Determined to remove herself from the rules regulations of her overbearing religious parents, Avery escapes to college and is determined to make it on her own. Working as a bartender, and mere weeks before her college graduation, she finds herself face to face with thirty members of an Outlaw Motorcycle Club.
She had no idea when the President of the club walked in she’d go weak in the knees for … weak in the knees for the gorgeous tattooed biker.
Axton (aka Slice) is the President of the Selected Sinners MC. At the onset of a huge gun deal with a notorious prison gang, he has no time or desire to have a woman in his life. Abused by his Hell’s Angel father as a child, and wronged by every woman in his past, Axton has one devotion – the MC.
After finding out he needs Avery’s Criminal Justice education and her linguistic skills to assist in making the gun deal a success, Axton reluctantly approaches her to act as his interpreter.
Hoping to win Axton over, Avery attempts to turn off her smart mouth, turn on her charm, and become his woman of interest; even if it means sacrificing a level of independence she’s grown accustomed to.
But when the gun deal goes to hell in an hand basket, both Avery and Axton are left wondering what their next move may be.
NOTE TO READERS Making the Cut is a stand-alone love story. It does have graphic violence, explicit language, sexual situations, and the intricacies of being in an Outlaw Motorcycle Club depicted. I absolutely live Scott Hildreth’s writing style, its unique, captivating, and unbelievably intriguing. I read this book a long time ago, and loved it then but taking this ride again made me realize just how fantastic it was. Nothing is better than a Mr. Hildreth story. This was an exhilarating journey to go on with Avery and Axton (Slice). I enjoyed this book immensely.
This summer break is doing wonders for my TBR!! I am finding books on my kindle that I hadn’t realise were there! I have them set in collections by author and this had some how slipped through the net! Anyhoo, I digress!
The friendship between Axton (Slice) and Avery is a slow burn and I loved getting to know each of them individually. Slice is the President of the Selected Sinners MC and as such is a no nonsense, bada$$ who will stop at nothing to protect his MC and his brothers, expecting loyalty from those who stand with him. Avery keeps her circle small, between college, her best friend and room mate Sloan and the bar she works at. On one such night the MC call into the bar where Avery works and a friendship of sorts is struck up. Then Slice realises he needs her help with a deal and when things hit the fan, Avery shows that she is no wallflower.
This book had me gasping for breath one minute and laughing out loud the next! I really need to catch up with the rest of this series!!
5 “Progress” Stars! I enjoyed this book so much, I didn’t want to put it down. One of the many things that I love about this author is A. His writing B. I like to call them “Life Lessons” or reflections, if you will, in his writing. And C. He can go from sweet to raunchy to wow, you just went there! I thought this was a great MC book. There was quite a bit that went down, so there was never a dull moment.
I will tell you that this part right here I absolutely loved from the book.
“Respect. In the hustle and bustle world of the modern age, the general population has forgotten how to be respectful. Most of what would make us more courteous as adults was drilled into our heads as children. Don’t touch it if it isn’t yours. Don’t lie. Don’t cheat. Don’t steal. Use the words please, thank you, and excuse me in everything you do. Think before you act. If someone serves you something, eat it out of respect without complaint. Stand up for what you believe in. If you make a mistake, be man enough to admit it. Don’t say you’re going to do something unless you have every intention of following through with your promise.”
See, this is what I’m talking about! I know it sounds silly, but I wanted to stand up and applaud this. RESPECT! I recommend ALL of his books. You gotta check out Finding Parker and especially his Fighter Series (so good!).
P.S. Dear Vee, I have a huge girl crush on you. That is all. Love, Me.
This is very good storytelling. MC with MC business,.fear and danger. An attraction that is fought against and pursued. A love story. A story of MC family. Gentleness and acceptance found. Quite a satisfying and left a good taste in my mind
A great book full of bad boy, sexy as hell bikers who are loyal almost to a fault. They play hard. Fight harder and love completely!
