Mama and the Alien Warrior is book one in the Treasured by the Alien series by Honey Phillips & Bex McLynn.
Hrebec is adorable. I loved him the moment we meet him. He’s sweet and I just loved his interaction with the human child, her mother, and the Cire baby. He’s just heart-melting.
Abby sees herself as a mother figure to these women who where dropped off at her door. She’s protective of everyone in her care.
As the story goes and is explained in the blurb Abby has opened a maternity home for women with no place to go. All of those in her care are kidnapped from earth. Then get rescued by the Cires.
We are introduced to many secondary characters both human and aliens. At times it was hard to keep track of everyone, since so many are introduced and some secondary characters where hooking up besides our leads.
A few things frustrated me and took away from the story.
1. Abby kept saying throughout the book were going back to Earth. We’re leaving. We’re going back. She never asked the young ladies in her care if they wanted to stay with their rescuers or go back to earth. What do these women have to go back too? They had nothing back on Earth so, why go back? It was frustrating how much she kept repeating this.
2. Another thing that frustrated me was with Abby in that she never wanted to explore the possibility of a future with Hrebec, until all the other women said they want to stay. She just pushed off the bond. Even with all the signs.
3. I was very frustrated with Abby in that she thinks she knows what’s best for Molly. What Abby did in keeping Molly away from her mate ended up making Molly suffer. With the suffer all the signs where their that she wasn’t doing well. What Abby did put Molly, her unborn child, and her mates life in danger leading to a medical emergence. And in the end, only two lines are said about this and all is forgiven.
4. Last, It was frustrating that Abby tried to force the women in her care to do as she said and made decisions for them. These are grown women. Even if they are young and one is a teenager she should have talked to them and asked their opinion instead of being a mother in that my word is law.
Now, their were a few things I did enjoy about this story.
1. We are treated to some sweet and tender interactions. My favorite parts where all the interactions with the 2-year-old, Lucie. She was so adorable and open minded with her situation.
2. I enjoyed the aliens and how unique they are.
3. The family bonding parts where just so adorable.
4. Last, I liked how curious the aliens are in seeing a child, infants, and women. Many have never seen children and women; because their race has no women and is dyeing.
Mama and the Alien Warrior was a nice and enjoyable read.
Rated: 3 Stars
I liked it for the most part. Yes, there was the insta-love but if it’s done so there is a reason I am OK with it. There was some rushed stuff hence the 4 starts rather than 5 but I liked it enough to buy the next in the series. I did chuckle at the Galaxy Quest reference twisted just a bit to Granthar’s Hammer. Love Galaxy Quest and Alan Rickman in it! Lots of babies, while I like babies well enough in reality, kinda too many for a fantasy sci-fi romance, makes it a bit awkward. I was perfectly OK with the aliens and I liked their tails, I can’t say as I would want one of the bird people to be the hero-love interest, hopping around on bird legs would be too weird. Please don’t.
It Started with the *Blurb*
When I saw the authors’ post about this and checked the blurb, I’m enthralled and decided to take chances and read it. Apparently, Wow! I was really amazed and I loved it. For me, the book deserves more than 5 stars, happy to come across and enjoyed this.
This was a very sweet book with well-defined characters. In addition to the main romance, there were a few other blossoming relationships that added to the story without ‘taking time away’ from the main couple. The world building was quite enjoyable all around. I finished the book in one night, not because it was too short, but rather it was hard to put down! I hope to see more stories in this world she and her co-author Bex McLynn have created!
Aliens rescuing mothers and babies – yes!
Abby runs a maternity home for young women with no safe place to go. She, her daughter, the women and their babies are all kidnapped by aliens. These are not nice people. The women and babies are treated like chattel. I love Abby’s nurturing personality and her desire to help all the babies held by the aliens.
More aliens to the rescue! I love Hrebec and his crew with their frisky tails! What a fantastic story this is. It’s fascinating watching the women becoming interested in this new group of males, and the reactions of each of the alien men. Great story-telling, and the sweetest HEA ending I could imagine!
To say I loved this story is an understatement!! It’s a fresh take on the abducted by aliens story as the bad guys kidnap an entire home of young mothers and their guardian! Abby’s daughter is adopted and when she committed to that her man left. She doesn’t have a favorable view of men. She is the caretaker of a home of young mothers, some are still pregnant. Captain Hrebec is from Ciresia. He left his dying race to help police the galaxy. When he happens upon a Vedeckian trade vessel what he uncovers is quite a discovery. Abby has taken on the care of a 2nd daughter, a female Cire baby. (Who are so rare they’re extremely precious.) Will Abby and Hrebec discover a way to help his race recover and find a relationship, or will Abby return to earth with her girls?
I read Mama and the Alien Warrior in one sitting. Why?? Because I couldn’t put it down! I loved the interaction with all of the girls and the other Cires on the ship. Abby and Hrebec are one, hot couple and they definitely steam things up. I’m a huge fan of Honey Phillips & Bex McLynn, I really look forward to more books in this series! 5 stars!
Fantastic new release from Honey Phillips and Bex McLynn.
Featuring all the great things that make for an amazing steamy sci fi romance read.. plus a whole lot more!
This is a fantastic unique story. Both gripping and emotional to the point of heart breaking. I adored the main man Herbrec..he was a wonderfully created character that truly made me swoon. Abby is a fantastic leading lady, I loved her no nonsense/take care attitude. Filled with true heart touching moments I devoured it in one go. Nothing was stopping me from finishing this bad boy!
I would love love love for this to become a series. The co authors have created such a great world and story together that has left me wanting to know more!
Bravo ladies bravo!
Mother may I
An amazing series starter, this book is a must read! I love the characters! Their plight brought them exactly where they needed to be. These authors created a brand new world where the telling of the story brought both tears of joy and sadness to my eyes. I love that we got to see so many happy unions and new beginnings throughout the book. This was certainly a series that I can’t wait to read more of. It is perfect for the beach or just a fast weekend read.
I really love SFR. No, I don’t consider science fiction romance under the umbrella of paranormal romance (PNR) because paranormal, to me, suggests subject materials such as vampires, gargoyles, weres, and everything of myth, legend, and lore. Honey Phillips really did an excellent job with the archetypal alien abduction storyline without making it sound like a template… mostly. I enjoyed her world-building, and her extensive research was obvious as she had to develop the ecosystems of more than just one species. There was an ease in the flow of how the story progressed which demonstrated this obvious effort on her part.
Unlike most romance novels, Ms. Phillips had more than just one hero and heroine to contend with. We have all the young, single mothers our heroine Abby had to look over, the same with Hrebec and his shepherding of his own crew of Cire “misfits”. (Read the book.) You just can’t help but to know that these two would be destined to be together forever, but it was fantastic to see how serious Abby was in making sure that Lucie (her own daughter), Tiana (her Cire infant), her single mother charges (plus their babes both in and out of the womb), were safe from all harm, be it Vedeckian slavers, xenophobic, pure-blooded Cire, or peaceful Trevalorians. After reading this novel, I realized that I was very acquainted with Abby’s charges and their mates/guardians. (Long story. Just read it.) I felt very satisfied with everything. I appreciated that a lot.
As mentioned before, the world-crafting was very well-done, considering all that had to be done to make this story bloom. And bloom, it did. Though I’m sure there is still so much more to be discovered, I felt I had a decent start on the various races presented. I can only imagine how future stories will progress, created on this solid base.
Editing-wise… well, it was decent. I am a stickler when it come to the mechanics, but I didn’t see so much as to thoroughly detract from the story sa others had these last several days. Even though each chapter didn’t display whose point of view would be displayed, it wasn’t difficult to know, nor was there problems with continuity. When I write, I prefer not to hit the reader over the head when it comes to point-of-view. I always make it obvious, just like Ms. Phillips has.
I have read this book two times already, and I’m probably going to read it again sometime in the near future, it’s that good. This is a worthy investment rather than going the KU route. It warms the heart as well as tugs at it painfully when our characters haven’t yet determined their own futures as they are beholden to those they are guard and/or command. I appreciate how complete the ending is without any sense of rushing, and I’m sure I’ll enjoy the next story in this universe.
She adopted her niece and she focuses on her job. They are all taken by aliens who intend to use them to breed. She wants to get them all back home safe and sound. They are saved by other aliens and she gets closer to one. Will they make it? Can they get back home? Will she want to leave him? See just how they all get on

3.5+ “naughty tails are the best” Stars
If you’re in the mood for a sweet romance and some naughty times in deep space with a green reptilian-ish alien, Mama and the Alien Warrior will hit the right spot.
Abby, along with her daughter-niece and all the girls in her maternity home, got abducted by bad aliens to be sold as breeders. Fortunately for them, the spaceship gets intercepted by good, nice aliens (who also happen to be easy on the eyes and built, despite being green with tails) who rescue them.
As Captain Hrebec’s race has lost all their females, he and his crew are immediately spellbound by the humans. Some of them had never seen a female! Hrebec is immediately drawn to Abby, who awakens feelings and desires he has never known, but he has sworn to return them home negating any possibility of a future together.
Abby and Hrebec were both selfless and committed to the wellbeing of all around them, even to the detriment of their own happiness. Abby tried my patience with her stubborn denial to even consider the possibilities available to her, but I could understand where she was coming from and it was kind of admirable (damn it) so I couldn’t really stay mad at her. Hrebec was the cutest, most adorably smitten alien ever, and the way he melted for his girls was perfection. I really enjoyed witnessing their becoming a family as well as a couple.
With some suspense and a (tiny) smidge of action, Mama and the Alien Warrior had a Ruby Dixon feel to it with the hot sex and sweet, sweet romance. I loved my time with Hrebec and his crew and I loved how there were HEA’s to go around there at the end. I’ll definitely be checking out the other books in the series when the alien mood strikes next.
One of the truly more original plots I’ve read in a long time.
Abducted at night. What a nightmare, but it isn’t a nightmare! Can you imagine? What would you do? Something inside ourselves perseveres and is our finest element that shines forth. A true grit that is called forth to survive. For tomorrow may be better. The silver lining to the cloud is an old saying, but when things are hard and you keep moving forward, often times that is when you turn the corner.
love the book
great read

An awesome story. It starts out with a kidnapping, well the whole house full of women. All pregnant and then Abby she was like a den mother. Running the house and teaching the girls or women to be able to have their children and make a living for them. Abby also had a child of her own. What they have to go through is very scary. The story is very beautiful done and shows that you can find love in the most unexpected places. Very well done.
