**”**Narrators Muffy Newtown and Jacob Morgan will make listeners blush and laugh their way through this Las Vegas-based romantic comedy in which the sin extends beyond the city…Newtown is great at emphasizing character individuality and sneaking humor into her delivery. A new standalone, laugh-out-loud romantic comedy by New York Times bestselling author Helena Hunting.
Cosy Felton is great at her job—she knows just how to handle the awkwardness that comes with working at an adult toy store. So when the hottest guy she’s ever seen walks into the shop looking completely overwhelmed, she’s more than happy to turn on the charm and help him purchase all of the items on his list.
Griffin Mills is using his business trip in Las Vegas as a chance to escape the broken pieces of his life in New York City. The last thing he wants is to be put in charge of buying gag gifts for his friend’s bachelor party. Despite being totally out of his element, and mortified by the whole experience, Griffin is pleasantly surprised when he finds himself attracted to the sales girl that helped him.
As skeptical as Cosy may be of Griffin’s motivations, there’s something about him that intrigues her. But sometimes what happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas and when real life gets in the way, all bets are off. Filled with hilariously awkward situations and enough sexual chemistry to power Sin City, Making Up is the next standalone in the Shacking Up world.

Get ready to fall in love with Cosy and Griffin in Making Up. You will just love them as much as I did. Cosy is a hoot and you will swoon over Griffin. I love their connection and the way they meet will be just the start of your laugh out loud moments in this read. Navigating a new relationship is never easy and just watch as Griffin and Cosy handle things together and apart. It just as fun as them Making Up. I seriously love them together and boy do they heat up the pages. I really love what Helena Hunting brings to the pages. This is a guarantee one click for me and it should be for you too.
I am not making this up… YOU WILL ADORE COSY AND GRIFFIN’S STORY!!
Making Up is book four in the Shacking Up series and it was filled with the same sexy, charming, and humorous scenes that Helena Hunting is known for.
She gave us two great characters in Cosy and Griffin. They have an awkward yet memorable first meeting. It’s a sexy suit meets quirky virgin. And there is an age gap that adds more excitement to the plot.
Cosy is a twenty-two-year-old college student who works at a sex shop to pay the bills. Her personality is much on the shy and innocent side, but when she is at work she is confident. She is focused on finishing college and getting a degree. Her plans are to land a job that allows her to travel. She meets a handsome, sexy suit when he walks into the sex shop she works at.
Griffin is a businessman who gets what he wants. He is loyal, charming, and sexy AF. He is intrigued when he meets Cosy. He wants her but knows she is younger.
Their age difference makes each of them hesitant to start any relationship, but once they go on one date their chemistry is hard to fight. There is added drama from past exes and past hookups.
This book is filled with adventure, steamy scenes, and Helena’s humor.
I give Making Up 4 stars. It was a fun, flirty, and sexy romance with likable characters that were awkwardly perfect for each other. The story was easy to read and can be read in one sitting. Reading Helena Hunting books are my guilty pleasure and I’m always ready for more!!
Helena Hunting Making Up
Fair Warning – once you begin you won’t want to put it down and you won’t be ready to say goodbye when you reach the end. At least that’s how it was for me.
Making Up brings back the Mills with Griffin and Cosy’s story. Griffin is a serious guy who has always taken relationships seriously and after having his heartbroken, he meets Cosy. Cosy is a free-spirited girl with commitment issues.
Together they feel a no strings attached is a way to have some fun and each the easy connection they share. But with that comes complications that rocks both their worlds.
I SO enjoyed every second of this book. I figured I’d get started on it before bed but soon learned there was no putting it down. I was up until 5am falling in love with both of them. Laughing and swooning and crying and heart melting at every turn. Griffin was so freaking romantic and fought at every turn to keep Cosy.
This book was everything!
These Mills men have put a spell on me! I fell in love with Bane first, and then Lex, and I was so excited when Helena Hunting announced that enigmatic Griffin would be getting a book as well. Making Up was such a sexy and sweet age gap romcom. This is book 4 in the Shacking Up series, but it can definitely be enjoyed as a standalone.
Bane has always been my favorite, but Griffin might have *just* eclipsed him. Griffin has been dealt a pretty terrible hand and his confidence and ego have taken a bruising, but I loved his vulnerable side as much as his alpha possessiveness. He was the perfect amount of sweet and sexy and his chemistry with Cosy was off the charts! Even though they both initially have reservations about the more than a decade age difference, Griffin needed someone just like vibrant Cosy to heal his jaded heart. She’s the soft curves to his sharp edges. Yes, sometimes her youthfulness showed, but in some ways she was also much more mature than her 22 years. The build up between them was so delectable and the foreplay alone almost set my kindle on fire!
Making Up was filled with Helena Hunting’s signature humor and wit. Those laugh out loud “is she really going to go there?” moments are what make me love her romcoms so much! I also enjoyed catching glimpses of several of my Shacking Up series favorites (*swoon* Bane) and getting to know Lincoln better. The story flowed well, but was a little cliche and predictable with some of the drama, especially regarding Griffin’s ex, Imogen. I appreciated that it was resolved just as quickly as it appeared though and the little twist at the end was a great way to pull the series together. The epilogue left me with a dopey grin on my face and I’m excited for Lincoln’s story next in Handle With Care!
*I voluntarily read an advance review copy of this book*
One thing guaranteed with Helena’s books- they’re pure entertainment. There’s a perfectly spiced pot of hot hunky goulash, lots of smiles and laughter, a dash of sensitivity and a perfect HEA.
All this is proportionate spiced, cooked to mouthwatering perfection and served sizzling hot.
I can pick up ANY of her books and I’m assured of. A good time
This one is no different.
Cosy Felton works in a STW- Sex Toy Warehouse, yet manages to cling to her innocence. Note that she’s not naïve, just unadulterated and unjaded. In walks Sex-on-legs, Griffin Mills of the Mills Hotel chain, whose family has like Eleventy Billion dollars!!
“Dear sweet Jesus on a cloud of marshmallows,It’s a good thing clits don’t react like penises, otherwise mine would be hanging out of the bottom of my shorts with excitement.”
So yeah…she gets a lady-boner. He turns out to be older, funnier, cuter and a whole lot…*read that* Too Lot of dick-possessing sexier.
“So I take your age and divide it by two—”
“—and add seven,”
The story is full of fun and laughs. Thoroughly enjoyable, wise Ass cracks, smart Ass comments and somewhere in there are feelings that kind of latch into your heart.
I need to mention something, Helena writes perfectly. The stories are neither slow nor fast, not too many sads or over the top laughs, no darkness or frivolous lightness…it’s just right.
A runaway hit from a super it series.
Pick up for a good time!
5 stars for Big Smelly Huge Goat Balls
Griffin Mills, the oft referenced, yet never seen, Mills brother. Who is the eldest sibling of this prolific hotelier family? If you have met Bane and Lexy, what is their big brother, the calmest of the bunch, really like? Could be even be as wonderful and as perfect as he seems to be in the conversations where he is mentioned?
Yes. Yes, he is! He is all that and more!!!!
Griffin was a dream, and Cosy was his silver lining. Griffin did everything right, no drama, no missteps, he was living his life and it was fine, and he was okay with that. Cosy was living out her life in her way too. Surrounded by drama, she flowed along on the waves, making her way in a way that felt good and right to her. Their meeting was unorthodox, and their dating wasn’t what either normally did. It all fit though, and then the tides changed. Their differences seemed overwhelming at points, but they figured things out. The emotional ties they made were unexpected, and those took them both off-guard. But they were willing to try.
Griffin and Cosy were human, flawed, wonderful, and sexy. They were opposites attract, and that gave me some cringes, some tears, and some giggling out loud moments, “Living my best gay life” in rainbow glitter and the antics of our peeks at Lexington and Bancroft. And by the end, I was like them, deeply in love with these characters, who so richly deserved and needed the other, to balance the perfection that was their life!
I am confident that Helena Hunting has caused some serious chemical reactions in my brain. Because I lost my orientation to time and place while reading Making Up, the new sexy contemporary romantic comedy by her. Otherwise I wouldn’t lose track of time or give some rather inappropriate and hilarious reactions in public place. It was perfect in every way. Imagine an intense and epic love story wrapped by cover of sarcasm and wit to its best. And Making Up will still be better than anything.
Two things those make this story so amazing. The characters and the storyline. Both the leading characters are unforgettable. Cosy is a gorgeous, bright, optimistic , independent and a totally different kind of woman. She takes life like an adventure and lives every moment to the fullest. She doesn’t want to make things complicated.I totally loved the way she handles the situations in her own way with sass, strength and certain moral standards. And Griffin is exact opposite of her. He is older and has an even older soul. He is the polished and sophisticated billionaire businessman outside but he is actually very thoughtful, charming and understanding. He respects Cosy and her decisions but he isn’t afraid of taking control when needed. He is the most intriguing combination of sweet and dominating! And seriously he was melting my heart and panties all the way. He has this vulnerable side locked tight inside that came from betrayal and bitter experience from his past relationships. But I was swooning so hard over how he let Cosy in!
Let’s talk about the storyline. It was a genius one. I had a blast while reading it. The author shifted gears effortlessly and smoothly all the time. The initial encounter and story progression was hundred percent funny and laughing-my-guts-out kind. And then she introduced the layers of drama in small, effective and surprising doses. So the story shifted to a sombre emotional side and my heart was breaking for the couple. The misunderstandings and heartache were put in the story very cleverly so that the flow never became boring or one dimensional. Again the subtle witty and sarcastic streaks kept it from becoming too heavy. I was hooked and invested in the story heavily. I laughed with happy and silly moments. I got angry and upset with the heartbreaking turns. I became the expert cheerleader and supporter! The relationship between a penniless college student aka part time sex toy store salesman with heart of gold and a uber rich businessman with wounded soul starts from a chance encounter and the heat is built up painfully slowly till they have a bone deep, soul numbing and all consuming connection. They face some real life obstacles. They have their fair share of mildly angsty and emotional pain. And the journey was phenomenal because of the elegant, engaging, bewitching and exquisite writing of Helena Hunting book.
Making Up by Helena Hunting is a complete luxurious package for a romance reader. It was entertaining, light hearted and rib-tickling goodness. It was also heartwarming, swoonworthy and poignant brilliance. It was a story that claimed my heart and marked it forever with the genius storytelling.
Received ARC for Honest Review
Making Up had everything in the story that kept my attention, witty banter, sizzling chemistry and characters that were a lot of fun to read about.
I loved Cosy, she has a unique name as well as what she does for a living. She’s different, young and quirky but also a really caring person. Enter Griffin, he’s a bit secretive but a whole lot of charming in a rather hot package. When these two meet, the chemistry is off the charts and despite a difference they get along famously, with her snark and his brawn, they are quite the match.
There is of course a lot of drama, so many laughs to be had and some moments where you think to yourself, oh no what will happen??? I really really enjoyed reading it so much so I finished it on a day. The author definitely has a knack for writing entertaining but also heartfelt stories. Loved it!!
Just Enough For You
Another great addition to this laugh-out-loud, sexy as sin, rom-com series! Every man in the Mills family is gifted with a face and body that will leave you drooling and a mouth that will leave you swooning. Griffin is the whole package!
The story begins with an epically funny & uncomfortable (for him) first meet! I just couldn’t stop smiling.
Cosy is a free spirited, hard working college student and just plain great. She works at an adult toy store. She meets a customer, sexy suit included, who looks like he could use some guidance.
Griffin is more than just a walking billboard for selling business suits…even though he’s super HOT! He’s just buying some gag gfits for a bachelor party…likely story!!
When weeks go by and Griffin just can’t get Cosy out of his head, he makes his move. And so their romance begins.
Get ready for an emotional ride. You’ll be getting an age gap romance with some drama. Griffin seems like a normal business man but when things start going well, it all begins to fall apart because the past gets in their way.
This series has incredible characters and it so well-written. Even when your heart is breaking, the author makes you smile with the wit and humor these characters constantly deliver. Oh and did I mention that their chemistry is OFF THE CHARTS? It’s an inferno!!! A definite must read if you love this series as much as I do.
Helena Hunting is a one click author for me! I have been anxiously waiting for last Mills brother to arrive and Helena did not disappoint!! He is sweet, slightly shy, yet commanding, he is absolute perfection and the wait was worth it!
Griffin Mills is the eldest Mills brother, yet very different from his two younger outspoken and don’t mind living in the spotlight brothers. Griffin is a numbers man, the traveler, and planner. He has helped build the Mills Hotel chain by being calculated, meeting Cosy Felton while he was shopping for gag gifts in a sex toy shop was not his usual style, but something told him she was worth the risk. She may be a little younger than he is, but he’s willing to take a chance, at least see what their connection is while he’s working in Vegas. If it doesn’t work out then no harm, he’s only in town for a couple months and they can end things when he leaves. Seems easy enough, that is until things get complicated.
Cosy was finishing her degree and working part-time in a sex shop when a gorgeous man in a suit came walking in. Sure lots of people came in everyday, but there was something different about this particular suit. Griffin was shy, downright awkward about being in the store and Cosy couldn’t help but be drawn to him. Even against her better judgement and her self appointed rule about dating customers, she gives in…hello he’s gorgeous. What she doesn’t find out until weeks later is Griffin is more than just a suit, he’s a hotel mogul billionaire suit. What is he doing with her?
Griffin is a serial monogamist, a billionaire, and a decade older with just a bit more baggage than Cosy, can he really offer her what she needs as she’s just getting started with her life, which includes diner milkshakes, no long term commitments, and barely affording rent?
Cosy has yet to see the world, she never makes plans, when she wants to go somewhere she just hops in her car and heads in a direction. Can she really offer Griffin a life of perfection when he is used to having everything at his fingertips and she’s a hot mess?
Cosy and Griffin are so imperfectly perfectly matched, that once they get over their own imperfections they wake up and realize just how perfect they are for each other. This is just one of the reasons I adore Helena’s writing! Make sure you add this one to your TBR now!
Read it in one siting. Cosy and Griffin were awesome. They shouldn’t have fit together and yet were somehow perfect. As per usual with Helena Hunting book, the humor was excellent and the angst was believable but didn’t want to make you scream. I haven’t read all three before this, but I was definitely not lost. Looking forward to the next in the series.
I started reading Making Up just after sunset and finished it at sunrise. Getting hooked on a book at daft o’clock usually means trying to get a couple of hours shut-eye in before making a move. My modus operandi went to pot! The only way to stop my thoughts racing was to jot them down on paper. What. A. Read! The magnificent job Hunting did with the plot and character development kept me engrossed from the first page to the last word written.
It was a joy meeting Cosy. Yeap, her name is a tad strange but oh-so-fitting. Wise beyond her years, her outlook on life and career ambitions I found totally refreshing. Juggling a job with her studies works perfectly well; she doesn’t need anyone for anything and her foolproof plan for the future seemed to be unbreakable.
“Hold up. Her name is Cosy? Like, let’s get cosy by the fire?”
“Yeah, or tea cosy, but the British spelling.”
Griffin Mills wasn’t on her agenda but let’s be honest; how could one resist such an irresistible guy who wears a suit like a second skin! Where they’d first met wasn’t exactly a place which made him feel comfortable. He came across as a tad shy and lacking in confidence, but his savoir-faire kicked in pretty darn quick. Getting to know him; what he did for a living, what he wanted and his true thoughts enthralled me.
“…You need to relax, Suit, you’re too buttoned up.”
The scorching hot chemistry between the two of them is so realistic and so palpable, it felt like the pages were going to ignite! However, an unexpected surprise which couldn’t have been revealed at a better moment literally floored me…lol, and Griffin!
“You named your vibrator?”
“He’s been around for years, and he never lets me down. I figured he deserved one.”
The most dramatic part of the story was held back until nearly three-quarters of the way into the read, throwing the protagonists and myself into a turmoil. Emotions run high and Cosy experiences feelings she’d never thought possible. Griffin. Well, he’s bloody furious with the whole debacle and having trouble finding a solution. Loved the advice from his cousin who I might add is gorgeous but the question is, will Griffin’s moral compass influence his decisions.
“You’re talking about her like you’re in a relationship with her.”
“It’s not a relationship.”
I floved the age gap. Despite not being one of the most important issues for either of them, Cosy teases Griffin quite a lot. Other concerns take precedence on a much more emotional level. I understood how Cosy felt, seeing as she’s so independent and I loved how Griffin respects her wishes.
“Yes. I’m your girlfriend and you’re my sugar daddy.”
Griffin rolls his eyes. “It’s a decade, Cosy. It’s not that big of a deal.”
“I know. I just like how much it irritates you when I say things like that.”
Cosy’s older sister is a case and a half and although she’s not very reliable, she does step up to the plate in a critical moment. Griffin’s folk are adorable, except there’s one black sheep in the family who knocks everyone for six with their deceptive ways. Won’t go into details but I’d gladly have given this individual and a couple more a hearty Kindle bashing!
Anyone who’s read my reviews knows that dialogue is my favourite thing and here Hunting has delivered in spades. This book gave me all the feels, lots of laughs, has the right amount of angst and regardless of the title which speaks for itself, I really enjoyed not being quite sure how the story was going to pan out. Bravo Hunting!

I devoured this read. I really enjoyed this age-gap forbidden storyline with a few twists. I was hooked from the beginning with Cosy and Griffin‘s banter. Their chemistry is scorching hot and I didn’t want to put it down. Definitely a must read in this series. I highly recommend this book.
A perfect addition to the ‘Shacking’ family.
Making Up by Helena Hunting was a fun, flirty, light-hearted romp, through the world of high-class hotels and sex toy stores. Not something you’d expect to come in contact with one another but in this quirky romance it sure does.
Griffin Mills has been tasked with the craziest bachelor party job ever, as far as he’s concerned. When he meets Cosy in the most unlikely of places, he’s drawn to her exuberance and pure unadulterated confidence.
Cosy dreams of travelling the world, not just the US as she works part-time towards her degree, while working in a store she’d never imagined herself in, but needs must and it’s not every day a gorgeous man in an expensive suit appears in her store. He’s a bit lost and kinda needy too.
She’s intrigued by him though and finds herself fixating on him.
Griffin is totally genuine, sweet and as he admits himself, he has no game. But, he does have a huge heart of gold, a caring side and just wants the kind of loving relationship his parents have. He just needs to find the right girl.
These two are outrageously funny together, they have a spitfire banter, sexual chemistry that could rival the Sun with its heat and they are just the perfect match. I loved them both.
The secondary characters were fun, both old and new… well most. Some needed a smack. But, thankfully they didn’t detract from the overall fabulous story. This was the fifth in the ‘Shacking Up’ series, but it can easily be read as a standalone.
Are you Ready For this laugh out loud, sexy summer read from the shaking up series? Cosy Felton enjoys her interesting job, well enjoys the paycheck, working in the adult toy shop until the very sexy Griffin Mills walks in needing help getting items for a batchelor party. He is gorgeous and not what she was expecting when she came to work that day. Can she help Griffin without him turning red with embarrassment? Griffin didn’t want to get stuck picking out sex toys for a bachelor party but when he meets the sales clerk he changes his tune real fast. Cosy and Griffin are adorable together. This is Book 4 in the series but can be read as a standalone. This is a feel good, easy read great for the summer! Told in dual POV. I love these Mills’ Brothers!
I really hope you are following the series that began with Shacking Up, Uh still love Bancroft and so far is my favorite. Anywho we met Griffin in that book and we knew that he was a long term relation and there are other secondary characters that you would understand the dynamics more and how some of the situations that arise will just make more sense. I liked Cosy and considering how serious Griffin was it became refreshing for him. I enjoyed the story, couldn’t believe that Armstrong just continues to get worse, and enjoyed the little tidbit of previous characters, that was also my only issue with this book, I wanted more from Bane and Ruby, and from Lex and Amalie, I so miss that crowd.

Welcome back to the world of the Mills men!
Griffin Mills is the last of the Mills brothers, and watching him fall was all kinds of lovely.
There is not only an age difference with gorgeous Cosy Felton, they could not be any more from different sides of the track if they tried.
And I don’t know, maybe having both tropes was a little OTT and we could have done without one of them, but that could just be me.
I love that Cosy doesn’t GAF what people think, that she is not looking for a sugar daddy, and is working her butt off to make a future for herself. She is sweet, sassy and snarky – I kind of love her more than Mills if I am being honest.
There is something that happens the ugh, why does they make that thing happen? It played out the way I thought it would in the end – so again, maybe not have been needed as Griffin and Cosy had enough to deal with – and again, this is probably just me
We didn’t see much of the other Mill’s bros and their gals, which I would have liked, but that wasn’t a big deal really, as I wanted to know more of Griffin and Cosy.
There were some great secondary characters that I want to be friends with, and other not so great ones that i wanted to visually throat punch hahah.
I did enjoy Making Up, and I look forward to seeing what Ms Hunting brings us next.
I’m loving that Cosy doesn’t have a filter. Also that Griffin doesn’t have time for games. He is honest and puts all the cards on the table when it comes to telling Cosy his feelings. Even if it panics her. It’s fun to read how Griffin is a master debater and manages to get on her nerves by making decisions and conveniently telling her the minimum. It makes it very entertaining. Because she is a trooper and she teaches him that not everything will go his way when he wants. And she will be the exception to all those people that serve his every need. Their journey feels very realistic in the way they talk and act. More than anything in the way they handle all their bumps in the road. This story is just full of life.

Oh how I love Helena Hunting books and the Shacking Up Series has been fantastic. Making Up is a great addition and one I enjoyed quite a bit. This book focuses on the third and final Mills brother, Griffin.
Griffin is one of the heirs to Mills Hotels. He works mostly with the numbers and is often sent to check out hotels that the company could potentially buy to increase their footprint around the world. He’s currently in Vegas to investigate the latest hotel in their cross-hairs. He’s recently been burned by his former fiancee, so he’s not looking for anything serious on the romance front.
Cosy Felton is a college student who is working to finish her degree, but she also works at a sex toy shop to earn a living while she does so. She’s young, only 22, and while she’s wiser than her years, she still awkward at times and is still learning about life. She loves adventure and is one of those kinds of people that lives each day to the fullest.
When Griffin encounters Cosy when he has to go buy items for his buddy’s bachelor party, he’s immediately taken by the pretty story clerk. He does something he never ever does and he goes back to the store weeks later to ask Cosy out. While neither is wanting something serious, they enjoy one another’s company, their chemistry is palpable and they just click. Will their age difference and the difference in their backgrounds end up and cause problems in the end? Or will they be able to overcome all the obstacles in their way and prevail?
I enjoyed these two characters and how this story unfolded. They may be from very different worlds, but they just seem to click. The things they had to overcome were real-life issues that I thought were tackled very well. I was surprised a couple of times by the way the story went, but I trusted Helena and in the end, it all worked out as it should.
I definitely would recommend adding this to your summer TBR!
