The only reason I didn’t rate the story a 5 is because I was hoping for smoother transitions with timelines. It was hard to tell when the story would jump ahead in the time frame (mid-chapter). The story itself was cute.
I listened to the Audible version and Amanda Stribling did an excellent job with her performance.
#AudiobookObsession
I enjoyed this clean romance. I voluntarily chose to review this book. I’ve given it a 4.7* rating. Lots of sadness and joy in this story. Lots of ups and downs, with twists and turns to stir things up. I must admit I needed a hanky at the beginning but less as the story moves on.There was lots of things going on to keep me turning the page, late into the night. I liked the positive way the hero had and the way he approached things. And a real nice ending.
Jax Green came home for his father’s funeral. He’s a star runningback for the Atlanta Falcons. Stacey Murphy has always liked him . He was her brother’s best friend. There was an understanding not to date his best friends sister. When he was inundated by crazy female fans, they have a plan to be make believe they are married. This is a fun, cute, faith based story, that was a joy to listen to.
Amanda Stribling narration made it a fun story to listen to. audiobookobsessionreviewer
Only Make Believe I Love You
The local football hero has made the NFL but when he comes home for his father’s funeral he is mobbed and harrassed by women hoping to snag a superstar. His best friend’s baby sister is now all grown up and the perfect make-believe wife to cool the local jets. I always enjoy voice artist Amanda Stribling’s narration, and author Vivi Holt has given her delightful and loveable characters to portray. Clean and faith-based, so no hanky or panky.
This is the fourth book in the Make-Believe Series. I love this Series. Jax and Stacy’s story is sweet and clean. This romance is beautifully written. Amanda Sribling did a great job with the narration.
Audio Book Version:
Narrator does an excellent job or reading this story with emotion and strength. This story is well done and both Stacy and Jake are lovable. Unfortunately, Jake is blind to Stacy’s emotional state. One is because Jake is grieving his father’s death. Two is because Stacy intentionally sends mixed signals. Narrator takes you on an emotional roller coaster as Jake and Stacy work out their relationship.
Another thoroughly enjoyable addition to the wonderful “Make-Believe” series by Vivi Holt.
Jax Green returns home after his father’s unexpected death, only to meet up with his best friend’s little sister, who isn’t so little anymore! Stacy Murphy has been in love with Jax for years, but never dreamed that she had a chance with him.
Jax doesn’t realize how his fame as a running back for the Atlanta Falcons would affect his return to his hometown, but he can’t seem to get away from the reporters and the women who are after him. Jax and Stacy come to a business arrangement that will benefit them both. Stacy needs a place to live and Jax just wants some peace and quiet, so they pretend to be married.
I have never been much of a romance fan, but I thoroughly enjoy these make-believe books. They are reminiscent of a simpler time and remind me of the old Doris Day/Cary Grant romance movies, with their frequent misunderstandings and blooming love story. I also love the way that Ms. Holt works in a faith-based message in these books.
The narrator, Amanda Stribling, does a great job and adds a lot to the listener’s enjoyment. Her enthusiasm for the material really shows in her performance.
If you are looking for a clean, romantic book with plenty of fun, love, humor and great writing, check out this book or any of the others by Ms. Holt. You won’t be disappointed!
I was given the opportunity to listen to the Audible version of this book by the author and chose to review it.
Make-Believe Husband
Make-Believe Series, Book 4
By: Vivi Holt
Narrated by: Amanda Stribling
Book 4 in this series, Vivi Holt has another sweet, clean romance sure to warm your heart. Stacy has been in love with Jax as long as she an remember. Her brother’s best friend, Jax has always seen Stacy as off limits. Now an NFL star and surrounded by crazy fans, the plan is to pretend they are married. But are their feelings really fake? Sometimes a story is just refreshing and fun, and this one is just that. They have a history which enriches the story, and I love the hometown feel it has. Stacy is a good person with bad luck, and it is great getting to know her and see her blossom. Jax is interesting, watching him change his views of what is important and making that change. I truly enjoyed their story, and love this series. I know it will be easy, low angst and romantic.
Amanda Stribling continues to bring this series to life.I enjoy her narrations, and she does a fabulous job with this one. Her ability to go from frustrated daughter to older parent, or intoxicated character is seamless. She is up and coming and I will be watching for more of her narrations.

I thoroughly enjoy many different novels by Vivi Holt, and quite a few of them here recently have been from her ‘Make-Believe Series.’ There have been some that I enjoy more than others, and unfortunately this time I enjoyed this novel a little less than the others. The overall storyline was good, with really good characters; however, it was also slow and drawn out through places making it seem longer than necessary. I do recommend it for it is apart of a series and the overall series has been well written.
4 stars
I purchased a copy of Make-Believe Series book 4:Make-Believe Husband by ViVi Holt and this review was given freely.
Just as Jax is reaching the top of his career tragedy strikes. Running back Jax reunites with childhood friend Stacey after the death of his father but when she acts as a buffer from unwanted attention, Jax gains more than friendship. This is a poignant falling in love with your best friend’s sister romance with glimpses into how God’s love helps us to process and deal with/accept death, a potentially career ending injury, alcoholism, unrequited love, and survive an abusive past. the conclusion is both happy and heartwarming.
Jax needs some time to mourn his fathers dead, Stacey needs a place to live. They know each other a long time coz Jax is Stacey’s brother best friend, so he is off limit. To give him the chance to get some rest they faked to be married. But what when love comes around?
Loved this story about love, second chances and family.
This was such a good book I couldn’t put it down! I liked Jax from Make Believe Honeymoon, his character is so sweet and he reminds me of hometown kind of guy. I really liked all the characters. The characters were all going through hard times but the one thing they had was God and family. We all need love and family, this book shows you how important that is along with a sweet and wonderful romance. I hope there are more books in this series! This book can be read as a stand alone too.
Was given a complimentary copy by author. All opinions are of my own.
Make-Believe Husband ( Make-Believe Series-Book 4 )
By; Vivi Holt
Make-Believe Husband is book four by Vivi Holt in Make-Believe Series. What a story. The author writes a good clean romance that will warm your heart. I have read all four in this series and either of them can be read as a stand a long without any problems. This is Jax and Stacey’s story and you will love them. Jax is a professional football player, and Stacey is Jax’s best friend’s sister, who has grown up and off limits. I loved this one and I laughed and laughed at these two.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book , but was not told that I had to give a positive review. All opinions are my own.
I love a good ‘Big brother’s best friend’ story. Maybe because my big brother had some cute friends and I can live out my fantasies by reading a great book! This one is terrific!
WONDERFUL BOOK
There was so much going on in this book, I could not put it down. Vivi Holt’s characters are very believable and interesting. There are long term friends, bad and good parenting (different parents), coping with loss, coping with fame, a crazy plan, and romance. This book has it all. Don’t miss it.
