A new standalone, laugh-out-loud romantic comedy by New York Times bestselling author Helena Hunting.
Cosy Felton is great at her job—she knows just how to handle the awkwardness that comes with working at an adult toy store. So when the hottest guy she’s ever seen walks into the shop looking completely overwhelmed, she’s more than happy to turn on the charm and help him purchase all of the items on his list.
Griffin Mills is using his business trip in Las Vegas as a chance to escape the broken pieces of his life in New York City. The last thing he wants is to be put in charge of buying gag gifts for his friend’s bachelor party. Despite being totally out of his element, and mortified by the whole experience, Griffin is pleasantly surprised when he finds himself attracted to the sales girl that helped him.
As skeptical as Cosy may be of Griffin’s motivations, there’s something about him that intrigues her. But sometimes what happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas and when real life gets in the way, all bets are off. Filled with hilariously awkward situations and enough sexual chemistry to power Sin City, Making Up is the next standalone in the Shacking Up world.

It’s always the quiet ones you have to watch out for.
Griffin is definitely the strong, silent type. That gives him a hint of mystery and intrigue. You don’t really know what to expect with him, and he tends to surprise you at every turn. He’s so much more than the fantastically gorgeous package he comes in. He’s so sweet, charming, awkward, funny, and just the right amount of cocky alpha to make him perfect. He’s also way out of his comfort zone when it comes to Cosy, for a multitude of reasons. She adds a spark to his life that I feel like he may have been missing.
Cosy is one of a kind, and I absolutely LOVE her! She’s quirky and unfiltered, often putting her foot in her mouth, but who doesn’t act a fool sometimes and say the wrong thing when there’s a gorgeous man in the room? She’s strong, independent, knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to go after it. She’s simply a very refreshing character.
I really enjoyed this story. It had all the quirkiness and hilarity of a Helena Hunting novel that I’ve come to expect. And it has all the feels, too. Griffin and Cosy definitely don’t have an easy go of it, but the adventure is half the fun.
This is a fantastic book that I think you’re going to love.
Griffin and Cosy have such a fun relationship. They both know that it has an expiration date, but they don’t let that stop them from enjoying each other in the mean time.
Cosy is such an independent soul. She loves to travel, takes care of her older sister when she’s in between boyfriends, and continues to get her education to follow her dreams. She also doesn’t care much about people’s opinions of her. She is who she is, and you either take it or leave it.
Griffin is jaded from past relationships. His trust has been shattered, and he isn’t looking for anything serious. He knows he wants what his brothers and father have, but doesn’t want to put himself out there.
I loved how Griffin was with Cosy and vise versa. They both had their insecurities about their relationship, and they both made sure to help their other person see that they had no need to dwell. They made each other whole and fought for each other’s happiness.

Griffin’s first meeting with Cosy is very awkward for him and extremely embarrassing to say the least, but it’s adorable too and Cosy noticed Griffin’s qualities straight away. Admittedly, Cosy was better at her store bantering, her flirting after work just had her stumbling over her words, but she sure would like to loosen that guy up a bit.
Very entertaining. I liked the characters a lot, they were very well developed and match, and the plot was full of fun with just an added touch of drama.
I highly recommend this book!
It’s safe to say I love this series. Even tough, it would be more accurate to say I adore Helena Hunting’s books. The Shacking Up world is filled with crazy, fun, sexy and loving characters, and this book was no different.
Romantic comedies have a way to make you feel good, to lift your spirits and turn your day in something better, and that’s what I look on a book. To disconnect from real life and lose myself in the story while smiling. Cosy and Griffin hit it up since the first chapter.
Cosy works in a sex shop, and Griffin was the mysterious man in a suit who entered that store to buy son toys, allegedly for a bachelor party. Their exchanges made me laugh, and every time ever since they were close to each other I found myself rooting for them.
If you’re looking for a good book to spend your day, to take with you to the pool or the beach, to fall in love and have fun, this is the one. You can go wrong with Helena Hunting’s writing. She never disappoints.
I loved Griffin’s story, and I also loved Cosy. They were just perfect! Making Up will steal your heart, seduce you and entertain you. It was so easy to fall in love with these characters. Now I can’t wait to read the next installment in this wonderful series.
LOVED! Cosy & Griffin were so adorable and perfect together. Like always, Helena threw in the perfect amount of humor, angst, and heat! So many feels! I didn’t want to put it down!
From the author of 2019’s summer beach read “Meet-Cute” comes a meet cute that surpasses the standard. When Cosy and Griffin become acquainted through her job at a sex toy shop it didn’t appear that anything would come of it. But Making Up is pure Helena Hunting gold and it may be one of my favorites yet. The writing is clever, funny, and engaging and Cosy and Griffin a wonderful dynamic duo who I couldn’t root for much more. I was particularly intrigued by the “older man/younger woman” trope and found myself completely engrossed in their story.
Everything about how this story unfolded made me happy – even the angsty and perhaps relationship ending moments. I’m usually not all that impressed with the billionaire characters trope but Griffin is wonderful. There’s nothing reflecting a huge ego in his activities and he really comes across as a steadfast and genuine man. Cosy may be my favorite HH heroine. there is something so infectious about her personality and I loved her for Griffin. The balance of their distinct personalities and that age gap created a scorching hot and yet soothingly sweet and fun chemistry. Making Up is certainly another #mustread from HH.

I found myself another EPIC read by Helena Hunting!!!
Making Up is the fourth book in the Shacking Up Series by Helena Hunting. Helena is so great at creating characters that are equally intelligent and attractive with a twist of quirkiness that has you truly laughing out loud. I enjoyed Griffin’s and Cosy’s interactions and how it proves opposites do truly attract!
Each time I learn that Helena is releasing a new book, I know that once I read it I will not be disappointed. This is definitely one of those times. Making Up by Helena Hunting will join the ranks of the BIBLIO-ARISTOCRACY!!!
~ Thank you to the author, St. Martins Press and NetGalley for generously providing me an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Soon as I see Helena Hunting has a new book out I get all giddy and excited. She has never disappointed me with her brilliant rom-coms. Trust me you will be unable to out this one down once you start.
I loved how this story started, I could honestly picture it in my head and it had me crying with laughter. I was practically cringing with Griffin and his unease whilst being amused by Cosy and her entertaining wit and banter.
I loved Griffin and Cosy from the very beginning. They were total opposites but they suited each other so well. Cosy is a free spirited hospitality college student who works in an adult toy store part time. Griffin a hot AF suit wearing businessman, who is the poor unfortunate soul who is sent to the adult store for suppliers for a bachelor party. Maybe it wasn’t unfortunate as Griffin got to meet Cosy. Despite his unease at being in the adult toy shop this girl wakens something in him that he never anticipated.
The chemistry and connection between Cosy and Griffin is off the charts hot and instant. Despite the ae difference (Which I didn’t think was bad) they just need to get past the obstacles they have put in their way.
I laughed, I felt all the emotions, it was simply a brilliant, flawless read.
Another freaking awesome book by Helena Hunting!!!
Cosy is working in an adult toy store and meets Griffin, who shops for a bachelor party. Interesting sparks fly. A few weeks later he asks her out, where they realize they have almost a decade of age difference. Can they keep up this casual fling they have? Is the age gap too big?
This book is so hilarious, and the scenes are extremely funny. I love spunky and sassy Cosy! Griffin is totally adorable, and not necessarily a stuck up suit, even tho he’s a billionaire and what he wants he gets.
This book it home so much, as my hubs is 13 years older, and I was 20, when I met him. So I can totally relate to some age gap struggles… but over 22 happy years later, I can say we managed them all 🙂
I kindly received an arc for an honest review
Read this on a plane and had to catch myself because I was laughing out loud. This book is hilarious, sweet and sexy all at once. I fell In love with Cosy and her no nonsense attitude. When she first meets Griffin, and is thinking this guy is drop dead gorgeous, expensive suit, let’s up sell him some sex toys and accessories I just died laughing at the vision. Great romance and all around incredibly good story. Pick this one up. You won’t regret a minute.

I am such a huge fan of Helena Hunting and always get excited when she has a new book out. Making Up was such a fun quick read. I am loving this series and these characters.
Cosy works at an adult toy store while finishing up college. She has no problem switching to work Cosy when people come in the store where she works. One day she meets this hot sexy man who has a list a mile long. She helps him and thinks she will never see him again.
Griffin is in Las Vegas for work and has the task of buying gag gifts for a bachelor party. When he meets Cosy even though she works at an adult toy store he can’t seem to stop thinking about her. Will he be able to get Cosy to give him the time of day?
These two have amazing chemistry but Griffin has to work to get Cosy to trust him. There was so much sexual chemistry between these two and the banter. I loved this book and all the characters. There were times I laughed and times I felt for the characters. If your looking for a book that will make you laugh and give you the feels this is it. This was a one sitting read for me that I highly recommend.
3.25 stars. This was a pretty good read, but it was not my favorite of the series (looking at you Shacking Up!). Making Up is Cosy and Griffin’s story. Cosy is a college student and virgin who works in a sex toy store. Griffin is a millionaire who works for his family business running a chain of high end hotels. He is in Vegas for a few months as he works at the hotel there. He meets Cosy when he comes into her store to buy a bachelor party gift for a friend. He is interested in her right away and pursues her. Neither of them want a serious relationship, but they have great chemistry. So they agree to a short term fling while Griffin is working in town. But as they spend more time together, they develop stronger feelings and begin to want a future together. They have some pretty big obstacles to overcome before that can become a reality, but they do eventually get their HEA.
I really liked Cosy and Griffin as a couple. They really seemed to love each other, despite a significant age gap. I will say, I liked this book in general, but I felt it had too much drama, breaking up and getting back together, etc. Also, this book had a few tropes that I don’t like and maybe wouldn’t have wanted to read this book if I had known they were included. I liked the first part of the book before those tropes were introduced much more. The OW (ex) drama continued on to the end of the book. It affected their relationship right up until the last page (before the epilogue), which I felt was such an odd note to end on. I had a hard time feeling strong love between the couple after all that drama happened, which stopped the relationship momentum. The tempo of the book felt off to me, as well. Still, I liked the main storyline of the book and I liked Cosy and Griffin. They were sweet and sexy together. They just had bad luck from their pasts and outside sources which affected their relationship.
Overall, I liked this book, but didn’t quite love it. Still, I do enjoy this series. I look forward to more from Ms. Hunting in the future.
Making Up is the fourth book in the Shacking Up series by the talented and hilarious Helena Hunting. I love this series and I never doubt that Helena is going to give me exactly what I need. This is Griffin’s story. He’s Lexington and Bancroft’s brother and you know we’ve been waiting for him to get his happily ever after! He’s in Vegas on business and has to buy the gag gifts for his friend’s bachelor party. That’s where he meets Cosy. At the sex toy shop. He’s embarrassed out of his mind and she’s young, fresh, confident and gorgeous. Cosy never trusts men who come into the shop. You never know if they’re freaks or not, but this man is so gorgeous, she’s temporarily dumbstruck. She uses her assets to sell him more than what he needs and watches him walk away. Only to show up weeks later and ask her out. Awkward! He’s so freaking cute with the way he stammers. He’s thirty-three he should be able to ask a woman out! Cosy takes pity on him and his handsome face and goes out this him. They are opposites but they just get each other. He’s rich and fancy. She’s a struggling student. But their attraction is off the charts. He’s only in town for a while, so they decide to see each other while he’s there. Things are fun and sexy, and easy. And then those pesky feelings start to happen. And then the past comes back to get them? Can Cosy and Griffin survive and fight for each other? I loved this story! This series is one of my favorites and Helena always cracks me up, makes me swoon and leaves me wanting more! I loved it all! The shwarma in her shirt? OMG! The crazy awkwardness. Griffin’s lack of game. Poor thing! Total perfection!
Wanna grab awesome book, that will make You cry and laugh in the same time ???? YOU can be sure – Making Up by Helena Hunting is perfect story for You.
Making Up is just exactly like Mrs Hunting at her finest writting style – sweet, sexy, impossible hilariousl , with the right dose of the drama in the back ground… HOWEVER… need to admit something- I was expected this…. maybe even more than, just a little, BECAUSE – Helena is a trully Queen of rom com, right ??
Since the very first pages I COULDN’T put this book down. I DIDN’T only read this book, I was devouring every word in the speed of light… Cosy and Griffin are so freaking amazing together !!!!! Obviously…. they are different like day and night, and just as a day and night they match so perfectly together. Chemistry between them is over the charts !!! Where Cosy try to be safe with her heart, Griffin knows exactly how to make her feel much more, than she want. He’s so manly, presistent…. and caring… he seriously melted me, since the moment “I’ve read” him first. Gahhhh…. Yes Ladies, Griffin knows exactly how to seduce woman’s heart.
I can’t count how many other things makes me fall in love with Making Up !!!! I find there everything what I love to get in my books – amazing characters, great story line….Helena created another epic book, can’t wait for more !
Be ready – I’m sure- Making Up should be in every woman’s library.
I am the first to admit that I am horrible with remembering characters’ names in standalone series. I have been reading this series since Hunting first started it. I didn’t remember Griffin at first… But, some of him previous came back to me while I was reading this one.
I can honestly say that I enjoyed this book. As always, I went in mostly blind. All I needed to know is that it’s a Hunting book and part of a series I am familiar with. I definitely wasn’t expecting one aspect of the story, but I think that was an added benefit. I am unsure to say what that is. I don’t want to spoil it. I have already seen reviews spoil it, but I am not that reviewer.
I liked the age difference between them. It isn’t large. It’s realistic. And it shows a true picture of what age difference can be in the positive and negative when it comes to relationships.
I can honestly say that I enjoyed this book. It was funny, charming, and over all an easy read. I devoured it in almost no time. I was truly a little sad to see it end.
Cute, funny, hot and charming. I felt so at home while reading this story. The characters act so natural, so real, it seemed it was happening in real life, only with perfect pace and romance.
Cosy and Griffin kept surprising me with their approachable charm, their honest chemistry and dialogues. She is a free spirit with very clear goals that dittach from the cliché, and he is a handsome gentleman with baggage and a noble heart. They are mismatched but match like a fated puzzle.
They get to know each other and it’s sweet as well as powerfully hot. He woos her in the most blissful ways. They are themselves when they are together. Despite that, some surprises come up like mold on good bread. It really becomes an avalanche on top of poor Cosy. I loved the easy, happy times. Then bad times accost this wonderful couple and it feels overwhelming.
This Prince Charming may have some serious dragons in his backyard, but he’s surely committed to showing his feelings towards his woman. I loved the moment when he turns possessive as his feelings start getting deeper. There is a funny scene to prove that.
Griffin and Cosy’s relationship is spontaneous, fun, sensual and lively. It’s also a mess as life is a mess when all the bad things catch up with this very much in love couple, and the ending is so heartwarming, I felt rejuvenated. I’m very glad I read this 😀

It’s so great to get back into a fav series and revisit a world you love, meeting new characters and getting to catch up to some old ones. I love the Shacking Up world and Helena has just proven that the Mills men know just how to win a girl’s heart (I’m taking about me here).
I did not expect to love Griffin has much as I did, because I just literally hadn’t been expecting Griffin Mills. But he completely won me over with his weak pick up lines, non-game but most of all his sincerity and his desire to find a love like his parents had.
Cosy was such a unique character but what else do you expect coming from Helena Hunting?! She writes the most unique and funny characters and Cosy was right there at the top. I really loved her spirit and how she knew what she wanted and got it at her own pace and not according to society’s standards. She provided most of the laugh out loud moments and the awkward cringe-worthy ones that have you dying alongside the character. It was the freaking hilarious I have gotten used to with a Helena Hunting book and I loved that she never ever disappoints on that front.
Cosy and Griffin will steal your heart as they are stealing each others, it’s fast, swoon-worthy and such a fun ride. Griffin despite not having any ‘apparent’ game, he had it where it counts – in his actions. That man is a romantic at heart, willing to pull out all the stops to win over the girl and it was epic. He gave me Grey vibes sometimes and although he wasn’t as kinky, he sure knew what he was doing.
Making Up is a laugh out loud, swoon-worthy new standalone in the Shacking Up series that I’m sure readers, old and new, will love. Griffin and Cosy are sweet couple that will have you so invested, you’ll hurt when they hurt and you’ll grin when they are happy. Helena Hunting never fails to deliver an amazing story, filled with laughter, steam and just the righ amount of angst.
I. Loved. This. Book!! The Shacking Up world keeps getting better and Helena Hunting is obviously loving creating these characters!
Griffin Mills is a suit. He’s also sweetly awkward and an alpha male with a sometimes filthy mouth. He’s tired of staying in his box, because that hasn’t really made him happy til now.
Cosy Felton is a free-spirited gypsy of sorts. She’s also driven and focused and tells it like it is. She’s independent because she has to be, and for as young as she is, she’s really an old soul.
These two are in totally different places in life. They wouldn’t seem to have anything in common. Except they connect on a level neither of them expects or knows how to fight. And let me tell you, it was fantastic!! With humor, so much passion, some good dirty talk and a few twists and turns Making Up May be May new favorite in the series!
Add in some supporting characters like Cosy’s sister, Nevah. Man I didn’t think I’d like her because to say she’s a trip doesn’t even begin to cover it, but I ended up totally wanting her story! And Cosy has a friend/coworker named Helix that was too funny. Oh and let’s now neglect getting our first glimpse of Griffin’s bff, Lincoln Morehead. Or how about catching up with the other Mills’ brothers, Bancroft and Lex? Good times all.
Definitely a rocking good read!! Made my Geekery heart happy!!
The Shacking Up series is back! I have loved getting to know this family, everything about them is fun and I end up having a new favorite couple with each story. Cosy and Griffin are no different and their story is seriously perfection. Everything about these two is amazing. They are an unlikely couple, but that made me love them even more.Their meeting is unusual, but it totally fits them. Everything about these two says “opposite” but that is what made them even more unique. Griffin’s determination to make Cosy’s his had me swooning.
Griffin and Cosy seriously needed each other, they just didn’t realize it. I loved getting back to the Mills family. I was just what I needed to get out of my book funk!

Making Up is book 4 in the Shacking Up series, and while each book can technically be read as a standalone I highly recommend reading them all!
I dare you to keep a straight face while reading this book, the funny & sweet moments will win out immediately. Four pages in we’re treated to “Dear sweet Jesus on a cloud of marshamallows, this is my lucky day”, and Helena Hunting’s unique humor continues to delight until the very end. Some heavy moments are thrown in with the laugh out loud ones, keeping the reader on their toes and ensuring no interest is lost.
As usual, Hunting has written exceptional characters. Griffin Mills is even more delicious than expected (I mean, with Bancroft & Lexington as brothers I had some pretty high expectations!) with a sense of humor & super sweet demeanor mixed in with his gorgeous looks. An alpha with a bruised heart, he’s the uber book boyfriend that I couldn’t get enough of!
I adored Cosy! She’s a strong, independent, and kick-ass heroine, which is what I have come to expect from Hunting. Full of wanderlust, she’s putting her dreams of traveling before a career & settling down. I loved & admired her spirit, doing what she needs to do to accomplish her goals and not letting anyone hold her back.
With the perfect meet cute in a sex toy shop, these two latched onto my heart from the very beginning. They were complete opposites but complemented each other perfectly, with hysterical banter and off the charts chemistry. I loved how they each shared their own world, from greasy diners to 5-star restaurants, and their relationship progression was absolutely perfect.
If you’re looking for a hilariously fun story with plenty of steam and amazing characters, this is it! While I think the drama was a bit high, the story was fun and sweet and I absolutely loved it. Can’t wait to read what’s next in the Shacking Up world!
