The sex is incredible (pretty sure we’ve shaken the house right off its foundation), but he can’t fool me—not this time. A degree in marketing and five years in advertising have taught me that “true love” is a fairy tale used to sell lipstick, diamonds, and perfume. It doesn’t exist. He thinks I’m wrong, and he wants to prove it.I think he’s crazy, so I dare him to try.It might be the biggest … might be the biggest mistake of my life.

This is the first book in the After We Fall series. In typical Melanie Harlow style, it’s filled with quirk, ridiculous humor, steam, and endearing characters. Quinn and Jaime have known each other since childhood. He’s the housekeeper’s son, they grew up together. He’s probably eaten more dinners at their house than he has his own. Jaime declared her love for him at age sixteen. He laughed at her. She’s never forgiven him. He’s never forgotten. He left. Yes, this is a friends to lovers trope with the big brother’s best friend mixed in (Quinn is one and the same), but there’s a twist. You see, Jaime isn’t your typical hearts, flowers, puppy dogs, and unicorns type of person. Nope. She totally knows that love is not real. Never has been. Never will be. It’s a marketing device to sell diamonds, chocolates, flowers, and greeting cards. It’s fun to watch how Quinn takes on the challenge of changing her mind.
One of my most favorite parts? After the story. Make sure that you read the Q&A between Melanie and the cover model, Dima. So much fun! I think I may “friend” request him on FB!
Where oh Where are the QUINNs of the world????
I’m not a fan of second chance romance and while this could/is classified as one, it doesn’t READ as one and I loved every word of it.
The little blip mention of Logan O’Toole was an added bonus. I love when favorite fictional characters are mentioned within a story.
I cannot say this enough about Melanie Harlow and her writing – but it just keeps getting better and better.
I absolutely loved Quinn and Jamie’s dynamic. It was something you could easily relate to and enjoy reading. It reminded me of some of my crushes from growing up and how I can think back and either I’m like “WTF was wrong with me” or “I wonder what he’s up to nowadays?”. Melanie is an amazing word smith, she draws you in and you are just on this ride of wonderment turning her pages.
I am once again blown away and my heart is warmed. This was an easy 5 star read for me.
Absolutely a must read. A great HOT romantic comedy about falling in love with boundaries. I FLOVED Quinn, his sexiness, charming yet playfulness and his respect for Jaime and her “rules”. I laughed at Quinn’s antics and blushed at his endowment and skill… I highly recommend this and know you can never go wrong with a Melanie Harlow story.
Jaime Owens was in love with Quinn Rusek, her brother’s childhood friend, but after an embarrassing and failed attempt at a confession, she’s not too keen on seeing him again after ten years, especially when her brother rents out the downstairs apartment to him. But even after all that time, he still got to her, he still got under her skin.
Quinn has always had feelings for Jaime, but Alex was his closest friend, and as much as he wanted to he didn’t think it right to get involved with his best friends’ younger sister. Even at eighteen he knew there were some lines you just didn’t cross. Now that he’s back, no matter how long it’s been, Quinn can’t forget and is excited to see Jaime again. And as they start to have a “no strings attached” affair of sorts, Jaime realizes Quinn isn’t like any other man she’s been with before, and finds herself questioning her rules, as well as her feelings about him. Quinn promises to show her as well as prove to her that real love does exist; but is Jaime willing to risk her heart to let him in?
Sexy as hell, wildly fun and wonderfully humorous story; the sexual sparks between Jaime and Quinn sizzles and crackles! I loved these characters, I loved their banter, the way they teased each other. Great story, I loved it!
Man Candy by Melanie Harlow is a laugh out loud book that once you start reading, you won’t want to put down. Ms. Harlow has delivered a well-written book. The characters are fantastic and lovable. Jamie and Quinn’s story is packed with drama, humor and sizzle. I totally enjoyed reading Man Candy and look forward to reading more from Melanie Harlow in the future.
I voluntarily read a complimentary copy of this book that I received from Bookfunnel.
I loved that Melanie took what is typically a male character trait and flipped it on its head. With Man Candy, Jaime the heroine, is the one scared of relationships and falling in love. She’d rather have meaningless sex than let her heart get involved. That is, until Quinn Rusek shows back up after 10 years and proceeds to show her that falling in love isn’t such a bad thing.
What starts as a “friends-with-benefits” arrangement quickly develops into something much more than Jaime expected, something much more than she was prepared to handle. And in typical Jaime fashion she does what she does bests…she breaks things off with Quinn, hurting him before he can hurt her. But poor, delusional Jaime…little does she know, she’s only hurting herself! Because Quinn sees her, he knows her…he’s broken down her walls and is just waiting for her to realize she loves him just as much as he loves her.
What an utterly delightful, fun, and sexy story Ms. Harlow gives us with Man Candy! I loved every minute I spent reading about Jaime and Quinn, 2 completely charming characters! I don’t even think I have words to describe how absolutely fanfreakingtastic Quinn is. He’s sweet, sexy, and undeniably swoony. He’s the ultimate bbf and I want him for myself. Melanie has done it again with Man Candy- there hasn’t been a book of hers I haven’t loved, and Man Candy is right up there at the top!
Nice!
