Wow, Ms Ryan delivers another hilarious, heartfelt and amazing story. Hannah is still struggling after a year, to find her footing after divorcing her cheating husband. She is a single, working mother with an adorable 5 year old mini-me, Cora. She has had the chance to date, but is not ready to put herself out there. That is until sexy, retired baseball hottie, Logan, starts working as her ‘temp’. The sparks fly between them right from the start, but everything that could go wrong, does, and then some. From her frustration to her douchebag husband and his barbi doll mistress living next door, to buttons popping at the worst time, to embarrassing projectile flu symptoms, life could not get any crazier. Hannah is unorganized, and exhausted but Logan sees her for the smart, funny, loving mother she is. But perfect Logan just might have his own flaws, which might make him perfect for her. This is a great story that is full of hilarious, real life moments, moments that have truly happened to each and every one of us. No matter how wacky and crazy the direction of this story would go, Ms Ryan would allow us to see honest and genuine reactions and emotions. I really cared for both Hannah and Logan and was cheering for them to make it thru these outrageous dilemmas. The story took some turns I didn’t see coming and kept me totally engaged to the very end. This fast paced story is filled with hilarious and embarrassing predicaments but is also heartwarming, and sweet & sexy. I definitely recommend this must read romance!
5 HILARIOUS MAN FLU STARS!! This hilarious book is just what the doctor ordered when you need a pick me up. I absolutely loved this book it is refreshing and different from my normal reads.
Logan is a former MLB star looking for a new life and Hannah is newly divorced after several years of marriage with a five year old little girl. I was laughing so hard at times I could not even see the words. I have read several books by Shari J. Ryan and this is one of my favorites. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
This is my first book by Shari, and I can guarantee you it will not be my last.
I have always loved the term MAN FLU and to have a book about it is great. This book was hilarious and I could not put it down until I finished it. I love books that show the woman in a place of power, rather than meek and in the shadows. This shows how a woman can be strong in one aspect of life and not so much in the other. I think we have all been there at one point or the other. Hannah being divorced with a 5 year old, and an ex husband who should count as another child struggles to find her place of happiness. Logan the former MLB star is looking for something he has not had in a while and seems Hannah and her life may fit the bill. I love the twists that happen in the book, it is nice not to see what is about to happen thru all the chapters.
five stars!!!!!
I received an arc from the author in exchange for an honest review, I absolutely loved man flu. Shari described the way men act when they have the flu to a tee. They act like they are dying and that it’s the end of the world. I loved Hannah and Logan. This book had some really funny moments. I loved the “man flu” part where Logan needed children’s advil because a pill would make him puke. Men are the biggest babies when they are sick. I would personally rather have 5 sick kids, then take care of 1 sick man with the flu. I think that each one of Shari’s books just keep getting better and better.
I would recommend this book to anyone that likes romantic books, but with a little laughter thrown in the mix.
Hannah is trying to succeed in a man’s world, raise her daughter, tolerate her neighbors who happen to be her cheating ex-husband and his “Barbie,” and deal with her attraction to her new temp. Throw in TWO cases of “man flu” and you have a rom com that will leaving you laughing out loud while wanting to punch “Barbie” in the nose while rolling Rick right back out the front door.
I laughed my way through this book. Even though I’m a married mom, I could still relate to Hannah. Those calls from the school nurse were 100% accurate!
When the connection between Hannah and Logan was revealed, I couldn’t help but squeal. That was the sweetest thing ever!!
