Malevolent: Book 1 in the Cases of Lieutenant Kane Series of Police Procedural Novels
Tampa Homicide Lieutenant Carl Kane has a tough job. His day to day consists of decomposing dead bodies and removing murderers from the general public. But, when two women’s bodies are found under similar circumstances, it quickly turns into more than your average case. The killer is clearly looking to make a … looking to make a name for himself, and his plans for these women go far beyond death.
When the media runs with the story, the killer’s moment in the spotlight arrives.
It’s up to Lieutenant Kane to bring the man the press has dubbed the ‘Psycho Surgeon’ to justice. Yet, being the lead on the case has its drawbacks—like becoming the focus of the killer yourself.
As Lieutenant Kane closes in on his suspect, he soon realizes that the case has become far more personal than he could have ever imagined.

Great book and storyline. Characters were developed and easy to relate to/understand. Easy ready and definitely didn’t want to put the book down.
This novel started out kind of slow then started moving quickly! A very sick individual was killing women and Lieutenant Kane of the Tampa PD is on his trail. The killer is ruthless–Kane is bound and determined to bring him to justice. Then it got personal.
Lots of blood and gore and twists and turns in this one!
Great characters
This is a really good book. It held my attention and was hard to put down. The characters were real. It was well written. I hope to read more by this author.
great as usual
Great book!
Very good , couldn’t put it down
Weird but good.
I like police procedural novels. This was a page turner to see if they found the right guy and caught him. I would definitely read other books by this author.
Not worth your time- shallow characters, wimpy dialog. Desperately in need of an editor.
Creepy, but very suspenseful & well-written!
Easy 5 stars. Great read & hoping to get the second in this series. Love a good mystery? This is it!
Exciting read!!’
In reading this book, I could see how this would play out in real life. The bad guys were really bad and the good guys were really good. But mostly, it could have come from the front pages of any news magazine.
Starts off with bang and keeps going. It is sort of realistic considering the things that happen in real life. Wasn’t quite the same but made me think of Jeffrey Dahmer sans cannibalism. Kept my interest all the way through.
The crimes were pretty grisly. Not for the squeamish. Good story though and I liked the characters.
I liked the points of view from killer and detective.
Great
Overall, it’s good. The details are rather grisly in places.
I always love a good mystery/thriller but this one I couldn’t finish. Too gruesome with way too much detail and not enough story development. Nope, too graphic for me and I usually enjoy Reinhard’s books.
