This is the fifth book in the Make-Believe Series. I love this Series. Roland and June story is beautifully written, sweet and clean. This is an older man and younger woman romance. June, a nanny, is a lovely woman, caring and sweet. Roland, a widower, billionaire, dad of two daughters, is handsome, protective and caring. I like their slow burn story. They are great together. I love the fake proposal scene! The little ones are so cute! Amanda Stribling did a great job with the narration. I enjoyed it. Looking forward for the next book in the Series, Make-Believe Marriage.
This story is romantic. Roland is her friend and helps her save face by proposing to his nanny. Even though it’s a fake proposal, Roland’s feeling are real for his nanny. She has helped his family and he wants to do everything to help her. They find that spark that turns friends into lovers. This story is heartwarming and left me feeling good.
Second Chances
If you’ve read other books in this series you will know that each stands alone but there are characters you will know from other books. In this case, our football hero’s sister takes center stage as nanny to a self-made billionaire’s two young daughters. A well thought out plot, likeable characters, wonderful narration and a clean, sweet, faith-based (but not intrusively!) tale–what’s not to love?
If you love sweet, clean romances, you should check out the Make-Believe series by Vivi Holt. In this book, June is a nanny for two young girls, Emma and Caitlyn. Their father, Roland Kirk, is a successful billionaire, but he is also a lonely widower. After the sudden death of his beloved wife during Emma’s birth, he hasn’t wanted to find someone else to share his life with.
After June’s boyfriend, Casey, dumps her because he isn’t ready to make a commitment, she wants to be able to show him that she has moved on. She suggests a fake proposal of marriage to Roland, who laughs it off, However, when Casey shows up at a restaurant one night with a “Stick Insect” on his arm and introduces her as his fiancé, Roland can’t stand the way he treats June and quickly says that they are engaged.
These books are entertaining and uplifting, with their themes of faith, second chances, and love between unlikely people. As always in these books, there are plenty of misunderstandings between the couple, a few setbacks in their relationship and a final awakening of their love. Nothing surprising, but greatly entertaining. Of course, there is a HEA ending, which Ms. Holt’s readers have come to expect.
The narrator, Amanda Stribling, does a great job once again and her voice has become the voice of this series IMHO. Also, I love the new covers for this series and think that they are much, much better than the previous ones. I was given a chance to listen to the audiobook version of this book by the author and chose to review it.
Make-Believe Proposal
Make-Believe Series, Book 5
By: Vivi Holt
Narrated by: Amanda Stribling
Always a wonderful listen, Vivi Holt gives us book 5 of her Make Believe series. This one is inspiring in so many ways. We get to know June, the nanny for Roland’s two daughters. She loves her job, and has recently been dumped by her ex. While he is gallivanting around town with his new girl, June is determined not to let him see her hurt. Roland steps in to her rescue and states they are engaged. Now what will they do with this lie? I really enjoyed this one for a couple of reasons. I love the relationship Roland has with his girls. It’s heartwarming as they do things together. I found the budding slow burn between Roland and June so good, and the conflicts Roland felt both frustrating and realistic! It’s a beautifully written story, and will keep your heart full as you listen.
Amanda Stribling continues with her wonderful narrations. I love her voice, find her way of connecting with the characters makes them believable. As always, she made my ears happy!

Vivi Holt outdid herself when it came to “Make-Believe Proposal!” The attention to details and the way that the storyline flowed throughout the entire novel was enough to grab anyone’s eye and keep it there until the book was through! I don’t want to give away any of the plot, so I will just leave it with you will not be disappointed if you buy/read this novel! I highly recommend it!
Make-Believe Proposal is a Hallmark style, feel good, heart warming story. Roland, a billionaire, just wants his girls to have as normal a life as possible. June, the nanny, really loves both girls. She and Roland have a great friendship. This is their story as they move from friendship to love. I was captivated from page one.
Make-Believe Proposal (Make-Believe Series – Book #5 )
By: Vivi Holt
Make-Believe Proposal is book five in the Make-Believe Series. You can read this as a stand-a-lone. I really enjoyed this sweet and clean romance. I was drawn in at the start and did not want to put it down. The story and the characters were well written and realistic . This is June and Roland’s story. June is a live in nanny for Rolands two children. Roland is a billionaire and loves his children. I like the friendship between June, Roland, and the children. Roland tries to help June out when her boyfriend breaks up with her and comes back causes problems. Is he helping her or hurting her? What will this do to their friendship? I highly recommend this sweet and happy romance.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book , but was not told that I had to give a positive review. All opinions are my own.
This is a make your heart happy read. A widower wit two daughters hires a nanny. Two years of having a close friendship the children start looking to her as Mom. When the nanny and Dad really start looking at each other and their feelings shift to more, so many obstacles are in the way. They both have doubts which may cause a chasm if they don’t work things out for everyone involved.
What a fun and dreamy read! I really admired June for her maturity and love for her job. When things went from bad to worse June still kept her head up and didn’t let it drag her down. The friendship between June and Roland was one of fun, comfort and romance. I was so caught up in it and couldn’t put the book down! Better than a Hallmark movie!
