**”**Narrators Muffy Newtown and Jacob Morgan will make listeners blush and laugh their way through this Las Vegas-based romantic comedy in which the sin extends beyond the city…Newtown is great at emphasizing character individuality and sneaking humor into her delivery. A new standalone, laugh-out-loud romantic comedy by New York Times bestselling author Helena Hunting.
Cosy Felton is great at her job—she knows just how to handle the awkwardness that comes with working at an adult toy store. So when the hottest guy she’s ever seen walks into the shop looking completely overwhelmed, she’s more than happy to turn on the charm and help him purchase all of the items on his list.
Griffin Mills is using his business trip in Las Vegas as a chance to escape the broken pieces of his life in New York City. The last thing he wants is to be put in charge of buying gag gifts for his friend’s bachelor party. Despite being totally out of his element, and mortified by the whole experience, Griffin is pleasantly surprised when he finds himself attracted to the sales girl that helped him.
As skeptical as Cosy may be of Griffin’s motivations, there’s something about him that intrigues her. But sometimes what happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas and when real life gets in the way, all bets are off. Filled with hilariously awkward situations and enough sexual chemistry to power Sin City, Making Up is the next standalone in the Shacking Up world.

Making Up, a standalone romantic comedy in the Shacking Up series is the perfect summer read. An age gap, sassy heroine and awkward alpha hero, yes please! What happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas.
Steamy RomCom alert!!
Helena Hunting’s new release has all the makings of a page turner! Age gap, quirky characters, sassy heroine, damaged hero…I can’t wait to gobble this one up!
A fantastic story with amazing humor and quirky characters written in Helena’s signature style!
IN. LOVE.
This book owned me! Making up is everything I love about Helena Hunting’s writing. With a touch of angst, a lot of funny and heaps of magic! Do not miss out on this age-gap goodness!
3.5 STARS!
I started off the Shacking Up series backwards with I Flipping Love You, so in preparation for Making Up and Handle With Care I decided to binge read the series. With that being said, Helena Hunting has proven why she’s a favorite author and a queen of RomCom. Her stories have witty, sassy, fun, strong and independent women with equally strong men as their counterparts. So, to say I was excited to begin Making Up is a massive understatement!
I really enjoyed Griffin’s story but it wasn’t my favorite of the bunch. One thing I did love was seeing how different Griffin is from his two brothers. He might be the oldest Mills but he’s the most reserved and sensitive one. He’s jaded and he’s been hurt.
Meeting Cosy is unexpected and a breathe of fresh air but Griffin is quickly drawn to this fearless and brazen girl. Their encounter is one of those meet-cute moments you tell your grandchildren about! There’s an age gape between them, Cosy being 22 and Griffin 33. Though I was a bit peeved with Cosy at times with how she acted in some moments, it was something that could be overlooked.
These two were the perfect balance and they made a cute couple. I loved it. It was push and pull. Their relationship took time to grow and blossom. At first they’re hestiate but they give it a go anyway. Their chemistry is off the charts and together they’re fun and adventurous.
Overall, this book was so much fun and entertaining. You get small snippets of Lincoln and the Mills brothers. What I found unnecessary and even Cosy agreed, was the drama. It was just too much at times… But everything worked itself out and I loved how things turned out in the end for Griffin and Cosy.
Helena Hunting will captivate you with her writing and have you laughing and falling in love with these characters. Making Up was filled with equally fun and sweet moments. This is definitely a series you don’t want to miss out on. Now, I’m so ready for Lincoln’s book!
“I can’t risk falling for someone temporary. I can enjoy this time with him. He can be a fairy-tale chapter in my life.”
Truthfully, all I had to see was the author’s name on the sexy book cover, but after reading the synopsis I was very intrigued to get my hands on this latest standalone in the Shacking Up series. And I must say, it was even better than I anticipated.
Cosy is my latest girl crush. She’s sweet, funny and very laid back. She takes life as it comes and is not upset if things don’t move quickly. She’s impulsive and adapts to whatever life throws at her. Her job at the adult toy store pays the bills but it’s not her dream career. Though when sex in a suit walks through the door needing help with gag gifts for a bachelor party she’s not complaining about being there to assist. She’s used to being the eye candy, but this time she lucked out and got a treat for herself.
Griffin is embarrassed to reveal his sex toy shopping list to the beautiful sales girl. He knows she probably thinks he’s a pervert and won’t ever consider dating him. But he can’t stop thinking about her. What will it take for her to give him a chance?
This story is guaranteed to make you swoon. There’s sweet and sexy, fun and flirty, secrets and surprises, mysteries and misunderstandings, and best of all love and laughter. I loved it and I know you will too.
For whatever reason, I happened to read this book before any of the others in the series. And obviously, after reading this, I had to go back and read the other books about these brothers.
Griffin, the older serious brother, who had been a relationship in previous books we find, is no longer attached. He’s the buttoned-up brother, by the way. And he’s been sent on a shopping expedition in Vegas to purchase sex toys. The sex shop is where we meet Cosy, the girl working at the store. She’s bubbly, cute, and not embarrassed to show off the store’s wares. Griffin is charmed.
From there, we watch this relationship that, in many ways, makes no sense come to make a whole lot of sense. She’s still in school to earn a degree in hotel management. Griffin’s family owns hotels. Griffin is more than ten years older than Cosy. All of the things war within both Cosy and Griffin as they try to figure out what their relationship should be. Luckily for us, things work out with some romance, humor, some cameo appearances from previous books, and one good fistfight.
This book is utterly charming, and Griffin ends up being one of the best boyfriends ever merely because he’s Griffin. Cosy is one lucky girl. And this one beautiful book.
Making Up uses one of my favorite romance tropes with the Older Man/Younger Woman love story, then it combines that with one of my least favorite plot devices for the required bit of angst. I won’t go into details on that so as not to give spoilers, but it just felt unnecessary to me. That said, it was handled a little differently than the norm, so that was a plus. Other than that one drawback, this story is hands down my favorite in this series of standalones. Griffin and Cosy are both terrific characters and they just fit together even when they’re butting heads. Cosy is outgoing and fun, and an absolute hoot, and she certainly knows how to keep the sexy Griffin on his toes. Griffin does a bit more groveling than I care for in a male love interest, but he’s so darn adorable about it that it’s impossible not to love him. The story is witty and fun, and makes for a great weekend read, especially if you’re looking for an HEA.
This is book four in the Shacking Up series but you can read the books as standalone if you so wish.
I have read all the previous books in this series so far and I have very much enjoyed them.
I did enjoy the book and it is well written. As per usual I have loved the characters
and the story.
I do give it a 4 out of 5
It can be tricky to make an alpha male hero that’s as awkward and funny as he is sexy, but Helena managed it beautifully with this fun, quirky, steamy standalone. Check it out!
This book is only part of the series. The Shacking Up Series is one of most entertaining ones that is out there.
Cosy and Griffin are the perfect remedy to a bad day! Making Up has a way of making you feel better.
It might be because Cosy is a riot and blatantly honest! Griffin is a sweetheart that needed the right woman to bring him to life.
Hilarious, witty, sexy – all the things an amazing romantic comedy should be, and Helena Hunting nails it in a way that only she can!
I love this series and how they are all interconnected! Cosy is use to being a wanderer. She has that independent and adventurous spirit. Griffin is more logical and a planner. These two just were so adorable together. I loved the humor, sparking chemistry and how they made so much sense despite the little age difference. The twists made the story a page turner where I couldn’t wait to see how they were going to move past the bumpy road thrown at them. Every single time I read a book about this family I end up with a smile on my face and laughter in my heart.
FLOVE Griffin and Cosy’s story! In perfect Helena form, there’s humor, heat, and a swoony romance. Highly recommended!
Cosy and Griffin are teh BEST summer read. You deserve to have a great, fun week and this book will make it so. Hunting is FUNNY and touching and at her best.
Y’all! Helena Hunting has been an autobuy for me since Pucked. I love how this woman writes! Go grab your copy of Making Up!
I have yet to read a Helena Hunting book I didn’t absolutely love. Cosy and Griffin were fantastic, both hurt from past relationships, both finding their own ways to deal with what life threw at them. From the start, their time together was perfect, a slow build to something that warmed my heart. I loved them both, individually and as they came together.
With more than a decade between them, their various ways of dealing with life wasn’t a big surprise, but it was so on key with how they should have been. Cosy was young and fun and unwilling to settle in one place, Griffin was older and wiser, though impulsive and different because of the way his family’s fortune allowed him to live. These two were so sweet, and I was pulling for them through everything that was thrown at them.
Another fantastic book I’m so glad I was able to read!
My cheeks still hurt from smiling so hard at Making Up. It had everything I love in a Helena Hunting book- a sassy and sarcastic heroine. A hero with a big ego but bigger heart. A hair of drama and loads of laughs.
I adored Cosy and her brand of awkward. But she also lived life on her own terms and didn’t apologize for who she was. To say the way that her and Griffin met was unconventional would be an understatement. They came from vastly different worlds and that was what made it the perfect recipe for a whole lot of fun and fornicating and fighting and in turn, forgiveness.
Though their lives were totally pulling them one way or the other, Griffin and Cosy were just what each other needed. Both of their hearts were so big that they made the hard choices when they had to. Even when doing the right thing put their own happiness on the back burner.
Let me just say that Helena Hunting gave this book the perfect title (you’ll see). From start to finish, Making Up was a true delight to read. There was humor and heat and so much heart. I couldn’t help but root for Cosy and Griffin to get over their preconceived notions about each others status and just be together. And that ending, the flutters and giggles are still in full force just thinking about it.
