Thirty-fifth in line for the British throne, Lady Georgiana Rannoch becomes embroiled in royal wrongdoing in the ninth mystery from the New York Times bestselling author of Crowned and Dangerous.Caught between her high birth and empty purse, Georgie is relieved to receive a new assignment from the Queen. The King’s youngest son, George, is to wed Princess Marina of Greece, and the Queen wants … Greece, and the Queen wants Georgie to be her companion: showing her the best of London—and dispelling any rumors about George’s libertine history.
The prince is known for his many affairs with women as well as men—including the great songwriter Noel Coward. But things truly get complicated when one of his supposed mistresses is murdered.
The Queen wants the whole matter hushed. But as the case unfolds—and Georgie’s beau Darcy, as always, turns up in the most unlikely of places—their investigation brings them precariously close to the prince himself.

clever
Fun take on historical characters, royalty, and mystery
This is such a cute series, and Lady Georgianna, distantly in line to the British throne, is a resilient aristocrat in a world situated between two world wars, reeling from the Depression, and struggling to exist without a ready source of income despite being the daughter of a duke!
excellent
Enjoyed this one very much. Just finished reading about Princess Louisa who lived in the palace where this story takes place, so was glad to read friction in the same setting. Good story, and good plot.
Lady Georgiana is the umpteenth royal in line to inherit the British throne. She’s single at a time when not being married at her age is almost a punishable crime. She’s broke and is trying to make her life work when everyone around her thinks she’s out of her mind for trying to make it on her own. She’s the first person, though, when Queen Mary has “a little errand” to run. Like keeping her eldest son and the presumptive heir to the throne out of the hands of “that Simpson woman.”
This is one of my favorite authors. I’ve not read any book written by her that I did not enjoy.
I love this series. Being 35th in line for this Brit has not limited this royal. Finally Darcy is going to make good on his promises and Georgie’s sister-in-law gets her comeuppance. Belinda makes a mistake but all in all a great read.
