She was beautiful. He was my best friend.I loved her, but he took her away from me, so I left and never looked back.I thought I understood brotherhood, but then I joined the Black Sentinels and they showed me what real loyalty was. Not like Dean, my childhood best friend. He and I made a pact about Malia, the beautiful girl who moved in next door, but they betrayed me and cut out my heart, and I … heart, and I vowed I would never forgive either of them.
Now she’s here, the girl I loved—the one whose call to my heart was stronger than the call of the ocean, and she needs me and my club to help keep her safe from him.
The thing is, betrayal cuts deep and I’m not sure I can be there for her when I fear falling in love with her all over again.
But that’s a lie. I never stopped loving her. She ruined all other women for me.
Malia Kyler took my heart over a decade ago and never gave it back.
Can I let her in for a second time? Or do I risk it all, and take what should’ve been mine all those years ago?

4.5 terrific stars!!
This is a second chance romance, stand alone in the “Black Sentinels” series. The third book, I believe. This is Malia’s story.
This book drew me in. I know this is a MC book but there was so much more to it, I will say the MC part was rather short and sudden. But the back story was amazing!! I loved this book so much. I think the only negative criticism I have is there is quite a bit of lingo and sayings that are not used in the States so it made it feel not as authentic. Also, how we just jumped into Wave’s story. Even with those two things this book is wonderful!!
These characters are one of kind and I love them all, and the ones I hated, well I hated them hard! The author brought this story together and made you a part of their lives. I want to be in Cali on the ocean just to be a fly on a board between these guys!
The story starts as teenagers and morphs into so much more. This is definitely a coming to age book, and rarely am I a fan but damn this was good. The book flowed effortlessly and made you want more!! This is a great read!
**I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book**
Victoria Johns is a new to me author and I chose to read Malia specifically because I want to experience some MC stories. Malia turned out to be an easy read with leading characters who had sizzling and undeniable chemistry, an intriguing storyline, and the hotness of a good boy turned bad@ss biker who will protect his woman at all costs.
In the beginning I questioned whether it was an MC story, but as it turns out, the author was setting the stage for the future, creating the connection that would guide the characters forward. A childhood trio has their unbreakable bond shattered by lies, deceit, and betrayal. Loyalties are tested, and a new path to their futures is born.
As I continued to read, it became clear that the other MC characters had also survived tragic pasts and their stories have already been told. I hadn’t read them and was not left feeling in the dark about anyone. Author Victoria Johns wrote Malia in such a way as to keep the previous characters clearly in the picture as Wave’s new chosen family while she tells the tale of how Malia and Reef become Malia and Wave.
This is a great MC story for a beginner to the genre. It has the element of secret and dangerous criminal activity that I expect to see in an MC. I cringed a bit but it wasn’t too dark and grotesque for my newbie mind. I never felt confused with terminology and felt the strong and loyal connection of the Sentinels brothers. They never give a second thought to what has to be done to keep their family safe. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and absolutely loved the ending. I’m a sucker for romance and beautiful epilogues—Victoria Johns nailed it on both fronts. I would totally recommend this book and this series to any MC lover.
This tasty second chance story follows Wave (reef) and his childhood friend Malia. We get their backstory which deals with lost love, loss , betrayal and friendship. Fast forward 10 years and we find Wave all grown up and a member of the MC and Malia is in a world of trouble and the only person she runs to is the 1st and only person she knows and trusts to be able to help. We find out some pretty disturbing things along the way and even though Malia burned him all those years ago Wave realises he still loves her and does what he can to keep her safe. I really enjoyed this book its a good addition to this series. Loved how the MC took Malia in as their own right from the very start an I’m looking forward to reading more in the series.
