I fell quickly and deeply in love with Nicholas Moore. He was my prince charming and I was ready for the happily ever after.Only he taught me that fairy tales don’t exist. That love and life can be cruel. He wasn’t the person I thought he was when he kicked me out without warning while pregnant with his child just weeks away from our wedding day.Now he’s back, begging to be forgiven. Regretting his … back, begging to be forgiven. Regretting his actions and words.
He wants a second chance to put our family back together.
I can’t trust him.
I can’t trust him with my heart, even though it stills yearns for him after all these years.
The problem? Our daughter adores him and I would do just about anything to make her happy. Even if that means making the same mistake again.
Do I take the risk of getting another heart broken by the same man or tell him goodbye once and for all?

Making It Right
Helen Wilder
Making It Right is a sweet, slow burn, second chance romance. It’s filled with compassion, trials and the tribulations that this couple endured over the years. I was sucked into Nicholas and Alannah’s story from page one. There were many different emotions that rolled off the pages. The author wrote in such depth, that as the reader I was able to be apart of this beautiful love story. In the end I was cheering for Nicholas, Alannah and Charlie to find there happily ever after.
A love like theirs is something that happens once in a lifetime.
Now this is a second chance romance that didn’t steer me wrong! After an awful breakup, nick realizes just how wrong he was after a few years. He makes it his mission to get Alannah back and to know his child. There wasn’t OW drama, there wasn’t OTT madness, and there WAS a reason for Nick’s delayed return to Alannah’s life that I honestly wasn’t expecting. This author gave me a great story, a few WTF moments I never saw coming, and realism in the end. It was all so well done.
Top 5 reasons I enjoyed this story…
1. Second Chance Romance
2. The amount and description of sexy time was perfect
3. Perfect read for a cold Sunday afternoon
4. Fully fleshed out story and characters
5. A little girl named “Charlie”

This was such a heartbreaking beautiful second chance romance. There were so many emotions in this great story, anger, hurt, betrayal, trust, loyalty, forgiveness and love. I couldn’t stop reading until I finished this wonderful, sweet, thrilling, yummy love story. I’m so glad that Alannah made Nick work for his forgiveness and not give in right away. Loved this story and I can’t wait to read more.
This is everything you want in a second chance romance! This is real, raw and beautiful.. We have Nicholas and Alannah who were madly in love, ready to get married but then with a drop of a hat, things fell apart.. Why you ask? A moment that should have been beautiful turned into Alannah’s worst nightmare.. Fast forward almost 5 years later, the hurt on both sides is still there and still raw as ever.. Alannah, despite being broken beyond belief and pregnant, picks herself up and lives her life. She has never stopped loving Nick, despite everything.. She’s tried to move on but when fate steps in, it gets kinda hard when feelings come up, seeing how much he has changed and what he’s been thru in the 4 years since he’s been gone. Oh and how he is with their daughter… I will say that I loved that she didn’t cave and just fall at his feet. She made him work for it, open up his heart to not only her but to both families and close friends. He had to make amends to those he’d hurt. There’s so many gut wenching moments in this book but there’s also some good ones as well. He has a very good connection with Alannah and their daughter and have some really cute moments together. There’s some scary times that shows him how strong he truly is and how much he wants/needs them in his life. I loved both him and Alannah. I loved how we felt the characters shame, guilt, love and forgiveness throughout the story. I was sucked into this book and felt everything. This was a great book with strong characters in it!! Fantastic book!!
Nick and Alannah go through some many challenges. How do you trust again when someone breaks you. They both have to learned to trust and understand each other for the sake of Charlotte. Great
This was the first book that I have read by Helen Wilder and it certainly won’t be my last. I do not know if I have it in me to give that kind of forgiveness. I like to think that I have grown in my age but it is really hard for me to forgive sometimes.
This was the first book that I have read by Helen Wilder and it certainly won’t be my last! I absolutely loved this book! Alannah and Nick’s story was phenomenal! There was so much emotion and chemistry.
It’s not easy admitting to like characters that by principle you want to hate. Nick and Alannah are determined to ride roughshod over the heart. Wilder deals with real emotion that is not always beautiful. From misunderstandings to missed opportunities, Making it Right dares to be raw and it’s that unpredictability that works in it’s favor.
I didn’t read the blurb before I started, so reading about Nicholas early, I didn’t expect him to be the H. He was definitely in my eyes the villain. It didn’t take much for me to dislike him. I guess this book shows that most people deserve a second chance. It didn’t come easy and I’m glad Alannah didn’t give in right away. This story moved in directions I had no idea was coming. I really enjoyed the story, though.
Alannah and Nick had a world wind romance. They met at a charity event and one thing leads to another. 18 months later they are living together and engaged. Alannah gives some news to Nick and he is livid and kicks her out. 5 years later, Nick is back and wants Alannah. They still have feelings for each other but so much to work on. This was a good second chance romance story.
Heartbroken, Alannah is raising her daughter on her own when Nicolas coming back begging for a second chance. A really good second chance romance, Alannah makes Nickolas work for her forgiveness and love. A good read.
OMG this book was absolutely amazing in every way. I do not know if I have this level of forgiveness inside of me but I hope I do. This book was just over the top fantastic. I liked all the characters and once I started reading this book I did not want to stop. I actually skipped work just to finish this book. Great read and highly recommended.
Nick and Alannah were the perfect couple…until they weren’t. This book takes place five years after their fairy tale romance, which ended after a revelation that had Nick misunderstanding all he knew about the relationship. Now Nick is back, and he wants Alannah, his child, and a her forever. Understanding, of course there are a lot of obstacles in their way, such as forgiveness, relatives, etc.
As much as I hate angst, I do like that Allanah makes Nick work for her heart. I also like that she wasn’t a shy flower that waited around for five years for him to return one day.
I also liked that Nick was still alpha jealous of Alannah and wasn’t shy about it, whether he had the right to be or not.
All in all, a good read that drags in places, but overall if you like a groveling alpha, Nick’s your guy.
I’m not sure if I’m honest how I feel about this story. I did enjoy reading this book however I felt like alot of it was repeating the same thing a different way. The actual storyline wasn’t bad and I did enjoy the basis of it (if I ignored the repetitive aspect).
I was all against Nick at the beginning! I couldn’t deal with a
How he acted. I wanted him to prove himself. He more than did. His and Allanahs story is touch but sweet. They have many obstacles and it makes them stronger. Charlie is such a cute character too!
This book started with a bang.. Wow did I hate the main character. Then as we drove into the story a lot of things made sense. Still the book was filled with surprises and also parts were your like really…I love the way the author brought out the women’s part as strong and still very level headed and truly believed in what she was doing. I felt the author really did try to make him work very hard to win a place back into what he called his family. I really enjoyed learning about both of them and feeling like I was part of their crazy world. Great job keeping the readers in the book.
Nicholas had to be the meanest guy ever when he sent Alannah away my heart was breaking for her but 5 years have passed so when Alannah sees him for the first time she is cold and standoffish. Nicholas tossed her out with nothing and he spent those years thinking the worst even though he still loved her but when he received news from his doctor he knew he had to find her. I love second chances but I wasn’t so sure Nicholas deserves one and Alannah is a better person than most to even consider it. Perfect second chance romance.
This was an amazing second chance slow burn book. Alannah and Nick had instant chemistry for each other and their relationship was like a fairytale romance and they were heading to the alter, until one morning, where everything changed, and he was kicking her out of their apartment with just the clothes on her back. Alannah was so distraught she left and moved across the country, years pass by and Nick reappears wanting to get his family back. Alannah stays firm about not wanting her heart broken and not being able to trust him, but be works hard at proving he can gain her trust, love and be the father their daughter deserves. In this book you see so much emotion there is anger, heartbreak, forgiveness, family being upset, family protecting the ones they love, health issues, accidents, feeling betrayed, but most important there is forgiveness, love, devotion, strength and character. My favorite line from the book is, ‘The love of my family is my greatest blessing.’
I’m a big fan of Helens work and she brought this book so much justice. I’m a sucker for second chance romance, and I couldn’t put this book down. The heartache both Nick and Alannah went through you can just feel it. The banner between the two and you add a little sweet yet sassy little girl in the mix and you come with a winner. This book was everything I’d hoped it would be.
