Is it really possible, do you suppose,’ said Sherlock Holmes to me one morning, as we took breakfast together, that a healthy and robust man may be so stricken with terror that he drops down dead?’”The much praised Denis O. Smith introduces twelve new Sherlockian stories in this collection, including The Adventure of the XYZ Club,” The Secret of Shoreswood Hall,” and The Adventure of the … Adventure of the Brown Box.” Set in the late nineteenth century before Holmes’s disappearance at the Reichenbach Falls, these stories, written in the vein of the originals, recreate Arthur Conan Doyle’s world with deft fidelity, from manner of speech and character traits to plot unfoldings and the historical period. Whether in fogbound London or deep in the countryside, the world’s most beloved detective is brought vividly back to life in all his enigmatic, compelling glory, embarking on seemingly impenetrable mysteries with Dr. Watson by his side.
For readers who can never get enough of Holmes, this satisfyingly hefty anthology builds on the old Conan Doyle to develop familiar characters in ways the originals could not. Both avid fans and a new generation of audiences are sure to be entertained with this continuation of the Sherlock Holmes legacy.

SherlockIans will enjoy
Some stories were good, but most were just okay and too long.
I didn’t like it. It didn’t hold my interest
I’m a sucker for anything about Mr. Holmes. I just finished viewing all 4 seasons of elementary which was much better than I thought it was going to be.
As good as any original Arthur Conan Doyle stories.
Thoroughly enjoyable!
Conan Doyle would be proud
If you need a Sherlock fix, this is just the right dosage of the super sleuth!
It contained several stories that were too east to figure out
These stories are vert Sherlockian, but not as brilliantly done, of course, as Conan Doyle. Interesting and complex plots.
It is close to the original story by the original author.
Good, but not the original
A wonderful homage to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, very respectful to his characters
Entertaining read. It is the closest thing to Conan Doyle’s stories that I have found.
Mischief…mayhem…murder are all afoot again in London. Denis O. Smith’s cadence, verbiage and plotting bring Sherlock Holmes back to where he belongs: in the reader’s hands, but, of course, that’s elementary.
Best imitator of Conan Doyle’s style among the dozens who have tried.
I am not usually impressed with “the further adventures of…” type of books but I was pleasantly surprised to find that this one has all the flavor of the original stories. I felt like I had stepped right back into 221 B Baker Street and found my old friends waiting for me. These are excellent new stories that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle would be proud of.
I love Sherlock Holmes
Feel like I’m reading stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The author has captured the style and atmosphere perfectly. A fun and fascinating series of stories that are true puzzlers.
Sherlock should a Jeopard regular.but Trebeck is no Watson.
