The storyline is great and very well written!
This is the perfect read for those who love books which remind them a little of their childhood stories but with a naughty twist to it.
The main characters are amazing and I can guarantee you will come to love them as much as I did.
The book has a really easy flow to it such that you wouldn’t even notice when you’ve reached the last page.
It’s perfect for when you are in the mood for something both sweet and steamy to read, which will make you smile and blush in the same time.
This is a Cinderella type of story with a time-travel romance set in the regency period with mild use of magic. I do not like time-travel stories, since I went into this book blind and the little magic scene that happened I was surprised along with the characters when they time-travelled.
Having been orphaned at a young age, Ivy came to live with her mother’s sister, wicked Aunt Mary and her wicked children who treated her no more than a slave. On the day of her birthday, a surprise birthday present takes her to another world where she meets Dedrik.
This story was okay-ish. Here the Cinderella’s prince is a lone hunter who takes her on a tiny adventure. The romance-lust was insta. In the end Ivy returns to her Aunt. In this story the Cinderella doesn’t leave a shoe for her prince to find her but the gift she got which gave her a happily ever after.
This is a a sweet, time travel, spin on the classic Cinderella fairy tale. I love all the detail as far as world building and the changes that were made as to who the characters were. Instead of an evil stepmother, Ivy lives with an aunt and cousins. Instead of meeting a prince, Ivy meets a hunter. These changes made the retelling feel fresh. The story is a short one, and the insta-love idea fits perfectly with both the story length and the fact that fairy tales always have the element of love at first sight so it flowed perfectly. This is a gem that shouldn’t be missed.
The author had teased about a time traveling short and her stories always have a sweet touch to it. Being that it turned out to be a retelling of a classic with a twist, is the icing on the cake. Believe me, my imagination kind of ran while speculating who Prince Charming will be. Hehehe, believe me, it was a wild thought for sure!
Ivy is our Cinderella, who is left an orphaned and taken in by her maternal aunt. Forced to be a servant and beaten when her aunt and cousins find fault with her, she lives a lonely life even though she is surrounded by blood relations. All she wants is to have someone to love her. As she makes a wish on her birthday, her wishes seems to have come true when she meets Dedrik. But something is terribly wrong because she can’t seem to understand him and neither does her surrounding look familiar. Will she stay with him or will she go back to her lonely life? Read and find out cause you won’t want to miss this if you are a fan of Cinderella.
This was a quick, sweet read. I loved the young heroine who had lived a hard life with her aunt and cousins. The evil step mother with the rotten step siblings environment. This heroine is an innocent but smart little cookie who knows how to survive in this environment. She thoroughly enjoys herself when her aunt and cousins head to London for their 2 week excursion to meet the new king and rub elbows with the ton. Out for a normally forbidden walk in the forest, our Heroine is caught in a swiftly moving storm, where she takes refuge beneath a large tree. She falls asleep and wakes up in the camp of a man that could pass for a mountain man, who doesn’t speak her language, with landmarks of the forest and mountains having taken a completely different appearance. Another wish and suddenly they can understand each other, the next few days are spent with Dedrik trying to get Ivy home, Ivy comprehending she’s not in the same time that she came from and both noticing the natural chemistry they have. Again, their story is a sweet, beautiful story of growing to care for each other, wrong choices to return home no matter what, a man determined to get to his woman no matter what. Its a short tale with a great ending. I loved it!
I received this book as an arc and have given my honest opinion.
this was a fun little time travel story. a little different then what Leann Ryans usually writes but it was still a very good story.i hope she writes more like it in the future. reading this story made my heart happy. i found myself smiling a lot reading it and we all need stories like that every so often to lighten our hearts and bring us joy. i hope you enjoy this story as much as i did.
A sweet retelling of Cinderella through time travel. It was a quick, romantic tale with a little steam added to the mix.
I was not sure what to expect from the book, but I loved every Cinderella travel back to the past combined with some magic storyline, it was definitely unique. I loved that the characters were not the usual stepmother, stepsisters and a prince, but rather an aunt cousins and a hunter. the characters were well developed and I loved how Ivy finally grows into herself and realizes that true love always win out over responsibilities and guilt drilled into you by abusive family members. Easy very enjoyable short read.

This as a sweet time travel fairytale with magic and romance from start to finish. Ivy is an orphan living with her aunt and cousins who that her as nothing less than a slave. They are cruel and abusive and ivy feels trapped until the Prince throws a fete in London, not being invited Ivy decides to use that time to enjoy her self and relax. Rooting through chests in the attic looking for cloth to make a new dress Ivy finds a chest with a dress and a locket that were her mothers, along with a note telling Ivy she wants her to find love. While out in the woods the next day Ivy sits by a stream and holds her locket and makes a wish. She wakes up far in the past and is found under a tree by Dedrick, who takes pity on the maiden lost in the woods. What happens next is a sweet journey of finding love without realizing it. When Ivy makes a crucial mistake… will she lose her one chance at love? Or is love’s magic enough to save her from a cruel fate? Find out in the pages of this book. I think you will enjoy the sweet and naughty bits as much as I did.
Leann Ryans’ first Regency book is a sweet retelling of the Cinderella story. Innocent and quiet Ivy is sent to live with her horrid Aunt and cousins with the untimely deaths of her parents. Finding hope for her future diminishes day after brutal day until she finds a mysterious locket left by her mother in the attic. Ivy finds herself transported to the Copper Age and into the arms of Dedrik, a nomadic hunter. Will Ivy follow her heart and take a chance with someone she hardly knows, or return to a predictable but lonely existence as her family’s servant?
If you’re looking for a quick, sweet read, this is the book for you. It’s a Cinderella types story with a time travel twist and a quick burn romance.
** 3.5 Stars **
Though it may has some Cinderella elements, I didn’t really think it so. Yes, she was being raised by poor relations and was being ill-used. Yes, she ended up wearing a borrowed dress and shoes that didn’t fit, but the time-traveling was unique. It was well-written for a short story and entertaining. I enjoy LR stories and this one didn’t disappoint.

This is a sweet story about a young orphan treated badly by her aunt and cousins. She finds things that belonged to her mother with a note and ends up traveling through time. Leanne Ryan has a gift for storytelling and crafts amazing characters that are honest and real. I love time travel stories when they are well written and this one is! There’s a bit of mystery, adventure and steaminess. This is a quick read and has an hea. You will love it!
A mix story of Cinderella and time travel, Maid in Time is fast pace and sweet.
While the first view chapter, Ivy POV is being a slave for her aunt and cousins aka Cinderella in Regency era (perhaps, this is just my guest of the timing), the next is her adventure in the past. Her meeting with Dedrik the hunter stir something she never feel. A wanting of love and lust.
A time travel genre always tricky subject for me. The how, the way is tough. But this sweet little story isn’t something you need to think too heavy.
Maid in Time is a simple story of finding love in the most unexpected time and place. It’s light. It’s sweet. It’s fast. Perfect for you to read in the afternoon tea time
This is a fascinating time travel romance has a bit of insta-love with just a touch of a fairytale undertone. The plot flowed smoothly & is quite interesting with some mild intrigue. There is good scenes descriptions & world building. The two main characters (Ivy & Dedrik) are well-developed & intertwine quite well with each other.
There is: a orphaned young woman (Ivy) is treated as a domestic slave by her despicable aunt (Mary) & her equally despicable cousins (Margaret & William) then Ivy come across some items that belonged to her mother & goes on a unexpected journey into the past then she comes into contact with a man (Dedrik), adventure, magic, drama, mild intrigue, some suspense, surprises, disbelief, confusion, realization, memories, attractions, trust issues, indecision, determination, love, contentment, mild steam & a satisfying HEA.
The writing and editing of this story was clean, with no typos that I found in the ARC version of the manuscript. The world building was interesting and vivid. I got vivid descriptions of the woods. The characterization was good, with both hero and heroine being sympathetic individuals. The development of the romantic relationship was sweet and organic. The plot and pacing was interesting and quick. There was a good amount of angst on the heroine’s part, but it was fully justified, so I was able to enjoy it. The stakes were fairly high, which I also enjoyed. This story used the Partner in Trouble trope, the Forced Proximity trope, and a whiff of the Fated Mates trope. The world building, plot, and pacing were all four stars. The characterization and development of the romantic relationship were also four stars. Therefore, the combined score of this novel was four stars. This story ended on a Happy Ever After instead of a cliffhanger, so that is a big plus. I recommend this short time travel romance to anyone who prefers historical romances set during a time or place that is NOT Regency England. I am not a fan of ballrooms, so I really enjoyed it. I eagerly look forward to reading Leann Ryans’ next novel. I will not be buying myself a keeper copy of this romance simply because it is so short, not because it is not good.

A creative retelling of the classic Cinderella story, the author added in enough plot twists to make the storyline fresh. The addition of time travel and magic provided a fun spice as well. Well worth the read, Ivy will have you cheering for the happy ending she deserves in no time. Bonus points for cute pets too – way better than Cinderella’s mice!

This book is a short novella type of book. It’s fairytale-ish world and characters was simple and Ivy was endearing.
If found the romance to be the type of instalove attraction, which I do like, and the male hero was nice, though vastly less ‘Alpha’ than I expected hehe.
I really liked the concept and idea of the story, but I felt sometimes that there was too much information and descriptions, as if things were there to be fillers. I mean nothing really even happens here until chapter 5+, and that is quite far into the book really when the book itself isn’t very long.
The world Ivy appears in when she time-travels…. I was at a loss with.
I found no indications that would tell me exactly what time we are in, which was slightly confusing and because of that I never really felt very connected to the world.
We knew we were in the North of England because she basically wakes up where she originally was – but we have no idea how far back we are.
We must be seriously far back because there are no kings at all – ad York does not exist yet, at least Dedrik never heard of it – which again would be odd if it was there, which means we’re further back than 71AD, possibly, again it was impossible to tell.
So there were little things that made me wonder. Dedrik’s clothing made me wonder because Ivy states he’s wearing ‘breeches’, which makes sense for her to maybe call it that, as she’s from 1811, but I doubt Dedrik would call it that as the world would most likely not be in his vocabulary at all.
He also didn’t seem to know what a basket was… or her type of basket. Which I also found odd…her basket is most likely what we today call a picnic basket, or it’s a flatter kind as she was using it whilst collecting flowers, herbs, roots etc from the forest.
Again it made no sense to me why he would not know what a basket was… it’s things like this that makes me disconnect with the story.
I don’t doubt that the author did some research for this story, but it’s not being reflected in the story for me, which makes things confusing. I wish I knew more about what the main characters looked like, how he hunted, what tools he used and so forth because it would make me connect more with them I think.
Despite all these issues I had, I found the story nice and fluffy, an instalove romance and HEA with a nice hot scene. 🙂 Perfect for when you want some light-hearted reading. 🙂

Cinderella lost in time!
Leann Ryans is an amazing storyteller. This was such a sweet romance with a Cinderella twist! You have the evil aunt Mary and the two spoiled snobby cousins Margaret and William. Ivy’s parents died when she was a young child and she was sent to her estranged Aunt Mary’s house and from there Ivy is treated poorly and is an thrall to her cousins and aunt. This story had a nice twist into time travel where Ivy meets her Prince Charming Dedrik! From there the story becomes such a sweet fairy tale!
This is a sweet story. Normally I do not read time travel romance as the ones that I have read tend to get confusing and not always well put together. This one was well written and the characters were stunningly beautiful. It was clear which timeline they were in and how they move from time to time. It is a quick read but doesn’t leave you hanging trying to figure things out. It is a fantastic story that has similar traits to Cinderella. I wouldn’t say it lines up to Cinderella because it is it’s own unique story.
