Royal St. James got her name when she was born. Not because her mother loved her royally, but because Royal was a giant pain in the ass. She’s spent her entire life fighting to live, and the last thing she needs is to deal with some pretty-boy police officer who wouldn’t know a hardship if it came up and bit him in the…you know.Justice Rector wasn’t born with a silver spoon in his mouth. He was … mouth. He was raised to work hard and always fight for what he believed in. His father was a cop, and ever since he could remember, he wanted to be one, too.
It was a complete coincidence that he ends up going undercover and meeting Royal St. James. It was just one day, a single moment in time. All routine.
Just do the buy, make the bust, and get out.
But Royal St. James, aptly named, screws everything up. Royally.
All of a sudden, he has a decision to make: blow his cover and save the girl, or save himself.
Of course, he does the most stupid thing possible.
By saving the girl who most assuredly did not want to be saved.

I’m in love with how easy it is to get completely absorbed by a Lani Lynn Vale book. I’ve been suffering through one heck of a book slump. I’ll enjoy a story and as soon as it’s done, I’m desperately trying to hold onto that feel-good feeling. I never have to worry about that when it comes to LLV. She’s one of my go-tos when I’m stuck and I was beyond thrilled with the story she gave me about Royal and Justice!
Royal was a bag full of trouble and fiercely loyal. She wasn’t afraid to speak her mind or stand up against injustice. So when her brother is beaten up for no reason, she’s determined to find out who would even dare. Her determination and overall nosiness catches the eye of a deadly foe and interferes with Justice’s investigation. He’s the only one who can protect her and what was a ‘keep the citizen safe’ mission quickly turns into the love of a lifetime.
I don’t even want to speak too much on what was really happening in this book. There was so much good ish that I have no intention of ruining the experience for you. Just know that you’ll probably fall in love with these characters as easily as I did. Royal has had it rough and yet still holds onto her positivity, honesty, and integral goodness. Justice is such an amazingly solid man and the perfect man for her. As always, there was a wealth of incredible side characters and I can’t wait to read more about Royal’s brother, Jimmy.
4 1/2 STARS!
MAKE ME is book four in Lani Lynn Vale’s KPD Motorcycle Patrol series and revolves around a welder and a motorcycle cop in a twist on an enemies to friends to lovers story line. I was hooked from page one and loved Royal and Justice together!
Royal is quick to draw a reader’s attention because she doesn’t take crap from anyone, and she’s going to stand up for what she believes in no matter what. She quickly gets herself into a mess and has to count on her new frenemy to step in and protect her.
Justice is such a good guy. He was working undercover when Royal tangled with the wrong guy and he had to step in to get her out of harms way. She’s had a hard life, and watching him show her what a true family life should be is pretty magical.
I highly recommend this story to anyone who loves an alpha man who crumbles at the feet of “the one” when he meets her. I’ve been reading this series from the start and these guys are just so sweet, sexy and downright fun. I adore them and am enjoying the series.
I am absolutely loving Lani Lynn Vale’s KPD Motorcycle Patrol series! It’s quickly rising to one of my top favorite series from her. The KPD Motorcycle Patrol series is a next generation series based upon the stories of the children of the lead couples from some of Vale’s early series, like KPD SWAT and Heroes of the Dixie Wardens MC. I’m enjoying catching up with those original characters while getting to know the children from those relationships. For me, sitting down each month with a Lani Lynn Vale book is like catching up with a group of old friends. I’ve been reading her books and these characters’ stories on a monthly basis for so many years now that I’m totally and completely invested in them and this world.
Make Me brings us the story of Justice Rector and Royal St. James. Justice is the son of Loki and Channing from Keys To My Cuffs, the fourth book in the Heroes of the Dixie Wardens MC series. Royal St. James is the estranged daughter of a judge, and she’s a pint-sized, fearless heroine, working as a welder in a shop on the wrong side of the tracks. Justice followed his father’s footsteps into law enforcement, and he was working an undercover operation when Royal, with her fiery red hair and a personality to match, captured his attention.
The natural chemistry between Justice and Royal was instantaneous, and it didn’t take long before they gave in to it. Royal has had a fairly lonely existence, and aside from her relationship with her brother and his mother, she hasn’t had a family to fall back on either. Justice, on the other hand, comes from a tight-knit, loving family, and I loved seeing them interact with each other. Royal is used to being on her own, and she’s fiercely protective of her brother, and it’s precisely that overzealous protective streak that lands her in hot water—and under Justice’s protection. Lani always includes a suspenseful element to her stories, and she didn’t spare the creativity in Make Me with an interesting storyline with some twists and turns.
A fantastic blend of the past and the future, Vale packed the heat, heart and humor into this sweet, sexy and suspenseful romance. Make Me by Lani Lynn Vale gets five smooches from me!

I adored this book; I just knew Justice was going to be just like his dad Loki and Loki is one of my favorite LLV men. Justice is a rough, tough, no nonsense, take no crap guy. He is also undercover trying to bust a drug lord when he first sees Royal working across the street form him welding. If anyone was perfect for Justice it would be Royal because she is equally as tough and take no crap person. She comes from a horrible family except for her brother, who I am hoping gets his own story, but she works hard, cares deeply for those she loves, and has a tough skin. These two together would but heads, argue, and challenge each other but beneath all that tough exterior they both had a soft center and deep chemistry for each other. I loved everything about this book and I really can’t wait for more to come.
“Fuck. My. Life. The man I had the hots for was a cop. I had the hots for a cop!”
Royal might be a pain at times, but her heart is in the right place. Most of the trouble she gets into is because she’s trying to help someone. And yeah, it’s usually her mouth that leads the way. She’s not shy and she tells it like it is. I can’t help but have a crush on her, she’s badass!
Justice tries to avoid her so his cover isn’t compromised. But, —girl didn’t know how to stay out of trouble.” If she wasn’t careful she was gonna get herself killed and he didn’t want it to happen on his watch. When push comes to shove he has to make the only choice his conscience will allow, he grabs the girl.
I can’t help but giggle every time the KDP Motorcycle Patrol uniform is mentioned. The men hate wearing it and the women love seeing it. The motorcycle patrol team wore tight uniforms. And when I say tight, I mean tight. The pants were skin-tight and tucked into tall, shiny leather boots—”
As always, there’s at least one bad guy for the #HotCop to handle and some suspense to keep us on the edge. And there’s never a shortage of witty banter to keep us entertained. Did I mention that Justice’s parents are Loki and Channing? I literally laughed out loud when he told his son, “You were conceived on that bike.”
I can’t get enough of Lani Lynn Vale, she’s an auto-click author for me. She teased me mercilessly by adding the first chapter of Sinners Are Winners at the end of the book, and now I can’t wait to get my grabby hands on it. The line forms here…
Another amazing book by an amazing author.
This story is about Justice, Loki and Channing’s son, and Royal. The banter between these two at first was hilarious especially since they both were having the same feelings for one another but ignoring it. But some drama goes down and it forces these two to finally acknowledge their feelings especially when they are stuck together 24/7. We got to see Loki and Channing again, YAY!!! Love those two.
This was just another amazingly good book. I won’t say more, so go read the book. You won’t be disappointed.
Reading a story by Lani Lynn Vale is like visiting old friends. She never fails to amaze me.
Royal and Justice embarked on a suspenseful, thrilling, sensual, and steamy journey that was absolutely captivating. Their chemistry is off the charts, their banter is sweet and witty, and their connection is perfection. I enjoyed this book.
Royal is just getting in the way for Justice personally and professionally but there is something about her that he can’t just get out of his mind. Royal is all about her brother and when he is assaulted she will do everything to find out how to make it right even risk her own life. I loved these two and the push and pull between them. This story left a smile on my face and I can’t wait for more from all these characters. Highly recommended!!!
Royal St. James was named for being a “Royal Pain in the A$$”. Her father is a well known Judge and despises her. Royal though is very close to her brother and disregards her father every chance she gets. When Royal’s brother gets himself beat up though everything changes and Royal makes a deal with the devil to keep her brother safe.
Justice Rector is undercover trying to get close to a drug dealer wrecking havoc and leaving bodies in town. He doesn’t need to get tangled up with Royal and he tries his best to stay away. Royal though is a trouble magnet and Justice decides to step in but can he save her in time?
So much more to the story but I don’t want to give up a bunch of spoilers. Royal is great, she is mouthy and a fighter. Justice was everything I hoped he would be and more. Loved the story, cant wait for more.
Lani Lynn Vale’s stories draw me in no matter what’s going on in my life. I love that about her books! Justice and Royal are the perfect mix for this dangerous undercover operation to clean up the streets of Kilgore. Justice and Royal make a complicated yet perfect couple, I love them completely! This story is jammed packed with suspense, moments to tickle your funny bone and it’s super sexy. How can you resist a motorcycle cop in a skin tight uniform with a bad-ass attitude. Justice is brooding, quiet and full of mischief. That is until he lays eyes on Royal and his focus turns to charming her, wooing her, showing her all the love this world holds. Royal has never had it easy, her attitude and sass certainly shows it. Her chemistry with Justice lights up the pages of my kindle. They are a smoke show together. Combine their passion with a little suspense, and you’ve got a recipe for another fantastic LLV book. I loved every page!
This series just keeps getting better and better. As much as it is a new series it’s also a second generation series of sorts and it’s executed flawlessly. Royal and Justice are so hot my iPad nearly melted and so sweet it almost needed a root canal. I’m not sure how she managed to pull that one off but she did. The lengths Royal will go for her family are amazing. Justice isn’t too shabby himself… the combo together is just a big bag of feels. – By Laura
I adored Justice and his way of being him, not giving a care about others. This book made me feel terrible for Royal, my heart broke for her but dang was she a strong cookie! These two characters were amazing in the fact that they were both strong and stood up for what is right. Great side characters and I always love getting a glimpse of characters from Lani Lynn Vale’s previous books!
There’s never a dull moment for the hard-working officers of the KPD Motorcycle Patrol.
And I think I may have just met my favorite one so far. Justice is yummy with a capital YUM. This guy has broody and alpha down pat, but underneath those layers of gruff exterior he’s really a sweetheart. He’s fun with a light-hearted personality, and once you have his loyalty he’ll stop at nothing to protect you. He’s also got sex appeal in spades, and you’re going to find him irresistible.
Royal definitely lives an interesting life but, despite her best efforts, the world always seems to melt into chaos around her. She’s fiery, passionate, stubborn, and never one to hold back her opinion. It often gets her into trouble, but she’s not going to change for anybody.
Throw these two into an impossible situation, and the sparks fly. Their chemistry is off the charts, and their encounters are often steamy. But rest assured there are plenty of heartfelt moments to balance out the heat in this book. Add in a little bit of mystery, and you’ve got a story that will keep you turning the pages.
This one is definitely recommended if you’re a fan of this series.
I love Lani Lynn Vale.
I’ve read nearly all her books now and highly recommend them all .
5 There’s So Much More than Her Overalls Stars!!!
Royal St. James is a woman that lives life on her terms and doesn’t give a rat’s butt if those around her like it or not…especially her father. The day she sees Justice for the first time is the day both their lives change and neither one of them are too happy about it.
And so begins this story that is filled with laugh out loud moments, suspense trying to take down the bad guys and passion filled moments that show that you don’t necessarily have to like the person you’re with to have passion filled moments unlike any they’ve experienced before.
I love how Royal loves and adores her brother. She’s his top priority and even if it does create a problem for Justice and his undercover assignment. There’s only one way to prevent anything from happening to her after her latest misstep and boy howdy…let the fireworks go off!!
LLV has written another book in this great series that had me from the first page and getting to see some of the guys from the previous books and a couple of pop-ins from a different series was fabulous!! I’m hooked on this series and can’t wait to see what happens next!!
A great read, you fall for the characters and reunite with some old characters. A great addition to the series.
Royal St. James has a rotten life and family. She’s never really been loved by anyone except her brother Jimmy and she’s always blamed for everything. She constantly sacrifices to make others happy and never takes anything for herself. But, she’s a fighter.
Justice Rector was raised to work hard and to fight for the underdog. Following in his father’s footsteps as a cop, Justice is undercover. But, he blows the entire operation in order to save Royal’s life. While he was attracted to her from the start, once he actually met and got to know her, it was way too easy for him to need her in his life forever.
Make Me was a phenomenal love story. It’s high on suspense, family drama and feel good romance. The plot is fast moving and I loved not only watching this couple fall in love, but also seeing the bad guy go down and Royal’s POS father get what’s coming to him as well.
This was a feel good story. While Royal is delightfully Sassy, Justice is all alpha and an absolute champion when it comes to loving and protecting Royal . . . no matter what the cost. Make Me will leave you feeling good and believing in romance! 5 stars!
I know I always say that this last one is Lani Lynn Vale’s best, but that’s because her books are so enjoyable. They are filled with laughter and feelings and you feel so much better after you finish reading. In this one book, the main characters are so fundamentally good that you love them and wish the best for them.
Poor Royal has been cast into the role of pain in the butt since the day she was born. Her name was chosen because her birth screwed up the life of her parents, hence the royal pain in the butt. She has been cast in the role of screw up, her mother died when she was young and her father just plain hates her. The only love in her life is her younger brother Jimmy and even seeing her brother involves negotiating with her father. She doesn’t have a college education, forced to work at menial jobs that don’t last long before she’s fired. At the time the story starts, she’s working at a welding company in the bad part of town and it seems she finally found her niche. The only problem is that she brought problems to her brother and came into the crime lord’s attention.
Justice Rector fell in love with Royal from the first moment he saw her. Working undercover in a garage in the same bad part of town, he has been observing her for a while but kept away. Until one day he steps in when Royal’s brother gets a beating near her workplace and Royal starts to ask around who did it. Having to choose between his undercover job and Royal, who is now in danger, he chose the girl and then had to start protecting her from the deadly Marcus.
Thrust into such close proximity, it was inevitable to fall in love with Justice. Starting with his Adonis looks, then his family with which she fell in love first, then his sterling character, she was a goner. We deal with Royal’s father who is a royal jerk, her stepmother Marta, who is a sweetheart, Justice’s parents Loki and Channing, who come from the Dixie Wardens series, and all the Kilgore motorcycle squad in their yummy tight uniforms.
One of my favorite scenes is when Jimmy suddenly appears at the police station where Royal is working while she’s in police protection. Her father had forbidden her contact with Jimmy and she had been ignoring his calls and texts, breaking her heart. Jimmy kept investigating until he found her and asserted his loyalty and love for the sister who took such good care of him. I think this was one of the most emotional moments of the story and it made me very happy to see them reunited.
The plot is pretty straightforward with sexy times and funny times and sweet family moments with Loki and Channing. Royal was in for a surprise when she finds out what it really means to have loving, supporting parents and she practically begged to be adopted by Loki and Channing. It was lovely and heart-wrenching to see a Royal who is accustomed to being disregarded and insulted by her father, to find her niche and to be admired and loved by Justice and his parents. Used to being thought of as a screw up, she started to shine and demonstrate her talents and intelligence; as a consequence, her confidence as someone worthy rose. It truly is a feel-good story and I love that our heroine ended up with the family her heart chose, not the blood family that was so damaging to her heart.
I don’t mention Justice a lot because he was awesome from the start to the end; he had no growing up to do or issues to overcome. He was in love with Royal and he only needed to be patient for her to get convinced that he was here to stay with her. I loved this story!
It’s no mystery that I just can’t get enough of LLV’s books! And this series is quickly rising to one of my favorites to read from. Make Me is book 4 in the KPD Motorcyle Patrol and all the heroes are grumpy a–holes, but NEVER to their women They know better than that!
Banter for days with these two and I enjoyed every second of it. Royal is constantly up to no good even though her intentions are in the right place, she’d do anything for her brother. The only family that she has left that’s worth caring about. It was probably one of my favorite elements mentioned in this book.
And then you have Justice, a man just trying to do his undercover job, but someone makes it rather tough to do when she’s sticking her nose in places she shouldn’t. Eventually it gets to the point where he rather not deal with the fallout, go after the girl (even though we know he’s going to win her over instantly) and give up his assignment.
Sexy and funny is what this story is! And just watching these two fall in love is always a favorite! Such a fan of watching these grumpy bears fall in love and aghhhhhh, it’s the best thing ever! And the family dynamics with Justice’s family was the best, his parents are hilarious!
Soooooooo looking forward to the next one!

Lani Lynn Vale
Another wonderful read from Lani. I love this series and it is so amazing to get updates on previous characters. I have always loved Loki and Channing! Can’t wait to read more.
