Ok. First off, I had a different view of Treacherous than Malicious. Oliver had been the villan and bad guy in Treacherous. This was his story along with Savannah who is Oliver’s step-Sisters’ bff. Of course this story showed some of what we seen in Treacherous. However, I also see Oliver’s redemption. This story was difficult due to underlying matters.. It also allowed us to dig deep into Oliver’s source of his pain as well as Savannah’s. With so many things going in this world, it was a breather to read something real and something that we mostly see throughout families. Both authors did a great job at explaining and educating us on subjects deemed difficult and heartbreaking.
This was definitely a redemption and love story that others need to read.
5 STARS
Unexpected but I liked this. I liked this a lot.
This new to me author set the bar high with this enemies turn lovers new adult romance. You can practically feel Savannah and Oliver’s oozing chemistry through the pages and as they try to fight the attraction, I couldn’t help but laugh out loud with their funny banter and oh shit when the sensitive triggering content made its appearance. Besides the romance, I was pleasantly surprised that the author touched base on eating disorders. She did a remarkable job explaining the struggles and insecurities one may face. This is partially why I will keep this author on my must watch list and catch up with the series by reading the prequel ‘Treacherous’ to get a bit more background on the characters and how Savannah and Oliver met.
4 Stars
I’m always uncertain about how to start my research, but I think a good place is to say that even though Malicius is a unique book and can be read alone, I think to have a complete understanding the ideal would be to read Treacherous, and I think that for those of us that he didn’t read it, I think that for those of us who didn’t read it, I think that for those of us who didn’t read it, I think that if he didn’t read it, I think that if he didn’t read it, I think that if he didn’t read it, he’d be wondering what he did.
That said, I liked the book a lot, so I finished Treacherous, and I hated Oliver and I think the authors did a good job of showing people that people make mistakes, learn and grow up in front of it. The Oliver I met in this book was a good boy, protective, faithful and good friend. It’s a boy who has a family drama going on and at a lot of times I wanted to hug him.Savannah is the opposite, comes from a solid, loving family base and yet she’s fighting with her demons, she’s a character who showed her strength and fragility. Oliver and Savannah developed a relationship I enjoyed watching and I think they both did good for each other.
This book brings in some twists that to me weren’t so surprising because I saw it coming, and I think the authors might have developed a little better. The same thing happened to the theme treated through Savannah, it’s a delicate theme and I think the authors might have given a little more attention to the subject, especially at the end. The resolution of the story was a little rushed and everything was resolved without a problem and some ends were loose.
Anyway, this is the second book I read from the authors and I think they did a great job with that story.
Malicious is Oliver and Savannah’s story. He is the step brother and best friend to Rylee and Zayden from Treacherous. Savannah is Rylees best friend from the same book. Oliver comes from a wealthy family and is a serial player. Savannah is a smart girl with some deep personal issues. She’s an amazing best friend to Rylee and doesn’t like Oliver mainly for the way he treated Rylee in the beginning. Rylee has forgiven Oliver, but Savannah is having a harder time doing so. I really enjoyed Oliver and Savannah’s love/hate relationship and their funny, witty banter. I enjoyed watching their story play out and can’t wait to see what’s next from these two authors!
This book is amazing! This is the story of Oliver and Savannah. It’s a wild ride of so many emotions and it will keep you guessing as to where their story is going to end up! What happens when hate becomes something totally different? What happens when what you think you know isn’t really what you know at all? Long hidden secrets are revealed and people aren’t quite who they seem. This is a story full of heartache and pain, the product of a lifetime of disappointment. It’s a story of closing yourself off so that the pain stays hidden. But hidden pain is the most destructive pain of all. Can Savannah and Oliver realize that love is in front of them if they only let the hurt go and open up to the truth? Loved it!!
Wow, just wow!! This book ran me through an emotional turmoil. Anger, happiness, frustration, sadness, hate, love and all the rest. Angst, so much angst. I had to decompress after I finished this book. My brain was buzzing and my body burned like I just worked out for an hour. It was phenomenal. Great characters, amazing storyline, excellent writing equals perfect book. Love, love, love this book!!
Alex and Melissa hit it out of the park yet again!! Malicious is a standalone, but I highly recommend reading Treacherous first. Getting to FINALLY hear Oliver and Savannah’s story (after plenty of begging from fans) was absolutely phenomenal for me!! And it hit home in sooooo many more ways than one. This book was a definite win!!!
Such a Great read!!! Both authors are an absolute one-click for me no matter what. So getting books written by both is such a treat for me. I loved this one just as much as Treacherous. This is book 2 in a duet and you don’t have to read the first one to read this one, but I highly recommend it. Malicious is an enemies to lovers/bully romance. This is Oliver and Savannah’s story. I have to admit that I didn’t care for Oliver in the first book, but knew that there was so much to his story that I needed to know. Their story drew me in with their love/hate relationship and the drama between these two. OMG….the drama between these two kept those pages turning. I was taken by surprised by the path that their story line took and it made me fall in love with them both. I loved that their story deals with real life subject matters that some people deal with everyday because it just makes it all the more real. Another highly recommended book!!!
Happy Reading Everyone!!!
This was the first book I’ve read by Alex Grayson. I’ve read a few books by Melissa Toppen and love her as an author. I was excited to received an ARC of this book and really enjoyed it as a standalone. But I want to read the first book in the series to see exactly what I missed out on.
In this book, Oliver was really hard to like at first. Savannah was not much better actually. But as the story played out, my heart ached for both of them. I even shed some tears. That didn’t stop me from wanting to stomp on Oliver’s foot a few times though. I was not ready for the ending, but really enjoyed how it was done. Will be looking for more from these authors.
Melissa Toppen manages to pretty much tear out my heart with many of her books. This one with Alex Grayson is like that, but in a different way. The bantering with Oliver and Savannah was fun to read, but it was more fun reading their story as their dislike for each other softened. That didn’t mean that the heartbreak lessened. However, the two were good for each other, even though their paths weren’t straight.
I was so excited to get to read Oliver and shavannas story and I was not let down. There back and forth banter was the best and you could tell there chemistry was going to be off the charts. There experiences and troubles throw out the story was heart breaking but I love how they were able to over come there problems and overcome everything to be together. This is a great read one of the best this year for me
Super excited for this follow up story by Alex Grayson and Melissa Toppen!
I fell crazy hard for this crew in the first book Treacherous. The characters pulled me in with their back and forth drama, their amazing personalities, and the obvious love they developed.
It was a no brainer that I would fall hard for Oliver and Savannah too.
There are few things that are better than a couple who start off hating each other only to find they can’t live without one another.
Separately, they each have their own issues but in each other they find the strength and courage to face their demons and heal.
This was 4-5 hours of good reading that made me wanting more from these friends in the end.
Who knows maybe Charles will get his own story!
Besides Oliver and Savannah, you frequently get Rylee and Zayden in the mix, kind of like seeing updates to their relationship. Their story, while secondary, is very intertwined with Oliver and Savannah just because the group is so close.
Highly recommend this read. You don’t have to read Treacherous first, but I would as there may be some things you question through out.
5 Stars all the way!
I was really excited to read this book and very curious on how Oliver’s story was going to be told.
We are introduced to Oliver in the book Treacherous (that was Rylee & Zayden’s story) but don’t worry Malicious can be read as a stand alone too.
Oliver Conley is a spoiled rich kid with major “Daddy” issues and is easily angered and will retaliate if he feels you’ve wronged him. Again we find out how horrible he can be in the first book. But in this book Oliver wants to continue to right his wrongs especially to his step- sister Rylee.
Rylee’s best friend Savannah Reynolds believes Oliver can’t change and this begins their story.
Both Oliver and Savanah have secrets and try to keeps those from their friends and each other. This gives a lot of twist & turns in their relationship. Savannah does eventually give into going on a date with Oliver and actually begins to give into her attraction to him. Eventually their feelings grow for each other Maybe into love?…and lots of passion. Very hot ! But around the corner there will be a huge reveal. Lots of feels too.
Another great collaboration of Alex Grayson & Melissa Toppen! I really enjoyed this continuation of Rylee, Zayden, Savannah & Oliver’s Story. Great Job!! Love this Book!
Another gem from Alex Grayson! I couldn’t put it down.
You will need to be careful with your kindle because Oliver will make you want to chuck it and then stomp on it with your nearest pair of boots. Oliver has issues and needs to redeem himself in the end. It does make the end result all the more satisfying though.
Savannah also is dealing with her own issues so it’s a two way street.
I loved the chemistry between them and once again Alex delivers with keeping me up at night to finish this amazing read. Please one click you won’t regret it.
This was a great read that addressed some real issues.
“What has my hackles rising anytime she’s near is my body’s reaction to her. The woman hates me with ever fiber of her being, while I have to fight tooth and nail to keep my hands off her.”
Oliver Conley and Savannah Reynolds hate one another. However, there’s a fine line between hate and lust. No matter how much they can’t stand one another, it doesn’t seem to affect their libido – which only makes them hate each other more. However, one kiss between them seems to change their dynamic and when Oliver begins to pursue her in earnest, Savannah finds herself giving in bit by bit. As their relationship deepens, the demons that they’re both fighting may end up breaking them apart.
“I have never been so infuriated with someone yet so consumed by them at the same time.”
Both Oliver and Savannah were strong characters. They were fiery, snappy and a little bit exhausting! LOL. There was so much enmity between them that something had to give sooner or later. Oliver had real anger issues, as well as a massive chip on his shoulder. Savannah also had a bit of a chip on her shoulder, as well as much deeper self-esteem issues. However, issues aside, they were well-suited in terms of their personalities – both needed a strong partner to match them. I enjoyed the book overall but their happiness certainly felt like a hard-fought battle.
Malicious is a good enemies to lovers story. I went into this story with mixed feeling, as I didn’t really like Oliver’s character in Treacherous, however as this story progressed my feeling started to change about him. He’s dealin with family issues, college, and he’s trying to rectify those he wronged. But there’s one person, who’s not buying into his apology even if he’s a sexy bastard. Savannah is saucy, no hold barred girl. I liked her. With their best frends dating it forced Oliver and Savannah to spend time together, and they start to see eachother differently. I’m really enjoying these stories, and I hope they will continue writing more together.
3.5 stars
We first met Oliver in Treacherous and he seemed pretty unredeemable, so I was interested in seeing how the authors were going to spin this. Oliver was still an asshole at heart, but he seemed to want to make amends and move on. Not enough to go to therapy (that boy NEEDS therapy), but enough that I could understand why Savannah began to fall for him. He is loyal and protective, almost to a fault.
One one side of the equation, we have the damaged Oliver with his broken family and on the other, Savannah, with her loving and supporting parents. I think this is one of the reasons why they were drawn to each other. He to her strength and she to his loyalty. After they both get over being enemies, they quickly grow to care and rely on each other.
And then some twists happen. And Oliver reverts to his usual: pushing people away by lashing out. Which I can understand, with his upbringing. But I’m having a hard time getting over and accepting what he said to Savannah. To me, it just speaks of pure meanness. And who wants a hero that can be so mean? Honestly I’m not sure Oliver learned or grew from this fight/argument/whathaveyou.
There was a critical issue (no spoilers!) that occurred in Malicious, and I feel like the end result or treatment was glossed over. It made it feel like a less important issue which doesn’t set well with me.
Regardless, I love when these two authors get together and will patiently be waiting for more.
After having read Treacherous I could hardly wait to get my hands on Malicious. These two authors write together pretty seamlessly. I had not known how I was going to feel about Oliver since how he was to Rylee in the first book, but i gotta say I almost liked this one better, Savannah and Oliver were very well written and developed characters.
Get ready for some family secrets with a little angst tossed in and you have the perfect recipe for very good YA story. Loved it! Highly recommend. Can be read as a stand-alone but for a bit more character background it’s best to read in order. 4.5
Oliver stole a bit of my heart in Treacherous.
Yes his words can bring a grown man to his knees.
And cut a vulnerable heart to shreds.
But underneath his mean words I knew there was a hurt soul.
Oliver knows how his words hurt.
He just doesn’t know the lasted effect of them.
A lot of people say verbal abuse is worse than physical abuse.
The physical heals but the verbal effects linger in the mind and the spirit.
I love Savannah!
She’s the kind of best friend everyone wants.
She giving, loyal and has unconditional love.
Savannah is sassy, feisty and definitely gives as good as she gets.
But underneath all that is a vulnerability she hides.
She deals with her issue by herself.
She is unwilling to share even with those closest to her.
Which leads to feeling alone.
What she goes through is one in which many females deal with.
Or can relate with.
I appreciated how these two amazing authors tackle two very important subject matters in this book.
Weaving these issues with a budding unsure relationship was done amazingly.
I loved this book!
Enemies to lovers has to be my favorite books ever! And holy were Oliver and Savannah enemies. This can be read as a stand alone but highly recommend to read the first book, to get the back story. This duet of authors work so well together telling a story, they captured my attention in the first book, and was dying for this one, and holy this one did not disappoint at all!
