0.5 in The Kiss of Death Series. Prequel novella to Kill Me. At thirteen years old I was sold, doomed to become a sex slave. Nicholai Ivanov, boss of the Russian Bratva, gave me the ultimate gift. He saved me from a fate worse than death. He promised to make me strong, because only the strong survive, and the weak die, forgotten and inconsequential. I now live in a world of blood and violence, … world of blood and violence, where humanity itself is a weakness. My life is not a battle of bad and good, but bad and worse. This is kill or be killed, survival of the fittest.

Wow! This gripped me from the first page and I could not put it down. It was hard hitting and full on. My heart was in my mouth for most of this book and I cannot wait to read more from this author!!
Short, explosive and left me wanting more!
I loved Kill Me so I was really looking forward to reading this. I think I read it in an hour, so it’s something you can pick up and finish in one sitting if you have a spare hour.
It’s the story of how Una became the heartless killer she is in Kill Me and it was interesting to see.
In Kill Me we get know what happens to Alex but it still pulled at my heartstrings after seeing their relationship. I found myself having to take a deep breath at the injustice of it.
So all in all, it was a good little read and I can’t wait for the next one!!
I’m not sure if this should have been read after the other books in this series, but I have read it first and it is a great introduction to these characters. It has me captured and entertained my attention. I am looking forward to read Una’s story!
3.5 Stars
Make Me is a nice addition to the Kiss of Death series especially when you’ve read Kill Me and want to know how Una became the Kiss of Death. This was a short and quick read but it didn’t give a lot more details than what we got from Kill Me though I liked getting to know Alex who was mentioned in Kill Me.
The Story:
Una and her sister Ana live in an orphanage since their parents died. As if this wasn’t bad enough they suffer in this house where kids without parents should be cared for. One day Una is taken away by a man of every child’s worst nightmare. Life seems cruel and Una can’t trust anyone but there is still one she considers a friend. What will happen to Una? Will she survive the battles she’s thrown into and what will happen to her sister?
Thoughts:
I can’t say that I didn’t like this book but I wouldn’t know what to make of this story if I hadn’t read Kill Me first. When I read Kill Me I wished to know more of how Una became the woman she was in this book. I think Make Me would have fitted better and made more sense as flashbacks in Kill Me rather than as a separate book. But that’s just my opinion. The book’s still well written and like I said before it’s a nice addition to get to know Una’s background.
I felt like a mouse spying in on Una and I didn’t understand why she did what she did in this book (especially at the end) even though I knew what was happening from Kill Me. It happened too fast for me as a reader to follow and understand her reasons for doing certain stuff. What was the trigger? I knew that it’s about kill or get killed and having never been in such kind of situation I didn’t know what I would have done but it seemed rather harsh and sudden to me.
4.5 Stars!
Make Me is a very short story with a lot of insight into the heroine. It is the prequel to Kill Me to that really gives us the background of how Una became the assain that first met.
This review is going to be hard to write because I don’t want to give anything away. I actually really enjoyed that we are getting this prequel now because I wanted to know how she ended up where she was. She most definitely had a rough childhood and she endured things that no one should have to go though. The situations that she was put in and the way that she was trained is brutal and it explains so much about the woman that we first met.
Make Me starts when Una is thirteen years old and in an orphanage. From there, she ends up with a man who ultimately earns her trust and trains her to be the freaking badass woman that she is. The ultimate warrior. There’s also a little bit of history that shows her vulnerable side and explains a more on why she is stone cold with her emotions. I felt everything she was going though. I rooted for her to stay strong and become a powerful woman.
I don’t know how L.P. did it but she delivers a story that is full of not only action but emotions in such a short amount of time. Don’t let the number of pages fool you. You don’t want to miss out on this. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book in this series. I don’t think I will ever get enough.
Make Me explains why Una is the badass that she is. You get some of Una’s life story in Kill Me, but Make Me really fills in the blanks. This was great insight into understanding Una more. L.P. Lovell really did a good job in helping her readers to understand Una. I recommend anyone that has read Kill me to read Make Me to getting a better understanding of Una.
Happy Reading Everyone!!!
