DaniAs a bestselling romance author, most assume my life’s glamorous, filled with combustible chemistry, and most of all, romance.Ha! I can only wish. With a deadline looming, I’ve escaped to my family’s cabin on Anderson Island to free myself from distractions. My plan’s great, until a man, who could pass as a cover model on one of my books, comes to my rescue. Is there chemistry? Sure. Is he … rescue.
Is there chemistry? Sure. Is he everything I’d look for in a guy?
Absolutely. But will my career be at risk if I give into my desire?
Luke
For a player, women line up outside the locker room. For coaches, we’re lucky to get in the game.
As the youngest NFL coach in the league, I live, eat, breathe, and even sleep football. To gear up for this season, I return to my home on Anderson Island for a much-needed break. When Dani literally crashes into my life, my mind’s suddenly on the sexy brunette with a sailors mouth, rather than my team’s next play.
She has me dusting off another playbook entirely, making me wonder, did I make the right call?

Dani and Luke are both singularly focused on their careers. Dani is a bookworm, romance writer. Luke has just become the youngest head football coach in the league after his mentor retires. From their initial meeting after Dani has a bike accident near Luke’s vacation house, their chemistry is clear. Luke questions if it is the right time for him to pursue a relationship with so much going on in his career. Dani has similar thoughts but is charmed by Luke’s genuine interest in her and support of her career. What ensues is the unraveling the obstacles between their two lifestyles as two driven people give everything to love each other like they’ve done for their careers.
I could go on about this book and how much I loved every minute of reading it, but then I’ll end up telling you the whole story and you should really experience the pleasure of this story for yourself. Making The Call is a feel good love story – no angst, no heartbreak, no feeling torn between two love interests and no tears. The characters are down to earth and so likeable. I enjoyed the banter between Dani and Luke. All in all, it was well written with an interesting story line.
I guarantee you won’t be disappointed if you are in need of a wonderful heartwarming and sexy story. This was my first book by this author and I look forward to reading more.
Thank you to the author for providing me with an advance reading copy in exchange for an honest review.
I absolutely loved reading about Dani and Luke. What happens when a minor accident has you meeting a handsome man. Just ask Dani. She is an author living on Anderson Island. When she meets Luke, it’s one thing right after another. He played football and just got a coaching job making him the youngest coach. Dani really doesn’t know the extent of his job at first but when she finally does, will that affect the obvious attraction between the two? I loved the chemistry and the fun banter these two have. Both have very different career paths that keep them apart more times than not. Can they possibly make a relationship work? Dani nor Luke have never really had any luck in that department. They take us on such an amazing journey and seem to really try to see each other as much as possible. Will it be enough in the end? Wait and see, you will definitely want to know. Dani is hoping to make a movie deal from one or more of her books. Luke is trying to get his team to a championship. These two things will be answered also. I couldn’t put this book down.
Luke is recently named the as the head coach for the Reiner Renegades making him the youngest head coach in NFL history. He has devoted his life to football and coaching but the week before the season starts he heads to his home on an island off the coast of Seattle for to get away from it all for a week. On his first day there Dani comes crashing into his life – literally, she crashes her bike just as he was out for a morning run. Dani has moved to her family’s home on the island as it is a bit of muse for her writing – she is best selling romance author. Neither one was looking to start anything with their busy schedules but they can’t deny their pull to each other so they give it ago.
This was a fun and sweet read. Luke was such a tremendously sweet and caring guy. I adored him and would like one of my own. I loved how well these two clicked and gelled together. They really seemed to form a natural and organic relationship. It was a bit of a rocky road but it had some funny moments. Really enjoyed Luke and Dani’s story.
Dani and Luke both live in a small spotlight, she a romance author and he a pro football coach. After an unexpected interaction, both deal with physical attraction and emotions. Can this pair make a go of it?
What a cute and romantic story! This was an entertaining and enjoyable read. A fun and unique story and full of great moments, not a lot of drama involved, but somtimes that’s just the type of book that you need to help you wind down. This book will pull you right in and keep you engaged and smiling all the way through. The author does a great job of bringing the story to life with great characters that are lovable and endearing. Loved this story and I definitely recommend it!

This was a good read. It was cute and I liked the characters. There were sets that were a little too slow but all in all a good read.
Luke was offered a pro contract but injury put paid to that a d now he has been offered the job of The Head Coach for the Rainier Renegade’s and he is really looking forward to the challenge as it is the team that he wanted to play for before his injury and now that he has excepted the job he realises that all his hard work has paid off. Dani is a author and while out riding her bike she has a accident that Luke sees happen so he stops to help her and takes her to his house to clean her wounds, one of the best things is that Dani doesn’t recognize Luke and that makes it really nice change. Luke and Dani start to spend some time together and there connection and chemistry between them is so strong but Luke is only there for a few days and then he will be traveling with his team and Dan I has deadlines coming up for her books. Will this be enough for them or have they both got too many commitments to keep them apart. Omg I love this book so much and it is a real page turner and so addictive. Amanda Shelley is a brilliant author and writer and she is becoming one of my favourite authors. I definitely recommend you read this book and other’s by her and you will definitely not be disappointed.

Danika is a romance writer who writes under a pen name, Luke is an NFL coach recently appointed and the youngest one too. They meet on Anderson Island when Danika has a biking accident.
It was cute and interesting to have characters like them as I don’t think they’re a common trope, there’s little drama or angst in this.

Who wouldn’t fall in love with Dani and Luke. From the moment I picked up the book, I was wanting to know what was going to happen. Both Dani and Luke prefer to live life unknown, all the while, living the life that they both had dreamed of. When they meet, life as they both loved and wanted, will forever change.
So I just fall in love and don’t want to end my relationship with this one, great book it was sweet, romantic, funny and it had everything you wish in a romance story. The words grab me from the beginning and I couldn’t put it down, loved this one.
This was such a light hearted and sweet read!! Luke and Dani are in their late 20s. He’s the youngest NFL coach in history and she’s a bestselling author.
This book was exactly what I needed. An Ian Somerhalder doppelganger, very little angst and a happily ever after. It even gave me one of my favorite things; a epilogue that time jumps into the future
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC and this is my honest reveiw
I liked this story! Amanda Shelley is a new-to-me author and I love her simple, straightforward writing style. Just a man and a woman who meet, like each other, spend some time together and fall in love. There are complications along the way and they meet them head on. It made for a lovely read!
Luke is the youngest head coach in the NFL. In the week before his first season as head coach, he heads for his home in Anderson island, off the Puget sound. During one of his runs, he witnesses a woman falling from her bike and goes on to rescue her. And bam, our love story starts. He’s attracted enough that after the rescue and first aid, he buys the broken part for her bike and offers to fix it. Then they start to spend time together and by the time Luke has to leave for his football season, he just doesn’t want to leave it there.
Likewise, Danika is enthralled by Luke. She doesn’t have a clue who he is in the football world, but sees him as this wonderful man, considerate, wonderful company, interested in her writing world. The fact that he’s a hottie does not come amiss. There are frequent references to gorgeous inky black hair and electrical blue eyes. They are a great fit because she’s as committed and disciplined about her writing as he is to managing his team. They spend lovely times together, each pounding in their respective laptops. I found this to be so engaging, since my husband and I do the same. We are each engrossed in our world, but we are together and that’s what matters.
I loved that, in this story, Danika is a romance book author. She was adorable and dorky and at times, a little socially clumsy. I loved reading about the writing process, all the discipline it takes, the follow through with edits, the daily word count assignation, the sudden inspiration of a plot, and the characters talking to her in her head. She would zone out for hours at a time, writing out her story and Luke was happy to wait and tend to her food while she zoned out. And when he needed to work and she was so understanding, it made her the perfect girlfriend in his demanding world.
The development of the story was simple, the pace was slow but steady and the character development fantastic. It’s one of those books you read to enjoy, not to bite your nails in suspense or tear out your hair in frustration. You just meander with them as they live out their story, fall in love and take it to the end. Lovely!
Making the Call is a good read. Dani and Luke are great characters. Dani is a romance author. She’s pretty down to earth and it’s fun to read the parts where inspiration to write comes to her. Luke is the youngest NFL coach. He’s humble and doesn’t understand why the public would be interested in him because he’s the coach not a player. There are things that pop up along the way in their relationship and these two just roll with it. I kept waiting for something major to pop up to threw these two for a loop but this one is not really angsty. It’s a sweet nice story.
4 1/2 Stars!
4 Stars!!
I’ve been meaning to pick up Ms.Shelley’s work and I’m so glad that I got the chance to with Making the Call! Just like when I read the synopsis, this story grabbed my attention really quickly. I enjoyed this story so much!
From their memorable beginning to the sweet moments that kept me smiling, Dani and Luke’s journey was such a unique one! I connected with these two characters even more through Dani’s love for writing and Luke’s love for coaching.
I loved getting to see different sides to these characters and how their chemistry was all kinds of blushworthy. I didn’t want to stop reading and I had to finish it one sitting!
With Making the Call, Ms.Shelley created such a wonderful read that brightened my day! This is exactly the kind of story that I needed in my life this month. I’m kicking myself for not having picked up her work sooner and I can’t wait to read more of her words!
*I volunteered to read and review a copy of this book from Wildfire Marketing Solutions / the author*
Making The Call, the latest novel by Amanda Shelley is a sweet, easy to read romance with low drama and angst. I liked the idea of a romance author and a head football coach as the main characters as they seem to be so different yet fit so well together. I enjoyed watching the romance develop between Luke and Dani , they had great chemistry from the moment they met and this was a story of insta lust/love and how these two can merge their lives and really be there for each other, inspite of the demands of their job. Making The Call was a great read and I would recommend it to lovers of low angst romance.
I absolutely LOVED this story! From start to finish I was hooked and I didn’t want to put it down because I was dying to know how things were going to work out between Luke and Dani. The two had such amazing chemistry and I couldn’t get enough of either one of them.
This story had it all! Great writing, a wonderful story line, fabulous characters and just enough drama to keep you on the edge of your seat.
This is a must read book for sure!

This is my first time reading Amanda Shelley, I was given the opportunity to read an early copy of this story and the description caught my eye immediately. I loved that this story was about a football coach and a writer. It’s a different feel good story that is absolutely needed right now. I have been trying to read as many books like this as possible because it’s just what we all need right now. This story is an absolute must read.
