A new standalone, laugh-out-loud romantic comedy by New York Times bestselling author Helena Hunting.
Cosy Felton is great at her job—she knows just how to handle the awkwardness that comes with working at an adult toy store. So when the hottest guy she’s ever seen walks into the shop looking completely overwhelmed, she’s more than happy to turn on the charm and help him purchase all of the items on his list.
Griffin Mills is using his business trip in Las Vegas as a chance to escape the broken pieces of his life in New York City. The last thing he wants is to be put in charge of buying gag gifts for his friend’s bachelor party. Despite being totally out of his element, and mortified by the whole experience, Griffin is pleasantly surprised when he finds himself attracted to the sales girl that helped him.
As skeptical as Cosy may be of Griffin’s motivations, there’s something about him that intrigues her. But sometimes what happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas and when real life gets in the way, all bets are off. Filled with hilariously awkward situations and enough sexual chemistry to power Sin City, Making Up is the next standalone in the Shacking Up world.

Making Up by Helena Hunting is everything you need in an EXCELLENT book! Quirky, sexy and with sexual tension & chemistry like nothing you’ve ever seen before, Cosy and Griffin will grab your heart from page one!
Cosy and Griffin are hands down one of my most favorite HH couples. From their hilarious first meeting to the very last page, I was completely smitten with this couple. Fun, great banter, sexiness and chemistry that just jumps off the pages, Making Up is one of Helena’s best. I enjoyed getting to see the rest of the Mills Brothers and that devil Armstrong as well. I loved the slow burn between Cosy and Griffin and the angst? GAH!!! Perfection <3
I highly recommend Making Up as well as the entire Shacking Up series!!
Sometimes you just know you have a good thing in your hands from the moment you see the cover. And really, look at that cover. Those abs, those arms, those pecs….
Uh, where was I?
Oh, right. A good thing.
Making Up is that good thing. Griffin Mills is, well, he’s a Mills brother. And Cosy is just the perfect pairing for this big-wig hotel guy. She’s feisty and young and the best counter for Griffin’s seriousness.
Helena has another hit with these Mills brothers. Just when you think you’ve found your one true Mills love, you are hit with a new brother.
Are there more hiding somewhere? I could read about these guys allllll day.
I loved this book from the start to the end!
Cosy Felton is a young girl who is a part time student and part time works, and she works in an adult store. She is happy with her life the way it is. So she was not expecting Griffin Mills to walk into her store. He’s a suit and came in looking for gag gifts for a friends bachelor party, (or so he says, lol) He is the hottest sexiest guy she has ever seen and he is kind of adorably awkward and she loves that. So when he comes back a week later asking her out, she is a bit hesitate but eventually says yes. I mean what harm is there going out with him having a good time and that’s that right.
Griffin Mills is in Las Vegas for his family’s business and he did not expect to meet someone like Cosy. She is funny, single has a take no prisoners attitude and she is a free spirit. Just what he needs to keep him company while he is in Vegas. So they have some fun together at the end of the three months he goes home and they dont see each other, right, just what they both need… But both of them can’t deny their attraction and can’t deny that they love spending time together and can’t deny they can’t stop thinking of the other. So not that simple as both of them thought…
This book was hilarious. I loved both of these characters. Cosy was funny, sweet sometimes, she didn’t let anyone tell her what to do and she was a take no prisoners type of girl. Griffin, man he was just hot and sexy and had me from the first page. Hot funny explosive chemistry and a romance story that will have you wanting more…
Making Up is a laugh out loud romantic comedy. Told from dual points of view, Making Up follows the story of Griffin and Cosy. Cosy has a some what unconventional job, yet she’s really good at it. If you’re feeling awkward, she knows just how to put you at ease. So, when Griffin walks into her store, for the first time ever, she’s knocked off her feet. He overwhelms her, but that won’t stop her from doing her job. Griffin is in Vegas for business and somehow got the short end of the stick and was stuck having to get gag gifts for his friends’ bachelor party. He’s in way over his head and that’s where Cosy comes into play. Not only is she charming, but she helps him get all the items on his list. Cosy thinks this will be the last she’ll ever see of Griffin, but she couldn’t be more wrong. Griffin is drawn to Cosy in a way he can’t explain or understand. He’ll do anything to get her to take a chance….
Making Up is a hilarious and awkward read…and I mean awkward in the best possible way. Cosy and Griffin couldn’t be more opposite from one another, but neither can deny the pull they feel. Cosy is young and a total free spirit. But don’t let her age fool you, she is a lot wiser than one might expect. And then you’ve got Griffin. He’s older, more mature and is used to getting his way. He makes Cosy feel like a million bucks and will stop at nothing to make her his.
Overall, I thought this book was a really fun read. I loved the awkward moments and the sexy ones too. It’s impossible to not fall head over heels for Cosy and Griffin. These two are just so much fun and I loved getting swept up in their story. Sure the road to happily ever after was filled with some bumps and drama, but what good romance isn’t. At the end of the day, this book had me in stitches with laughter and left me with a huge smile on my face. I couldn’t ask for anything more.
Another stellar story by the amazing Helena Hunting.
Set in the amazing Shaking Up world this is Griffin’s story. I have been so looking forward to his!! I am a sucker for the strong, silent type and he fits the bill fabulously!
Griffin and Cosy are a magnetic couple, even with the bit of unorthodox mixed in for fun. A bit of the prince and the pauper and a bit of an age gap but nothing creepy or “squicky”.
I was amazed and humored by Cosy. Her age was not a hinderance at all. She was mature beyond her years and she was feisty and fun as she should be at her age. It was the perfect blend.
Oh Griffin, Ms. Hunting never fails to make me swoon with her hero’s. Just when I think she can’t beat her last hero, she gives more and makes a man even more imperfectly perfect than before.
Griffin and Cosy’s story is going to keep you turning the pages until the end and then wish it wasn’t over. Their story isn’t all hearts and flowers…it’s real and bumpy and oh so just wowza!
Get your hands on this fantastic story! You will thank me later!
This book is equal parts hilarious, hot and sweet with just the right amount of hit you in the feels emotion to really pull you in. I was glued to every page of Making Up. When I wasn’t busy giggling I was busy falling entirely in love with Cosy and Griffin. They may bring polar opposite to a whole new level, but they also happen to be a perfect match proving opposites do way more than attract.
Cosy is one of those characters that you can just immediately relate to. Between her humor, her kindness and her strength she’s easy to love but it’s the real world issues of life and how she deals with them that really bring her to life making her feel more like a friend than just a character. Griffin on the other hand is just all kinds of sweet, occasionally awkward, but mostly hot swoon.
These two have chemistry to match the connection that seems to click into place the first time they meet and that really takes things to a whole new level when it comes to how addictive their story is.
I love this book so much it’s so funny and it’s such a great book to read. Love the characters and the storyline Helena hunting has another hit on her hands. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
This was a fantastic romantic comedy. Fun, sweet, sexy filled with LOL moments, and packed with hilariously awkward moments, drama, romance, love and a sizzling chemistry that jumps off the pages. This story quirky charm pulls you in and doesn’t let you go until the last page.
These two are complete opposites but do they work well together. Cosy is a young vibrant, sassy, smart, twenty-two year old, who is still in college and working part-time at a sex toy warehouse. She has never had a serious relationship and really doesn’t want one. Griffin is in his early thirty’s and has just come out of a serious relationship. He comes from a wealthy family that is in the hotel business. His time in Las Vegas is limited and will be leaving soon.
But Griffin is taken by Cosy’s beauty and her upbeat personality she is everything that he needs and wants. But even though Cosy is attracted to him she is reluctant about seeing him because of their age difference. They finally agree to keep it simple and they take it slow. But the drama, they must deal with seems to be never ending, and before they both know it, they have fallen. I loved watching them fall, and so will you! Don’t pass this book by!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
What happens in Vegas should always stay in Vegas unless it is finding your soulmate in the aisle of an adult toy shop. Cosey and Griffin start off their relationship with shyness and a lack of comfort but make up for it with a perfect combination of understanding and warmth. The book not only had great characters and a storyline that I could not put down it also included moments of ridiculously funny humor and wiping tears from your eyes heart warming moments. From beginning to end this is another wonderful read from Helena Hunting.
This was my first Helena Hunting’s book, and won’t be my last. This is the fourth book in the Shacking Up Series. Cosy and Griffin’s story is sweet, fun, sexy, and romantic, filled with twists and turns. They are both such great characters and I loved their story. The ending is beautiful. This story is beautifully written and captivating. I enjoyed my reading, and highly recommend it. Now, I’m looking forward to read the other books in the Series. I voluntarily reviewed it after receiving a free copy.
4.5 Stars
Making Up is the fourth romantic comedy in the Making Up series, but can easily be read as a standalone. I highly recommend this title to anyone who enjoys a sexy, fun, charming, and humorous romance.
Griffin and Cosy’s story is an opposites attract romance. He’s a planner and she’s free spirited.
Griffin is charismatic, sweet, determined, driven and successful. He’s quite a contradiction at times, completely at home in the business world, he’s confident and charming, but when it comes to the opposite sex he bumbles his way through his interactions and has a tendency to say the wrong thing.
Cosy is free spirited and down to earth. She has a tendency to go with the flow, and despite her life philosophy of living life to the fullest, she’s quite responsible and driven. She’s fun, care free, full of energy, life and incredibly vivacious and endearing.
The chemistry between this pair is undeniable, and their banter is fun, flirty and often display’s Helena’s signature dose of humor that will leave you with a smile upon your face.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed each addition to the Shaking Up series, and Making Up is no exception. With equal parts, heat, heart, dram and romance, this romantic comedy is sure to engage and delight.
Cosy and Griffin were so much fun! I loved their absolutely quirky relationship so much. I was constantly laughing and on the edge of my seat.
Cosy (amazing name) is such a great and strong lead female!! I LOVED how different and understanding she was. She has this amazing life of travel while still pursuing her dreams. I mean, who wouldn’t want that life? So, I loved when Griffin came in and rocked her world completely. I think he took her off guard just as much and she did him. Seeing her reaction to him was absolutely hysterical. I loved that she kept saying these awful punny and inappropriate lines when they met, and then his equally awkward reaction. It was all so great. Definitely a story to tell their grand kids! LOLOL
Griffin was 100% not what I expected. Not that the other Mills men were, but I loved how carefree Griffin was. He was living his best life, while still having fun, but also running the world as usual. I think that is part of what made him the perfect match to Cosy, because she is very much the same way. In this story poor Griffin has so many blunders, and I really felt for him. There were a few twists and turns that really had me on the edge of my seat wondering what might happen next. I also kept wondering, what the heck is Cosy thinking in this mess? But, I loved how for every bad moment there were SO many amazing ones for these two. The amount of chemistry and easy they have, it’s so admirable!
Now, we have to talk about the supporting characters. From Nev to Lex, we got some goodies. I loved seeing Lex again and how he helped out Griffin. I also loved the bad guys, because without the bad guys this would be just your run of the mill rom-com. They have this story the perfect amount of layers that it needed.
I can’t wait to see where she takes us with this Shacking Up world!
Okay, romance lovers, can you keep a secret? Although I have happily promoted Helena Hunting and her books for a very long time, MAKING UP is actually the first book of hers that I have read. Yes, it’s true… *ducks and runs* Why, I don’t know, because now I am now kicking myself and wondering what in the actual heck I was thinking.
As this was my first time in Helena World (see above), I wondered whether the book would work for me. Let me offer a resounding ‘YES!’ This book can totally be read as a standalone, and, while characters from other books do make an appearance, there’s plenty of back story offered here for it to make sense. And, you know, whet our appetites to get the heck caught up with the rest of the Shacking Up world.
MAKING UP is just the kind of book that I want to find on my book pile again and again and again. What a delightful read this book was! I fell in insta-love with both Cosy and Griffin, and absolutely inhaled their story. Awkward, sexy, funny, these two are a match made in heaven, and seeing them get from start to finish could not have been more fun. Any book that can leave me with a smile on my face and a love for characters that will have me reading the author’s other books is a win for me. 4.5 stars and a must-read recommendation for MAKING UP. Get it. Read it. Love it.
I have loved this series since we got introduced to this band of characters in Shacking Up. Each and every book is a whole new adventure with a different couple in the starring roles.
Griffin is another of the Mills brothers, we have already met Bancroft and Lexington in the previous books. Griffin is the quieter of the brothers and he drew the short straw and was sent to an adult toy store to pick up “stuff” for a buddy’s bachelor party. Cosy is the salesclerk at the store that ends up helping Griffin make his choices to buy for the party. She also teases him about the reason for all of the toys he is buying, not believing he is buying them for the reason he’s saying!! After getting him fixed up she sends him on his way. She was in shock when a week later Griffin shows back up at the store asking her out on a date. Cosy is suspicious of what he really wants from her and makes it extremely difficult, but he continues to pursue her until she gives in. Griffin’s self esteem had taken a big hit recently when his fiancé broke up with him in a very cruel way.
I loved the story there were several misunderstandings and little more drama and angst then in the previous books but not too much that it hurt the story. Once we got thru that Griffin and Cosy begin to build a relationship, Cosy helped Griffin believe he wasn’t a worthless human and Griffin helped Cosy learn to except that she could have more. It was a great story with an outstanding ending!!
And oh my I can’t wait for Lincoln book Handle with Care coming up next!!
Another incredible book from this author. Since I first started reading books by Helena Hunting, I have yet to be disappointed. All the emotions are there and all the boxes checked. Her heroines are smart and strong-willed as well as relatable and likable. Her heroes are always sexy and sinful, but gentlemen.
In this story, the oldest brother of the successful hotel mogul family finds his happily-ever-after. When he and Cosy meet for the first time, I was enamored. In just a few pages, I learned a great deal about Griffin. His shyness and vulnerability were endearing. I knew this man had a background I wanted a front row seat to. In addition, watching him with Cosy was like watching him truly experience life for the first time. Another aspect I loved about Griffin was the fact that while he is incredibly wealthy and not shy about spending his money on Cosy, he was not pretentious.
Cosy, is quite a bit younger than Griffin but that didn’t seem to be an issue once these two got to know each other. There are several bumps in their road to happy-ever-after and a good amount of angst in the book. But every bitten nail was worth getting to the end. I won’t get into any other details so you can enjoy this sweet story without spoilers.
This is definitely a must read. I just love how light hearted I always feel when a finish a Helena Hunting Book.
This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. 🙂
Talk about an entertaining read that had me laughing! Throw in some angst and a lot of emotion and this made for a truly great story.
What could I add to all the amazing reviews…
I love Helena Hunting’s romcoms.
For each series, I have my favorite couple, and Griffin and Cosy are definitely my favorite in the whole Shacking Up Series.
But MAKING UP is so much more than a romantic comedy!
It’s hilarious, and OH.SO.STEAMY, but it’s also angsty.
The perfect mix for me.
Cosy and Griffin could seem like a very unlikely couple, since they’re from very different worlds, then there is this age gape thing and all, but it turns out that they’re just perfect for each other.
I was smiling the whole two days it took me to read the book…
Ladies, you need their love story, trust me.
Great characters, solid storyline, AND THE FEELS!!!
Anyway, I’ll say it again:
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRiffin!!!!
I’m so NOT over him…. *sighs*
One of my favorite Romcoms this year!

I feel like I’ve been missing out as I’ve only read a couple of this authors books.
You won’t be able to stop yourself falling for Cosy and Griffin that are just adorable. This was such an easy book to read. At times hilarious and at others emotional overload. There is a sweet charm to this quirky book. Cosy is the friend every girl wants on their side. Griffin is the uptight sexy businessman we all want waiting in the bedroom for us.
The angsr is slow but the passion is simmering throughout. This is Vegas and what happens in Vegas stays there. Right??

The swoons were so real in this one. So were the laughs and the need to Gibbs Smack a few people and…gut a few with a spoon…
But it was the swoons that made my heart all KINDS of twitterpated and wishing I had a Griffin of my own.
Griffin pretty much owned me from the minute he stepped into Cosy’s place of employment. In that one moment I saw the man he was.Vulnerable, charming, a little awkward, but also had the kind of confidence that made you want to get closer and when he let his alpha side out to play? Well, the man was seriously lethal. And then there is Cosy. She is a spitfire with a huge heart and an enigma since she’s something of an organized free spirit. I know, you’re probably going huh? But trust me, as you get to know her, you’ll understand.
As for their journey to their HEA. It was an interesting one, but I thoroughly enjoyed watching them get closer and finding that, despite the fact they are opposites in many ways, that they fit each other perfectly. They just flowed. There are a few bumps in their road, one had me reaching for that spoon, but I loved how everything turned out for them in the end.
This was a really fun read. I loved every moment of Cosy & Griffin being together (the moments they weren’t…well, yeah, not so much) but overall this really was a feel good read that gave me the swoons. I loved catching up with Bane and Ruby and Lex and Amalie and cannot wait to get my hands on Lincoln’s book!

This is book #4, in the Shacking Up series. This book can be read as a standalone novel. To avoid spoilers and gain full understanding of this series, I recommend reading these in order.
Cosy has a hard job. She is Las Vegas, working at an adult toy store. When Griffin comes in she assumes he is just another perv off the street. Lots of those in Vegas.
Griffin is bowled away by Cosy from the moment they meet. He just has to figure a way to get her to go out with him. How will he ever survive a future that could be so blank now that he has met the one?
This is in my opinion, this author’s best work to date. The characters feel very real. Flawed, good looking, and struggling to show excitement for their current situation. Then they get together and magic! I loved their banter and the heat was sizzling over.
