Gwen Alexandra does not need a man in her life. Especially not a man who looks like Chris Hemsworth and Joe Manganiello’s love child. One wearing leather, riding a Harley, and covered in tattoos.
Gwen can bet every pair of her Manolo’s that Cade Fletcher is trouble. From the moment she meets him, the attraction sizzles between them. Gwen has a problem when it comes to attractive men in … men in motorcycle clubs. The last one she got involved with almost killed her.
After healing physically, Gwen decides to get a new start in a small town, half a country away from the man who nearly cost her her life. She isn’t in town five minutes when she runs into Cade, a man that is too sexy and dangerous for his own good.
She tries to keep away from him, to ignore the attraction between them. But the biker has other ideas, soon she is in way over her head, and her heart, and her life are in danger once again.

I love MC books they are my top genre so when I saw this I was so haooy. I loved Gwen and Cade’s story and the different characters that you meet along the way. Excellent read by this author.
Well I think I have just found a new book boyfriend! Gwen was right ‘the man was some kind of crazy sex wizard!’
So I have totally read this series out of order. I read book 3 first and then 4 and now back to 1!
I loved Cade and Gwens story, I’d read about them before but seeing how they got together was the icing on the cake for me.
But no way was anyone overtaking Bulls top spot on my list!
As for the ladies….I need Amys story so Firestorm is next!
Making the Cut is the first in the Sons of Templar series. I have read this book several times, never able to quite find the words to put in a review. That’s because the words for how wonderful this book actually is do not exist. But I will try!
I wish I could give this book more than 5 stars!!!!!
Gwen and Cade’s story is a romantic journey that you’ll want to live over and over. The balance of drama, humor, and especially love is absolute perfection.. You will fall in love with the entire Sons Family, just as I have. Amber, CA will become your favorite fictional small town, as it is mine. And you’ll want Gwen’s wardrobe. Especially her shoes.
If you love biker intense books this is it. Cade is a Beautiful sexy hot alpha male . Gwen is a strong girl on a mission to not be a victim. Absolutely loved this book. Hard, rough , full of drama, pain, twist, betrayal highly intense book. From page one your on edge with the roller coaster of emotions. This is a can not put down book. Definitely a must have in your library. All the characters are likable. Can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
Gwen Alexandra thought she had met the man for her only to be betrayed by him in the worst possible way. After her wounds heal, she leaves for a small town in California to begin anew with her best friend and open a shop. Gwen has no intentions of getting involved with another bad boy again, but it only takes a few minutes before another one enters her life.
Biker Cade Fletcher knows Gwen will be his, she puts up a few walls along the way but he has every plan to knock each and everyone down. When an outside gang continues to cause trouble and it looks like a threat from Gwen’s past is intent on revenge, Cade protects her as best he can.
Loved this one, look forward to more by Anne Malcolm. Strong heroine who is still haunted but she is determined to survive. Loved Cade, he is a hardass but is so determined to love and cherish Gwen it is beautiful. New favorite series.
To be honest, I don’t know what to say. Have you ever discovered an author that just absolutely leaves you atounded? And as you get knee deep into more of their work, you uncover all these emotions and a deep sense of gratitude you never knew you had in you? Yeah. Anne is that author for me. I discovered her this year and her books just continue to steal my breath away. Her stories are the perfect combination of lust, love, angst & drama. Her Heroes are Alpha to the bone. Her heroines are sassy chicks with a whole lotta backbone & stubborness. And that’s what this story was.
I know I’m extremely late to the party but I’ve finally made it to reading this series. Having reading the Unquiet Mind duet first, I was a bit hesitant. Mostly, because I began to doubt that any other book of hers could live up to those books.
But soon I was consumed by the story of Gwen and Cade. I devoured this story like air to my lungs. Cade is every bit an alpha and his aggressiveness and possessiveness gets my heart racing every single time. Just when I think I couldn’t fall in love with him anymore he goes ahead and does something swoon worthy. I fell in love with him almost instantly. I absolutely LOVED the way he was with Gwen.
And Gwen. She makes me proud to be a female. She’s independent, strong and so damn Brave, I was in awe of who she was as person. Oh and let’s not forget about the panty melting sex in this book. Whether it be an aggressive mauling or a slow sensual build up, this book got me so heated.
There were a few parts that I felt were dragged out and unnecessary in this book. Also a few other parts that felt forced or rushed, but they weren’t that bad. Because overall this book was amazing and I am looking forward to reading the next few books. The ending was a bit abrupt bit I guess we’ll get to see them again in the next book!
Absolutely amazing read!
5 New beginnings Stars on Goodreads
Making the Cut starts of quite graphic, with a brutal attack on Gwen. Not for the faint hearted I tell you. Not only is she attacked but its by her biker boyfriend. Fast forward a year and Gwen has decided she needs to start all over again somewhere new. She moves along with her best friend Amy and they open their dream shop. Gwen has no intentions of getting involved with anyone anytime soon, but life has a way of dropping things in your path whether you want them of not.
Cade Fletcher knows Gwen will be his, but Gwen wants nothing to do with him. Not only has she swon of men, She will never go near a biker again. But Cade knows Gwen will be his, she puts up her walls but he has every plan to knock them all down no matter how long it takes.
This was a really enjoyable read, I could feel their connection straight off and was really invested in the both of them throughout the book. This was mainly told in Gwen’s POV, but it had a few parts in Cade’s POV. I would have liked more. I also love great secondary characters and this book was not short of them. Amy was brilliant and so where a lot of others. A line up for other books within this series which is very smart. Also free on kindle unlimited.
This was my first read from Anne Malcom and it definitely wont be my last, I’m dying to read the next book in the series.
An interesting, intriguing, captivating, and thrilling ride to go on. I just wish we got more of Cade’s POV. But overall it was a great story.
I am a avid MC series reader. I am kicking my own butt as to how I only discovered Anne Malcolm’s work last year.
What a fantastic start to a series. We find Gwen new to town and running into Cade the VP of the local MC Sons of Templar. Now I usually am not a huge fan of instant love but I caught the big with Cade and Gwen. Even I could not fight the charms of Cade. Gwen fought it longer than I did but in the end she too was hooked.
The overall story had not only lots of action and suspense intwined with romance and laughter.
Making The Cut is the first book in the Sons of Templar MC series. The story held my interest until the end. It was raw and graphic , sweet and hilarious and even emotional at times and I could not put it down. I liked the characters. Both Gwen and Cade had that chemistry from the start inspite of Gwen’s misgivings. This novel had drama, suspense action, romance and a cast of secondary characters that greatly added to the story. I enjoyed it and would recommend it to all lovers of MC romance.
The audiobook version was narrated by Emma Wilder. She had great pace and timing and a pleasant voice. I enjoyed listening to her narrate this novel.
I’m sad to say this was my first Anne Malcom book because holy crap, what rock have I been hiding under? I love the lady dearly but found myself always pushing back on reading her books because…well who the hell knows. But I finally did and I absolutely flipping loved this story so much. Every word in my head was being said in Anne’s Kiwi accent and so many things just clicked throughout the story. Gwen and Cade should never work (at least in the real world that we know) but when it is meant to be, it is meant to be. It is definitely not without it’s issues though and i spent much time crying, screaming, laughing and yes, swooning throughout the book. High fashion and MC hardarse connect in a story that will have you doing the same.
First book by Anne Malcom and I loved it! I loved Cade and Gwen together. They just worked. He was all Alpha possessive with the protective sweet side and she was all Sassy Mouth with designer clothes. After all that she endured, I am glad the author showed us that Gwen was a fighter. Great story packed with so many feels. I can’t wait to read more of her books.
Audiobook review
I read this book a few years ago and loved it so I was really excited to see it available on Audible Escape. I thought Emma Wilder did a wonderful job narrating this book, I loved her New Zealand accent!
This author is one of my favorites out there right now and I’ve loved the Sons of Templar MC series so it was really fun to go back to the beginning again, especially re-visiting some of the secondary characters before their own HEA.
Now having read almost all of Anne Malcom’s books, there is always going to be angst and characters being put through the wringer. Gwen’s story definitely has that. The things that Gwen went through was brutal and unimaginable but to see her ability to move on was awesome. She had such a great support system. Cade was the ultimate bad boy alpha, from the very first sight of Gwen, he knew he needed her in his bed. As hard as Gwen tried to stay away from another biker, Cade was relentless with his pursuit. Chemistry between these two were intense and off the charts. And even after they were finally together, so much heartbreak was to come, including with some of the secondary characters (that was gut-wrenching!)
I loved Gwen and Cade so much, they definitely had their ups and downs, but the love for each other was so strong we knew they could get through anything.
Wow! My first book by this author and I loved it!
Alpha biker -Tick
Action – Tick
Danger – Tick
Hotness – Tick
Basically, it ticked all the boxes for me in an MC read and I can’t wait to read more in the series. The cherry on the cake was this was a free read with KU or only 0.99. I love a bargain.
Gwen and Cade, I loved these characters.
Gwen doesn’t half go through it in this story, she moves to the USA from New Zealand with her friend with hopes and dreams, falls for a biker, the wrong sort of biker I may add, gets strung up, beaten and nearly gang-raped all because she witnesses something she wasn’t supposed to ever see, spends months in hospital. Finally, she moves on and starts her own business with her best friend in a little town and on her first day attracts Cade’s attention, a local biker. Gwen isn’t interested, been there done that and nearly got her self killed but Cade not only is he different but he doesn’t take no for an answer.
Cade,…well all I can say is “fan me down” if you like a bossy protective alpha biker who is a bit of a caveman, Cade is the man.
There are lot’s of moments in Making the cut, I have swooned, laughed, loved the angst as well as feeling the love for the extended characters.
Turf wars, kidnapping, it literally had it all going on.
Looking forward to more in the series which is available in Ku.
Told in first person dual pov. Leads to hea.
Outstanding! How I haven’t read Anne’s books before is absolutely mind blowing. The details, corky banter, drama and romance had me eager to finish this monster of a book.
All the feels. A fantastic story that merged two completely different lives and created a family.
Finally i have picked up an Anne Malcom book i have been recommended her books time and time again and i am so glad i finally picked up Making the Cut.
I haven’t read an MC book in forever and i was so glad for the genre change. I love it when you first dive into an MC book because i love learning about all the characters and the brotherhood of the MC club.
If your looking for a hell of an alpha which MC guys pretty much are all alpha but Cade he was to the extreme and i loved it, sometimes when he was yelling at Gwen i felt like i was getting told off but geez did that make him sexier.
Gwen was a fantastic character who had been through so much and went through so much more but she was one hell of a strong character and i loved reading her get even stronger.
This book had you excited for what was to come in the edge of your seat for what else could happen and heartbreak as well this was such a well rounded story with some from steamy sexy times in there as well.
I loved the story line of this book and Anne Malcom’s writing is so good and i really can’t wait to get into more of her books and this series especially the next book because Brock & Amy were so funny in the first book and you know that they are going to have one hell of a ride.
I love an alpha biker man and Cade fits that bill to a T. It took me awhile to warm upto Gwen as her personality flips between old soul and immature. As the book progressed my opinion changed and by the end I was routing for her. Cade knows what he wants and goes all out to win Gwen over. I loved the mix of passion and drama. Good start to a new series.
This is my first book by this author and I absolutely loved it. I need more Cade. I mean come on. Who doesn’t love a dangerous, sexy as sin, tattooed man on a Harley? Drama, angst, intrigue, page turning goodness.
What an amazing start to a series! I was sucked in from the first chapter. After a difficult past, Gwen decides to move away and start her life over with her best friend in tow. They decide on a small beach town in California, and unbeknownst to them, has elements of what Gwen was running from right in town. Cade is high up in his MC and when he sees Gwen he is instantly hooked. Throughout the story, they work through the damage Gwen’s past has done on her in relation to the decisions and choices she makes in present time, and Cade with his own things to work through as well. I absolutely love Anne’s style of writing and the flow of the storyline. I didn’t feel like the book was too long or short, and it provided me enough background information to understand the characters and the decisions they make and to not leave me asking more questions. I also love that this is the start of a series where we can look forward to getting to know all the other secondary characters we meet throughout the book. I loved the suspense of questioning what would happen next and the foreshadowing was great within both the book and future books. I can’t wait to read the next installment in the Sons of Templar world!
5 WHAT A RIDE STARS!! OMG….I absolutely loved Cade and Gwen!! Their story hit all my emotion button in such the perfect way, I was was smiling, sad, laughing, mad and so in love. These two will take you on a crazy ride that will stick with you forever. Anne Malcom is by far one of my favorite authors, this beautiful woman can write.
