Malevolent: Book 1 in the Cases of Lieutenant Kane Series of Police Procedural Novels
Tampa Homicide Lieutenant Carl Kane has a tough job. His day to day consists of decomposing dead bodies and removing murderers from the general public. But, when two women’s bodies are found under similar circumstances, it quickly turns into more than your average case. The killer is clearly looking to make a … looking to make a name for himself, and his plans for these women go far beyond death.
When the media runs with the story, the killer’s moment in the spotlight arrives.
It’s up to Lieutenant Kane to bring the man the press has dubbed the ‘Psycho Surgeon’ to justice. Yet, being the lead on the case has its drawbacks—like becoming the focus of the killer yourself.
As Lieutenant Kane closes in on his suspect, he soon realizes that the case has become far more personal than he could have ever imagined.

It was written well but not for me.
I enjoy some murder/mystery books but the villain was a psychopath and not something I enjoyed reading. I know it was just a book but I didn’t like reading about the damage he did to the women.
I can’t say enough! Fantastic read for thrilling mysteries
Never have read a book with this kind of killer…omg
I am not much of a book reviewer. All I can say is that I liked the book.
I’m a total sucker for a good cop novel, and this one is outstanding.
I loved just about everything that transpired, its original, and the gory parts are simple but superb!
I’m finding that I really enjoy when the “bad guy” has their own POV, and it’s in a different “person” than the rest of the book. Ex: Lieutenant Kane is in first person and …
Seemed to be written for high school students. The ending had a “made for TV” movie from the 1970’s plot.
One spooky book!
Excellent author who always writes a good story.
Enjoyed book! Looking forward to next one.
really enjoyable reading cover to cover
Intense! Suspenseful! Scary! I really enjoyed this book. It had interesting characters that seemed real and interesting twists and turns that had me holding my breath.
Good read–kept me interested to the end
This was my first read by Reinhard. I will read more. It hooked me early and kept me to the end.
Good read
Read this book. A thriller the author seemed to hold my interest though out the bool.
Ranks right up there with Lee Child’s books. Awesome read.
Excellent book. Being from Tampa I’ve now enjoyed two of his books. Keep them coming
Think I enjoyed because I’m a Tampa native, so to read a story set in my hometown interested me. Will read more books in the series.
Couldn’t put it down
I found this book fascinating as it was the first time I had read a book with such a creative story line. Made me cringe and physically put my hand over my mouth as I read the descriptions of the murders. Bravo, excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed it – maybe that’s a bit weird?
